A public sculpture in Portovecchio, Lazise, Lake Garda, Veneto, Italy.
It sits quietly in the small garden of the Chiesa di San Nicolò (The patron saint of sailors and fishermen), situated between two olive trees.
This sculpture celebrates the work of AIDO, an Italian organisation involved with organ donation and transplantation.
The Pelican feeding its children is a symbol of altruism and charity, of self-denial in favour of others.
There were once Pelicans on Lake Garda, but these are now either rare or extinct.
Many thousands of people are waiting for transplants. Please consider joining a donation organisation in your country, and/or becoming a blood donor. Help save and improve the lives of others.
It often happens that novice shooters approach me for advice while I'm out shooting. Tonight, I had been sitting in the cold for a half hour waiting for the perfect blue hour moment and had just set up for this shot when two young Mediterranean-looking men approached me with their little DSLR in an outstretched hand asking, in very broken English, how to capture the evening cityscape. I had been watching them mess with this camera as I set up and even though I didn't understand them, I knew what they were asking.
I'm always a little leery that it might be a set up and I try to keep my situational awareness intact, ready for a possible confrontation. The bad people know that big cameras equal big money. After a brief, guarded chat, I decided they were on the level.
They spoke more German than English and my marginal German was enough to communicate with them. They had just purchased the camera today. Of course, it was a Canon, which I don't know my way around at all and they wanted A. to know how to shoot the skyline and B. a photo of them in front of the night skyline. I explained as best I could that it was a tall order. I put their camera on my tripod and shot one frame of the skyline in aperture priority at f/16 using the timer to avoid camera shake and then had one of them posing as I shot a frame in P mode with the pop-up flash to show that the background get's lost. Then I showed them how to change it to manual with the flash up and shoot a long exposure combined with the flash.
They were both pretty wide-eyed at all this and one of them said, "You, you are an artist! Thank you! Thank you!" I smiled as packed up my gear and said goodnight to them. I had missed the best blue hour moments but felt pretty good about helping these two lads. All in all, not a bad night out shooting and I still got a decent shot for my daily shot.

This is one of the neighborhood cats my wife and I feed. I decided to create an out of bounds picture using photoshop.
Walking through the main street of Cabramatta, this elderly charity worker caught my eye. I think she was collecting money for a children’s hospital.
I like her positioned against this rather plain looking roller door with it’s grungy posters and signs.
Ok, there's a story!!! I swear!
These next three posts are for Tony (check out his amazing and funny photostream here). Anyway he started a group call "Hats fo Haiti", where he will donate money to the cause for each photo posted in this group.
So Tony, here you go...I was sick as a dog, hence the hiding behind hats! But they're done, and just for your group! You rock my friend!
Be well all

At the European Parliament’s Office in Greece Demanding Answers.
Despite nearly a decade of protest and continued communications with all the so-called concerned authorities whether in Greece or in Europe, my dire situation outside the UNHCR office where they have deliberately forced me into starvation since 2020, still continues to remain unresolved.
However, their Nazism and baseless hostility has neither entirely broken my spirit, nor has it stopped me from seeking answers to this ongoing hostage-taking and my complete deprivation in this vile place.
As such on March 02nd, 2023, I went to the office of the European Parliament’s Representation in Greece to demand answers there.
Three major questions that need to be answered and everybody should ask are why they held me Hostage in Greece and won’t let me go, what is their end game and agenda and what is the solution to this problem?

Wildfires can lead to the creation of unique and interesting art, they can also lead to devastating loss to individuals.
For those that don't my good friend and fellow Photo Cascadia team member, Erin Babnik, found out yesterday the house she just started renting was destroyed in the Paradise, California wildfire. Although she feels fortunate to have made it out alive, as some unfortunately did not, she had to leave behind pretty much everything she owned.
She literally only moved in a week before the fire started, getting new furnishings for this move. Being that she just moved she had not gotten insurance. The day the fire happened is when she was starting to take inventory for insurance. I remember the day before the fire Erin's excitement for starting to get settled in her new place that she shared with her fellow PC team members. She planned to take a short video to show us the new space in the coming days. Unfortunately, her new place never made it that point before the fire took it.
This is obviously a challenging time for Erin and everyone else from the Paradise area coming to the realization that they are starting over. If you know Erin like I know her, you know she is a caring and generous person that helps others. Anyone who would like to help her please donate what you can in this great time of need. Any support you can offer she will truly appreciate.

On a rather cold S. Cal. late afternoon, this Salvation Army volunteer with freezing toes and rosy cheeks was ringing the bell for donations!
The photograph captures a poignant moment of vulnerability. A homeless man, slumped against the seat of a public transportation bus in Oxnard, California, appears to be lost in a troubled sleep. His weary posture and the subtle tension in his features suggest a life marked by hardship and uncertainty. The scene evokes a sense of both sadness and a quiet desperation, highlighting the invisible struggles faced by many individuals living on the margins of society.
Humanitarians OR Tormentarians? Why Aren't They Doing Their Job?
April 25th, 2023, marked the day 262nd of my 4th Hunger Strike outside the UNHCR office where Greece seeks to starve me to death and nobody provides Humanitarian Relief. My ultra-thin body is now barely able to sustain life.
Thus, in pursuit of my survival, I had again tried reaching out to the UNHCR office in person to demand support, answers and solutions. But food and support have been denied, answers are not given and solutions have not been offered.
Hence, in my discussions with the UNHCR assistant representative last Friday I was at the end left with no choice but to request a five-way meeting with them and the representatives from the Canadian, the U.S. and the Australian Embassies to find a solution.
But whether they arrange that or not remains to be seen.

In the Enemy Camp, UNHCR Meeting.
About three weeks after my request to the UNHCR assistant representative on April 28th, 2023, for arranging a five-way meeting with them and the representatives from the Canadian, American, and Australian Embassies, I attended the said meeting on May 19th, 2022, with only UNHCR present. They also failed to provide copies of the documents submitted to them earlier. Due to financial constraints, I couldn't provide copies.
During the course of this discussion, however, the organization did not appear to have fully understood the gravity of the offenses against me. Rather, they endeavored to further incarcerate and enslave me in Greece.
Prior to concluding the meeting, I requested the presence of the Greek Minister of Immigration for an apology and recompense in the upcoming meeting. I also requested the intervention of UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi to expeditiously resolve this decade-long Hostage-taking in Greece.

Sometimes people need guidance and reliable information to make a right decision depending on the circumstances they found themselves in. But what if the people who give them deliberately lead you towards calamity and chaos?
Unfortunately, for many of us, the Refugees in Europe, that’s exactly what we find ourselves in when dealing with a bunch of deeply corrupt and rotten organizations who claim to be our help and guidance when we need them.
Hence, not getting any help from them, ultimately, we find no other choice other than looking for it in other places even if they seem not so relevant. For example, me, looking for help at the World Peace Council (WPC).
But as you can probably imagine they also didn’t offer any help.

My 27th Court Trial Outcome – A Minor Victory for Justice.
Since my unlawful deportation from Sweden back to Greece in 2015, I have been relentlessly prosecuted as a target of Europe's pushback. Wherever I seek assistance, instead of receiving aid, the police are called upon to take me away.
The announcement of my protest outside the UNHCR office on March 21st, 2017, has heightened the situation. Thus far, I have undergone 27 trials in the court, mostly due to my attempts to contact the UNHCR, and also some others for seeking assistance elsewhere.
For the first time ever, I had access to a lawyer but finding him was challenging. We had two meetings before the Court date. His objective was to dismiss the case due to lack of evidence and improper procedures. Although his motion was denied, but the ruling was ultimately in our favor due to lack of evidence.
A minor victory for justice, but far from justice being fully served and this Hostage-taking ending.

Is the U.S. Backing the Hostage-takers, and if so, why?
Having survived another Gallstone attack and probably the fourth food poisoning, hence in the face of the horrendous environments and covert operations all aiming at hurting me even further, I had once again written to the U.S. Embassy and requested their help in finding a solution to this ongoing Hostage-taking and answers to the following questions:
1)- Why are these people holding me Hostage in this country, wanting to starve me to death and won’t let me go?
2)- What is their end game and agenda?
3)- And what is the solution to this problem?
Moreover, I went to their Embassy as well on April 13th, seeking to speak with the U.S. Ambassador there and hoping to convey my request for help to the U.S. government through him.
Is the U.S. Backing the Hostage-takers? You may find out here: 👇
Without outside help, my survival is practically impossible and they may eventually manage to starve me to death.

The weathered wooden sign for Old St. Mary’s Center hangs proudly on a wrought iron bracket, its golden lettering glowing against the deep red brick of San Francisco’s oldest cathedral. Tucked along a shaded sidewalk at the edge of Chinatown, the entrance to the center leads downstairs, grounded beneath the towering church above. A man seated nearby, surrounded by belongings and shaded by leafy trees, adds a quiet, human presence to the frame. The iron railings and historic brick textures tell stories of a building that’s long served not only as a house of worship, but as a place for community and care.

although you may see something only slightly different, this is image 2,000 in my stream. I say this not to garner congratulations or kudos, but kind of an example of the coaching I had late last year from creativity+ (Tim) that has proven to be invaluable.
I uploaded 460 images last September and 370 in October, largely because I lacked prudence. On that pace, I would have had close to 6,000 images here. He liked my work, thought much was being missed and thought I could tidy up the quality of uploads through better selection on my part. He suggested I should upload between 1-3 images a day to allow viewers an easy choice of at least one on which to comment, if so inclined. In doing so, it also forces me to try and pick my best images for presentation (exclusive of some fooling around - i.e. being brittney bush, etc...). During January through October, my monthly image count has been between 50 to 72 images. I have pretty much posted only two a day. I'm just sharing this because I am indebted to Tim for counseling me at a time when we hardly knew each other, I feel it has made a huge impact on viewership of my stream and if anyone reading this benefits from what I learned from Tim, that is great and would be a little seredipity syrup.

Cydcor provided lunch for everyone in the office from Jersey Mike’s. But this isn’t your ordinary free lunch, this one is to help Operation Gratitude! Operation Gratitude annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Caregivers and individually-named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas. Their mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of Active Duty and Veteran communities, and to provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our military. Each package contains donated product valued at $75-100 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. Jersey Mike's Subs stores across Southern California have been supporting Operation Gratitude throughout the month of March. The culmination of this amazing campaign was today-- the “Day of Giving” -- when 100% of all sales in 104 locations are being donated to the cause. This means every penny spent at a Jersey Mike's today will be donated directly to @opgratitude and that from this day alone, over 30,000 care packages will be able to be sent to our Military and First Responders. Cydcor was glad to make a real impact by eating lunch from @jerseymikes today! Join the cause too! #lunchtime #contributing #charity #operationgratitude #support #veterans #cydcorcares #helpingothers ift.tt/1omIG8i
Pleading with South Africa for Mediation and Urgent Humanitarian Relief.
As to the best of my knowledge so far neither the #Japanese nor the #Indian embassy have agreed to play a mediating role in finding a resolution to this ongoing Hostage taking and my complete deprivation in Greece, I was left with no other choice but to approach and ask other countries to help.
Hence, following two of my earlier emails to them, I went to the embassy of #SouthAfrica last Wednesday to plead for their help in person too.
Unlike all the other embassies I have visited thus far, some of them even for years, I was received in a very civilized manner at their embassy and was also able to convey my request to them through two embassy officials there.
Accordingly, they agreed to arrange an appointment with their Ambassador for me after studying my emails in-depth.

In the Enemy Camp, UNHCR Meeting.
During a one-hour discussion with UNHCR representatives on May 19th, 2023, it was clear they do not grasp the severity of my situation in Greece. Rather, they persist in advocating for my continued incarceration and enslavement. They failed to summon representatives from the Canadian, American, and Australian embassies to discuss my rights to settle in one of those countries.
Furthermore, they failed to provide physical copies of the requested materials. Due to financial limitations, I was unable to obtain the copies myself. This caused an ongoing disagreement that led to the meeting adjourning to a later date.
However, prior to concluding the meeting, I requested the Greek Minister of Immigration to apologize and make amends at the next meeting, and emphasized the need to involve UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi in resolving the prolonged Hostage-taking situation in Greece.
