Please help me everyone; I am having mixed reviews... I am happy with the contour of this man's face with a balance of light exposure and contrast... I am not sure what I have done wrong or what I could do better?

pair of Norfolk Southern helper locomotives drift down "the slide" on the number one mainline descending the east slope of the Allegheny mountains on a clear morning where the mercury is hovering near Zero degrees F with intermittent 45 mph wind gusts dropping the wind chill below -30 F. Main tracks 2 and 3 share one of the two original Pennsy tunnels which had been rebuilt for higher clearances and double track; the old Main 4 tunnel is abandoned on the right.
A common pair on the East and West Slope made their way to Harrisburg after rescuing Amtrak train 42 in Pittsburgh. Apparently the P42 locomotive couldn't get the train out of the Steel City that morning, and a call went out to NS for help getting the passenger train to Harrisburg. These two SD40E's did the job, pulling the train here off the Pittsburgh Line and under the wires onto Amtrak rails. An Amtrak ACS-64 was tacked onto the front once the helpers were removed and the train continued to Philadelphia several hours off their normal schedule.
Test - this is ONLY a test! AT&T is still working this issue, which is affecting the people on our small road here on the Elk River. Upload speed is sad! This is only a 22kb file- has taken all day to stay connected long enough to get here!
I have been wearing my sad face for a while now, per internet connectivity, etc.
I went to check on my favorite little bird this morning. He was sharing a powerline with a Willow Flycatcher and singing his heart out.
I was able to help out a fellow Birder, Kevin get his lifer.
A set of MRL helpers shove grain loads out of Livingston, MT where some searchlights remain. March 2022.
Meet Mom's Helper. The mom of the twins has picked up a helper; this most likely young female, has been helping out with the twins lately. When the four of them are around, the mom and twins don't stick around but this gal let's you get close. Not only that, she goes about her business of eating and doesn't pay too much attention. I think she may have been born on our property and is one of Mom's offspring but I'm not really sure.
So on a Macro Mondays posting recently someone mentioned that they didn’t have a ruler and hoped their picture was within the 3” parameters. And I got to thinking about teaching my elementary kids about measuring —- you always have a ruler with you….
For most people the distance between the first and second knuckle on your forefinger (pointer) is about an inch - even on adults. Go ahead try it… For those of you using metric measurements it’s about 2.4cms…..
So now you can measure macro items with more confidence!…… (By the way, another equivalency - the distance between your bent wrist and your crooked elbow is about the size of your foot. There are others.)
And if you’ve stuck with me for this science/math lesson— wish me a happy birthday 🎂- yes, it really and truly is my birthday!!

One more time. Not to ignore what's going on in Libya right now either.
In this shot, I love the effects of the ocean breeze on the Japanese Flag. It is surrounded by two American Flags, although one is hiding behind the palm tree.
Thank you again to everyone who left heartfelt comments on the last two pics. It means a lot.
Have a fantastic Sunday!

Something amazing has just happened – my new book Phoenix just got a great review in the Guardian! Please please please, if you have a moment, could you click the link and then share the review? There are buttons there for facebook, twitter, pinterest, blogs, etc... It would really help to spread the word about the book, and would mean a huge amount to me!

After my night shift yesterday, I took a bit of a stroll through the West End and came upon this Street art by Loretto. It depicts British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Near Regent Street. September 2017.
I have previously photographed a couple of other pieces by
Loretto in the same area. The links are below.
