Even though the storm has passed, the recovery from Hurricane Matthew continues. Many of us were extremely lucky to receive only minor damage but not all of our neighbors were as fortunate. As part of the effort to help, Team Rubicon has been working with recruits from the Virginia Beach Fire Department in this home in Windsor Woods to facilitate their recovery.

Hiking the Subway in Zion Nat'l Park in mid-Oct. The water temp was around 40F (4C). The rocks were slick. I had my camera and my friend had his hand.

Lost toy. My 16 year-old son took this shot while we were trying to find the owner of a lost valuable we found while clearing tornado debris.

James and Joshua, well they are both more than great but when not sleeping they just keep wanting and wanting ;-)

I convinced my cousin to pose for a few portraits on what was probably the last warm summer night we'd have for a good 6 or 7 months.

I believe this is a grandson and father giving their grandfather and father (respectively) a helping hand down the street.
Something about this scene really moved me. It reminded me of what family is really about.
I felt compassion for the grandfather as walking seemed to be a bit of a struggle for him, but in the end he was in good hands. This scene was a reminder to me that although I seldom see it anymore, there is a little hope for humanity yet.

UMSL students, St. Louis County police officers and recruits, a handful of local high school students, and several UMSL faculty and staff volunteered their time and elbow grease mowing lawns, removing trash and performing basic maintenance at more than 50 spots in nearby Jennings, Mo., during this year’s Big Event. The service project was initiated by UMSL Students of Service in partnership with the Student Government Association and the St. Louis County Police Department, which directed the efforts. If you encounter someone being cyberbullied, you should always be kind to them. It is important to make sure they feel included by someone when others are making them feel left out. Stopbulling, gov states: "Show them that you care by trying to include them. Sit with them at lunch or on the bus, talk to them at school, or invite them to do something. Just hanging out with them will help them know they aren’t alone."

My trip to the Dominican Republic was not all about partying on the beach at some swanky Punta Cana resort (although I did enough of that too). I was there with a group of about 50 of our customers and fellow employees to participate in a volunteer effort to upgrade and repair a local elementary school in an impoverished local community - Bávaro, Dominican Republic
