Macro Mondays "Hand Tool" submission.
I inherited this Stanley No. 45 Wood Plane from my father who inherited it from his father who was a carpenter. Long before the router was invented, it was used to make moldings and decorative trim for finishing carpentry and furniture.
While it hasn't touched a piece of wood in earnest for decades, this Stanley wood plane is a nice piece of family history.

A pair of traditional irons, part of my dear wife's impressive collection of junk which mysteriously tend to feature in FlickrFridays.
There are two photos here, window lit, blended within Photoshop. Each is focused on the detail of one of the irons. One formed the background, the other was overlayed and erased as necessary to get a single image of both irons in focus to sidestep that pesky depth of focus thingy. A cluttered background was erased with just some of the wooden tabletop and reflection retained to prevent them apparently floating in mid air. Finally, to reflect the antique nature of the image, it was turned to monochrome
Not one, but two tools! A pair of nail clippers held in place by a tool that has a strong magnet on this end and will telescope out to about 12 inches. It's used to pick up nails, dropped wrenches, or anything metal.
The act of running a sharp hand plane along a piece of wood is, at least, meditative.

50 cent of Lithuanian coin, - back from 1999 when Lithuania had own currency... And flowers on top of it chopped off by knight and his horse.

there was some image police ;) concern so i Rearranged:
subject is smaller than the width of your coin, sitting on top of the coin and not extend horizontally past the edge of the coin in any direction
I recently turned a bamboo chopping board into a magnetic knife rack for the kitchen. To do this, I chiselled out a grove on the back of the board and filled it with Nd magnets. The chisel is sitting on some of the bamboo shavings here. There's something satisfying doing things by hand.
HMM Flickr :)
Offering for Macro Monday's hand tools. Small socket set, the red in the image is the reflection of the case.
When stitching my needlepoint projects, I use a nail clipper instead of scissors. They work well and airport security has no problem with them.
