This morning after Kyle took the dog out, I stood in front of the window and stretched as I watched him cross the parking lot with Molly. In mid stretch, with my arms reaching to the ceiling, I felt something at the base of my neck pop...in a bad way. Every few months, Kyle gets a muscle spasm that is so bad he has to call into work. It never fully goes away for at least a week. It's never happened to me, but low and behold, it did. Luckily, he got some painkillers and muscle relaxers when he went to the doctor about it, and they helped, although they made me loopy and sleepy all day long.
There is enough for everyone. I laugh when I hear kids say, "I liked that song first and now she likes it.....GOSH!"
Just finished this read while doing lots of holding and feeding my new little man. Now that I'll be at home for the next six months, I am excited about adjusting back into being a full time mom. I figure I need to find me some Zen in the everyday activities I will be doing on repeat.
I can relate to her descriptions about finding the joy in everyday chores such as doing the laundry. I love having clean diapers for the boys, soft and squishy ready for a clean bum. I especially love folding miniature people clothes- for me there is something very maternal about holding a itty bitty onesie that just warms my heart.
What I need to work on after reading her book is keeping the soul alive in the kitchen- taking a break from cleaning is not good for the sink or counter space.. .and keeping on top of the yard work. I look out at the yard so often, that I need to find the time to enjoy being outside while pulling up all the unwanted plants that invade our yard each Spring.

This hand shows you how much we are alike
this hand asks for a respite
this is the hand of an enslaved, endangered animal
this hand begs for freedom
freedom of the forest
freedom of the skies
freedom of the seas
Let us live wildly in our own habitat
Let us be free
Just let us be!
For Our Daily Challenge topic - 'Small luxury.' I have some extra-special pearls from my years in China. The gray ones are especially rare, also the flat-ish pink-ish ones. I dont have the kind of life style to wear any of these more than about once a year. Its sort of sad that the stay in a closed drawer.
More small luxuries below.

This old outlier farm building sits on state park land where I often hike. I've been wanting to paint this and not wanting to paint this. Nothing makes me feel more like the amateur I am than trying my hand at buildings and landscapes.
Is there a term for this particular type scene? It's not a still life, but it kind of IS at the same time ..??
Art journal, various watercolors, art pens, white gouache -- basically everything in my arsenal to try and capture what I saw.
