My grandmother passed away last August, at the age of 95. When the family was going through her things, they came across several small dresses that she had made, and gave a few to my daughter. Today she picked one to wear. This is a detail of the skirt near the hem. I believe that the heart trim is handmade lace, because there are imperfections that make me think it's not machine-sewn. I didn't even know she knew how to make lace. I guess she really could make everything. ♥

my first wire-wrapped earrings! aren't they pretty? :)
I used here silver wire and a Czech glass briolette in deep purple tone. They are rather small yet very elegant. And all this is thanks to one great jewellery artist - Monika Laskowska, who created great tutorial for making those earrings (http://aniolek-maly.deviantart.com/art/Wire-wrapping-free-tutorial-108504643). Two large side doors open to reveal handcrafted Maple/Walnut hook bars to hang necklaces, ties and scarves. Lid has etched mirror framed with egg&dart moulding and soft down stay mechanism. Trays are custom divided to owner's collection of jewelry, make-up, etc. Also contains hidden compartment for special items.

candle arches are an old tradition in the erzgebirge /germany. miners used to build bigger versions of candle arches surrounding the gallery entrance of their mines.
especially in dark winter and christmas time they started their work before sunrise and finished their work after sunset, so the light of a candle arch was their substitute for the sun. within the years it became a tradition and very popular to put smaller versions inside the windows at winter and christmas time. the candle arch seen above is an upper lusatian adaption made by my father. it shows a family heading home to their typical upper lustitian house, the man standing next to the trees is robber karaseck our upper lusitian version of robin hood ,,,

Design Obsessions: Fix8 - Meet Me Under the Mistletoe
Pincushion Cat Jacky is a completely functional pincushion for sewers or can be used as a cool decorative piece. The majority of this pincushion was hand sewn. Jacky, like all my other creations, is handcrafted and made from my own patterns.
The kitty pincushion is made of orange and black felt. The head and tail are black and the belly is orange. The jack-o-lantern face is black felt stitched on. There is also orange embroidery floss covering the 4 belly seams to make the pumpkin segments. His face consists of pins. He has an orange felt pumpkin hat with a brown stem and green leaf attached to his head. The feet are made from black pom poms. He is firmly stuffed with 100% polyester fiberfill. I also made a sand pouch from cotton fabric and sewed that inside the pincushion which gives him more stability.
He stands approximately 5.5 inches (14 cms) tall and measures approximately 11.25 inches (28.5 cms) around the belly.
