This is my Quilted Hexagon Scarf I made from English paper piecing and quilted using my Brother Sewing Machine. Its made from over a hundred squares from ten different fabric that i chose to reflect my personality. I find this scarf represents me because I see myself a multi-faceted person with many different pieces to my personality. The fabrics are a mixture of solids, patterns, different textures and different types of fabric to show my rough side, my soft side, my creative side and my calculating side. All of these things are essential to who I am and how i show myself to the world. I chose neutral colors like gray, brown and black to reflect my down to earth persona. I found the process to be relaxing and meditative because i usually do not hand sew much anymore. I find a lot of heart goes into every sewing project and this one especially has a lot of me in it.
While waiting for more wooly color for the other hexagon play, I started this set in cotton--perfect timing as it was HOT in the valley today!

Hexagon is a stand alone follow up to the book Squidologi from earlier this year. Thomas Falla Eriksen has made a wordless creative fantasy in time and space. He gets his visual inspiration from classical European artists like Moebius and Casa, but is also inspired by music and movies from the eighties. As in Squidologi the story is a playful take on conspiracy theories, theology, quantum physics and sci fi literature. This time he specially uses mythology and symbols linked to the planet Saturn.
The container is 1 uncut, unglued 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of Transparency film
The Sparkles are 2.5 inch squares.
How do you transform it?
Shake it, roll it, tumble it - something different each time.

Literally that is what I am in......"Hexagon Bliss". I am using Bliss by Camille Roskelley to hand sew my first ever hexagons. I had tried it before with a plastice template and it just didn't seem to work. After seeing some videos and tutorials the other day about paper piecing I decided to give it another try. I started on Thursday evening and now have 84 hexagons done. I figure with football and cheerleading starting in the next week everynight I am sure to get at least 100 done a week. So at that rate in 6months I should have enough for a 40x60 quilt. I have to say I do find it relaxing to do a bit of hand-sewing.
