It always amazes me, just how creepy trees are at night, with a halogen light blaring through them like a massive eye.

The original halogen MR16s were 50 Watt, 36 degree beam angle. We replaced them with Philips 10W LEDs that had a tighter, 15 degree beam angle. We used the lamps to only light what was important, which was the table tops, the art work and the flower arrangements. We used a special technique to get a warmer glow than even 2700K, to great effect.
Shot and processed with Camera+. Additional processing with Aperture. A halogen light bulb backlit by a small lamp.
Got myself some cheap Studio lighting, a 6 foot tall 300w halogen uplighter that lets you tilt the top by 90 degree's, if I construct some sort of reflector it should work fine....:-)))
Cost £7
Nadia's house is full of carefully chosen, beautiful things. These are just a few that caught my eye this day.

Strobist: Halogen lights subject left and right outside of a softbox. 430EX at 1/8th power fired via Cybersyncs through camera left of the box.
Some more from my 1000 watt halogen strobe set up. I'm not a muscian, anymore at least. That is no way to hold a studio microphone.

Well I'm not sure who clicked the shutter, but it was a joint effort with my daughter. We had a 500W halogen out in the driveway uplighting the ivy and it looked neat so out came the camera.
When else can you play with a 500W halogen for lighting?
Overhead halogen lighting in my kitchen. These are actually pink tulips but I shot in raw and played with the white balance afterwards. I wanted the greens to stand out which caused the flowers to go orange.
Fun to build, descended from the shining cent.
600 mAh 12.8v power
20w halogen flood bulb
8" steel pipe
Brass lockout tailcap
Momentary-only thumb switch
200-300 lumens
20 minutes of delicious output
$25 to build (mainly with duct tape and very basic tools)
Missing niceties like front glass, durability.
I took this picture with a Tamron lens I have just acquired. I just needed anything to shoot, and the light fixture seemed to provide an interesting subject for the moment.
F stop 2.8; shutter speed 1/250; ISO 400
Used halogen desk lamp on floor to the right of subject; light blue T-shirt to cover carpet. No photoshop used.
I did several different varieties of this shot just because I loved how the hair was placed like sun rays. I love the half-shadowed face and nearly crisp line it creates while still accenting the subject's chin, lips, that dip between the mouth and nose, and forehead. I also love the slight shine to the right cheek and on the lower lip. Even though the picture is taken from above the subject, the slight tip of her chin, downward glance of her eye, and smirk gives the viewer a sense of inferiority, if not subconsciously, therefore balancing the feel of the image. If I were to retouch this in photoshop I would fill in the carpet peeking through between the shirt and shoulder and tighten the tank strap.
