Part of my lunch today...I do love a big salad! And yes, this really is how I eat it: plain with just a little vinaigrette. Kraft Greek Vinaigrette is my favorite, which is what this is. So tasty.

What are you looking at? Dip of organic refried beans with top of sour cream, guacamole and red peppers, organic low salt corn chips. Back-to-School biscuit from the Vegan Lunchbox cookbook, some delicious organic grapes. We paid $2.00 for a huge bag :o)
What are you looking at? Cored cucumbers and cut up tomato, delicious melon, a sandwich with that dodgy bread that dad KEEPS buying - chicken, lettuce and organic mayonnaise, a bottle of dressing for the cucumbers, and the left over bits of the LMMBs from the frezzer.

My son's day to bring a snack for his kindergarten class. My rule is it needs to be fun, but it needs to have some nutritional value. Anyway, they're studying owls this week as a part of their unit on owls, bats, and spiders...obviously buildingup to halloween. Soooo, in keeping with the theme...I made owl face kits. Each child got a freshly milled organic whole wheat and oat flour sugar cookie (SUPER yummy...not one of those disappointing healthy cookies), two apple slices dipped in water with lemon to keep them from browning, 3 orange slices, and 2 chocolate chips...which the kids pointed out were for the pupils. It was a hit.
Grabbed an apple from the tree this afternoon. (I really liked the little leaf) I think I'll take a rest from the studio for a few days and let some ideas simmer...

What are you looking at? Cannelini beans, goat's curd, jelly (minus the junk from Macro - this was still set hard at lunchtime when packed in the insulated bag with an ice pack), chicken drumettes, cherry tomatoes. Grissini on the side to dip in the goat's curd.

What are you looking at? Red pepper and broccoli (only very lightly cooked), edamame, turkey and cranberry sauce on wholemeal sandwich, a mini babybel cheese and a passionfruit cupcake very kindly donated by the local cafe 'Lulabelle's' in Hartwell - well worth a visit if you're in Melb. soooo many gorgeous things...
What are you looking at? Lunchbox banana, slice of Rhubarb Xmas cake - still going with that Xmas cake! Peking duck with cucumber in a pancake taken from the freezer from leftovers after a Sunday morning pancake extravaganza (they freeze so well!) and broccoli and cherry tomato with a dot of Japanese mayonnaise.
What are you looking at? Corn on the cob from the Farmers' Market, potato croquette, seedless red grapes, Japanese chicken balls from the freezer, slices of cheddar cheese, organic wafer biscuits and a 'honey-bee' no bake treat with almond wings from the Vegan Lunchbox cookbook.
Salami, red pepper, tamari organic rice crackers, zuccini and riccotta muffin, half an orange filled with no numbers lemon jelly, a nectarine and some cut up romas. I still marvel at the fact that jelly stays set hard until lunchtime in an insulated container - this jelly is set with carragean too not geletin.
Seriously, I think this may be the healthiest meal I've ever eaten! Turkey on gently-toasted potato bread, with smoked cheese and coleslaw, green salad with carrot and home-made dressing (thanks Steph for both!) and home-made berry and banana smoothie (thanks again Steph).

What are you looking at? Half an apple cucumber (dressing in the dressing bottle below), dried apricots, a homemade Groke (from the Moomins) wholemeal biscuit, egg rolls with ham, fantastic dragon cutter carrots - cutter from the local asian market.
I'm making bento lunches again! This is my son's lunch for summer school today. He's having animal-shaped sandwiches made with sprouted 7 grain bread, organic lunch meat, cheese, and spinach. The scrap pieces from cutting out the animal shape are on the bottom followed by a layer of roasted seaweed. Top left box has cotton candy flavor grapes. Top right is a corn, heirloom tomato, bean salad with homemade avocado dressing. I'm so glad my son will eat anything and everything
