Thanks again everyone for appreciating my work.

By looking at his face, one may say that his guy is already past 60 years old. The fact, however, is that hard work and apparent lack of daily necessities over many years has made him look much older than his biological age - 54 years old.

I met this guy while he is doing his daily work as an "independent" junk collector.

According to him, he goes around the villages near his place of residence where he picks up empty bottles and tin cans and other recyclable materials from garbage bins on the streets.

When his bicycle cart is already half full, he goes home and then stores the junk materials at his residential yard until such time his collection is sufficient enough for sale at a certain junk yard.

This is part of a forthcomong series of images documenting Semana Santa (Easter) in Taxco and Cacalotenango, Mexico in April 2007.

This Easter I traveled to the colonial town of Taxco, Mexico to rest and document the Semana Santa customs originally brought from Spain almost 500 years ago – rituals once banned have been regularly practiced in Taxco once a year for the past 100 years or so. One can see, hear, and sense the processions as they wind through the ancient cobblestone streets. Children dressed as angels, followed by the faithful shouldering beautifully carved religious statuses. I witnessed “penitentes” who show their faith through self-inflicted suffering.

These re-enactments and processions are an amalgamation of Spanish and pre-Columbian worship and culture. For example, the use of percussion and musical instruments, and the specific qualities of “penitente” practices. The indigenous identification with Christ’s (Jews) suffering at the hands of the Romans mirrors their own history of suffering at the hands of the conquistadors. The flagellation practices are reminiscent of those found in Aztec culture. Their use of decorations, plants (zarzamora) and materials by the “penitentes” are clear adaptations to medieval Spanish customs and ritual.

Taxco is reported to be the “Silver Center of the World” where four tons of silver a month are made into jewelry and other works of art. In the late 1920s, the charm of this colonial hillside town attracted William Spratling, a North American architect, writer and artist, and his charisma in turn made Taxco “the haunt of Bohemian American artists and literati.” Since 9/11 they’ve been hit hard. These are a proud, hardworking people who are very devout in their spirituality and commitment to their families. This is the first of a series of images captured in Taxco as well as Cacalotenango.

It looked so amazing, the white snow and the dark brown square! A huge flock of seaguls were helping the farmer. There were a sea of gulls behind the plough, and then a truck drowe by, and they all flew away, before I could shoot them! :(

Decarbonising my Classic Mini. It's dirty work and can be hard going at times. But the reward is a Mini that runs far better than it did before. "Hard Work".. "Flickr Friday".

The Neptunian Utility Transport Services (N.U.T.S.) team is back with a new Crawler to support their appetite for some oversized acorns that grow on Neptunian moon Triton. The Crawler proved to be an instrumental transport vehicle that provides the needed stability and protection from the strong winds. It is those strong winds that blow the acorns far and wide, requiring long expeditions in collecting the acorns. The Crawler is supported by two additional vehicles that gather the acorns when the winds subside. A team of four hardworking Squirrelites named Sandy, Andy, Mandy and Randy operate the Crawler and the supporting harvesting machinery.

The team of four Squirelites were last seen in 2016 on another light supporting vehicle in this expedition photo .

Many Filipino workers are not aware of the significance of their work, except in earning money. They don’t care about the result of their performance because they are only smart workers. Some Filipinos use their muscle, heart and mind to achieve excellent performance without thinking of the monetary reward or public cognizance. They are widely wanted because they are hard workers.

How are all the beautiful bricks of Bhakatpur made, and who works in the brick factories around the city? Ratna Prasad Prajapati, the owner of KP Brick Industry, invited me for tea and told me how he started small 30 years ago and now employs 400 men and women to produce high-quality bricks. He said the cheap competition from China and India makes life difficult for them. Could I take photos on the premises? Of course, he was delighted by my interest! #nepal #brickfields #hardwork #tradition #bhaktapur

The exhaust fan in the bathroom suddenly decided to stop working. I attempted a repair after wrestling it out of the ceiling, but looks like I'll have to replace it.

It's harvest time around here and you can see tractors and various other machinery working day and nighttime. As long as the wheather is dry the harvest has to be taken in. So in this case, nighttime is the right time for the farmers.
