It’s crazy to think about how short technology life spans are before they are replaced with a newer, shinier model that advertisers tell us we MUST have. Take my iPod for instance: at one point I thought it was cool and new, which was followed by it being outdated and old… and finally it’s now old enough to be cool and “vintage”. This has all happened inside of 10 years. Pretty crazy. Damn you Apple!
Motivational guru Wayne Dyer sadly passed away this weekend but left us with lots of inspirational words like these.
This client wanted his old Ford truck lettered to look like it might have been done 50 years ago. I mixed up the paint with a bunch of clear and flattening paste to accentuate the strokes and give it a faded out look.
Stevenson University presented “The Draw of Hand Lettering,” a sweeping survey that features a variety of contemporary posters, prints, logotypes, and packaging that embraces the tactile and expressive qualities of hand lettering. The exhibition—comprising the work of more than 30 designers worldwide—is on display through Oct. 2 in the University’s School of Design Gallery located on the Owings Mills North campus.
