This is a photo of Toffee from 10 years ago. We are heartbroken. Toffee was 21 years old, and I had him for 19 of those.
He stopped eating a couple days ago and went peacefully in his sleep early this morning.
Toffee, thanks for being such a beautiful and lovable kitty.
Slater, our mini schnauzer, went up and lovingly nuzzled Toffee after he was gone, which was surprising because they were such adversaries.
Ode to Toffee:
Your golden eyes and blondest hair
You'd sneak up on me like a ghost
Return the favor of the scare
With a bounce you'd fly through the air
A wiser kitty I do not know
You opened all the closet doors
Since you were little, long ago

Originally I did the heartbroken bride a little too graphic and it wasn't really my style (on the right). I decided to redo it but keep the veil and this is what I came up with.

Yesterday our Katie girl crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief. I alternate between intense sadness and feeling that it's all surreal. I want to rewind time and take her on more camping trips, more hikes, more car rides. 14 wonderful years with her, but it's still never enough. So many things in our little family will never be the same. We'll never have another dog like her and will miss our Moose forever. We love you Katie. 2004-2019 ❤️🌈💔

....that my friends and neighbors in Broome County, New York are once again enduring terrible flooding. In 2006, flooding was the worst ever seen in the area, and was called a "500 year flood" , yet five years later this one was even worse. But lessons were learned the last time and there have been no reported deaths.
The destruction of property and roadways, and lives is unimaginable.....even as we watch wildfires and, drought, and flooding all across the US. Oh how I hope we can repair Mother Nature, and on a smaller scale, the damage all around us.

I am just heartbroken to hear the news that one of my Flickr contacts Cat Johnson has died of breast cancer. She had a little boy who was only 5. It must have been so hard for her to think of leaving her husband and son.... She was a great person who took beautiful photos and took the time to leave sweet comments on my photos. She will be missed...
