In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14 (ESV)

Hand lettering was used on so many Direction covers. (No fee for setting type, just create your own.) Paul Rand designed cover for Direction 1942.
This phrase came to me via a bumper sticker on a car that was driving in front of me. I can always appreciate bumper sticker wisdom… and on another note… maybe I shouldn’t be driving so close to cars in front of me?
I get a lot of questions about whether I ever run out of ideas for drawing, and the answer to that question is yes, all of the time, actually. When I have these artist blocks, I try to step away from the drawing board to take my mind off things as much as possible. Tonight I had a major artist’s block, and decided to draw just that: problem solved!

My piece for the Poster Caberet Bike Show!
My older brother got me waaay into Young Guns and I think it's awesome that Warren G samples the movie in this 90s hit.
This piece came to me pretty organically. I was listening to the song “Notorious Thugs” by Biggie Smalls while I was flipping through some pictures of Zoey, my 4 year old pug, and decided to take a few random lyrics from the song and pair it up with a drawing of a pug inspired by Zoey. This one goes out to my girlfriend Nikki, who has been bugging me to do a pug drawing for as long as I can remember! I finally caved in, haha.
I have been experimenting with hand lettering over photos recently; it has been a lot of fun combining my passion for photography and typography together, you can see more over at my Instagram account. instagram.com/jackmanchiu
This is a lyric taken from Atmosphere’s “Don’t Ever Fucking Questions That”, and it’s one of my favorites. Make the love, paint the picture, write the song.
When I was younger I was obsessed with Reebok Pumps (still fascinated to this day, actually). I remember that my mom wouldn’t buy me the real pumps, so I’d always have to settle for the generic brand which wasn’t nearly as cool and I probably couldn’t jump as high either. I think my next sneaker purchase will definitely be a pair of Reebok Pumps – can’t wait! Anyhow – this piece comes from a Foster the People song called “Pumped Up Kicks”.
This is one of 2 signs that I got out of an old sign shop in Pa. they are lettered on both sides in 2 different styles and scolors
I was recently reading an article that featured an inspiring quote by Tony Robbins, it said: "Success comes from taking initiative and following up…. persisting… eloquently expressing the depth of your love. What simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum toward success in your life?"
Persistence opens many doors, so keep the momentum, push onward and the upward will come.

It’s crazy to think about how short technology life spans are before they are replaced with a newer, shinier model that advertisers tell us we MUST have. Take my iPod for instance: at one point I thought it was cool and new, which was followed by it being outdated and old… and finally it’s now old enough to be cool and “vintage”. This has all happened inside of 10 years. Pretty crazy. Damn you Apple!
