Once commonly used. This meat mincer languishes at the back of a cupboard. It belonged to my Grandparents then my Parents, it's now mine! HMM
Here we see the male Gorilla teaching its young how to capture a Manfrotto Pixi. It's a tough world for these tripods I use as my go to tools. Without them my photos would be a blur.
Good morning everybody and a happy macro monday. On this macro picture you see the cutting part of a wire cutter. The cut face already did a lot of work and there are a few marks on it. HMM #MacroMondays
Before electrically powered hand tools these human powered hand tools made construction easier, faster and more uniform. All you needed was a person to power it and a little lubrication in the conveniently provided port.
This is an M6 size thread cut with a die. Threads are hand cut using taps or dies : taps cut internal or female threads and dies cut external or male.

I've been so busy with a new job role, away from home involving lots of rail travel, that I have not picked up with camera for some great HMM subjects for weeks - hence this week I have to revert to the archive.
Macro Mondays' theme for the 11th June 2018 is 'Handtool' hence today's subject matter.

Shot for entry in two challenges, but then I realized it didn't meet the requirements for one of them. Oh well.
It's still a good fit for Macro Mondays Cogwheel theme.
Subject
An old hand-drill. I keep it on my boat so that I don't have to rely on battery power in case of emergency. Hand drills have saved my bacon more than once when sailing.
Lighting
It's the Sun. Really, really bright South Florida sunshine!
Lens
SMC PENTAX-FA Macro 100mm F2.8
It's a great lens for macro work, and a darn sharp telephoto to boot.
