The Office of the State’s Attorney is partnered with various public and private organizations in this effort including the Department of Family Services, the Prince George’s County Public School System, the Department of Social Services, the Department of Corrections and the Prince George’s County Community Foundation. If there's one thing I know for sure about doing community work, running a community based organization and being an activist, is that at times it can be very isolating. Very lonely.
I spent my entire day on the phone, in front of my computer and in and out of 4 meetings trying my best to stay ahead of things.
My first outreach of the year is behind me, but I still have a huge homeless outreach on March 9, my trip to DC in April and a mothers day outreach in May.
For 12 years now, since I created it in 2007, Project KengiKat has been a one man show as far as planning, running organizing and fundraising. I don't get much time to myself, but i care deeply about what I do, the work I've created and the people it serves. I'm also very appreciative of all my supporters and volunteers who show up the day of to help me get through the outreaches, but never the less, this work is very isolating.
