"_______ ......................." And You Just Turn And Nod Your Head In His Direction. "What Happened To You..... You've.. Changed................ So Much. I Dont Even Know Who You Are Anymore. And It Hurt Me, That You Wont Talk To Me For A Year" Then, The Bell Had Rung Ending Class. You Were Happy And Rushed Out The Door. But Before That Could Happen, Matt Had Grabbed Your Arm. "Why?" And You just looked At Him With Your Now Blank Green Eyes. Staring Into His Now Cold Icy Blue Eyes. The Happy Feeling They Had Was Replaced With Angry, Pure Angry. And All You Could Do Was Look Down At His Hand Holding Your Arm. Then You Shook Your Arm And He Let Go And Watch You Walk Away. But The One Question You Had Wondered Was Why? And From That Moment On, You Knew Nothing Would EVER Be The Same. During Math The Next Day, Matt Wasnt There. You Wondered Where He Had Went. The Next Day............. He Was Still Gone, BUT You FINALLY Decided To Stop By His House And See If He Was There. You Took A Deep Breath And Knocked. The Door Opened But You Saw No One Behind It. You Slowly Walked In And There You Saw Him, Just Laying There On His Bed. You Ran As Fast As Your Feet Could Take You to The Bed He Was Lying In There. You Saw His Eyes Open. They Looked Red, And You Had Finally Found The Courage To Ask "Why..........?" "Because.... _______ , I Love You, But All You Did Was Push me Away I Never Had The Chance To Tell You. Everytime I Tried To tell You, Something Came Up. And When I Found Out Why You Hadnt Talked To Me In A Year, It Hurt Me To Know. That I Had Tried To Move On, But I Just Couldnt. I THOUGHT I HAD LOST YOU FOREVER!" Your Mouth Wont Move, It Was Like You Had A Lump In Your Throat. Your Mouth Felt Pain When You Could Finally Move Your Lips To Form Words. "...... Im........................... I.................................Umm....

.......................... I Love You...." Was All Your Lips Would Let You Speak Before That Lump Came Back. When You Felt Something Warm On Your Lips. And Then The Next Thing You Knew Your Were At Your Wedding Marrying Matt, Kissing Him. After You Looked Through ALL The Pictures You And Him Took, All The Memories You And Him Had. Then You Begun Staring Out The Window Watching Him Playing With Your Two Kids, Rubbing Your Stomach, Smiling<3

My Mum used to take me to Halifax as a child (1970s). There was a toyshop called (I Think) Heywoods in the Market. One day in the window was this bus painted in Metro colours. This is in the days when the ONLY bus you could buy was a Red Routemaster - the choice being Corgi or Dinky (I preferred Dinky!). So, Heywoods had in the window a bus in Metro Colours. It was like an angel had shown me something wonderful and I wanted it badly. The shop told me that they only had a small number to sell. Okay so it was still a Routemaster and they were only in London and whoever painted it hadnt matched the Verona Green or Buttermilk livery correctly- but this was a green and cream Metro Bus and the only non red toy bus I had seen. The price was High - I seem to remember around £20 - which nowadays I would think be about £60/70 at least! I badgered Mum until she (saved hard and) got me one for my Birthday. The bus shown here isnt the original its my own version. It was seeing this bus in that toyshop window that made me realise that even though the only buses you could buy were red - it didnt have to be that way - and that realisation by a small boy was the start of a Bus Hobby/Fascination/Interest that I still do today and get immense pleasure from. I owe my bus modelling to that repainted Routemaster sold at a v high price in a local toyshop - and I now have this repainted Routemaster I did for myself to remind me of that bus. I will treasure it.

Went to the coast to catch the prseid meteor shower. Saw a few (you can see some in the shot, but actually the startrail conditions were pretty good. Would have been even better if some joker hadnt walked over the bridge with a torch....

I love hats....and scarves (but you may not have noticed!0

We actually drove for miles to get some christmas crackers....and on our way out of the store I happened upon these...It was no good. I had this `thing` controlling me again, and then.....as I held them in my hands...these three French Berets...I thought of YOU! A realized that I HAD to have them just for YOU or I knew that you would never have forgiven me if I hadnt have bought these three berets just for YOU!

What I dont understand is that Fluffy has just muttered "Nice Try, Ed!" and I cant for the life of me think what he means by it....

England is below freezing right now...well below and a lot of snow is forecast which will mean that tomorrow, Day 11 I may NOT be able to go out and do any Christmas shopping for friends which is such a shame.

I was sooo looking forward to it!....................................TBC

Couldnt get enough of this place, if you hadnt noticed, would like a revisit already

Took a trip upto the old plane musium which unfortunatly will probably be my last as they are gradually clearing everything out - Managed to grab a 20 minute trail over this before we agreed it was too cold and time to leave.

Our night was nearly ruined by a homles guy routing through bins only metres from where we were set up (on a different shot), he didn't seem phased atall when i lit him up with with my torch thinking it was one of the others trying to scare us- He just caried on doing his thing asif he hadnt seen us :S

Mission bay, in the middle of summer. The most amazing day, there were thunder clouds about 400 meters away and we could hear the thunder and see the lightening but it just didnt come near us.

Today was a day to catch up with all my old friends from my last school. Most of them i hadnt seen in over a year and it was just the perfect day. I spent months planning this and am so glad it turned out.

Friday I'm In Love

The Cure

I don't care if Monday's blue

Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too

Thursday I don't care about you

It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart

Tuesday, Wednesday, break my heart

Thursday doesn't even start

It's Friday, I'm in love

Thank crunchie its Friday, thats all I can say!

This 4 day long weekend has been a long time coming, and its badly needed.

Headed out to La Perouse / Bare Island this morning with my good mate Paul, on the promise of some very good cloud, and thankfully, Mother Nature played ball.

We were sitting in the car having a chat in the pitch dark, and I noticed there were some flowers growing wild along the clifftops. On with the head torch, out for a quick stroll, and found my comp within seconds.

This scene really called for a pano, and I hadnt shot one in over a year, but I had my rig with me in the car (just in case), so again, one of the benefits of arriving to a shoot early, was, after finding my comp, it gave me plenty of time to set up the rig, and find my settings for my 35mm prime.

This is a 5 shot pano, stitched in PSCC, and I'm really happy with it.

Hope you like "Friday I'm In Love"

Cheers, Mike

Right Here Waiting

Richard Marx

Ocean's apart day after day

And I slowly go insane

I hear your voice on the line

But it doesn't stop the pain

If I see you next to never

How can we say forever

Wherever you go

Whatever you do

I will be right here waiting for you

Whatever it takes

Or how my heart breaks

I will be right here waiting for you

I took for granted, all the times

That I thought would last somehow

I hear the laughter, I taste the tears

But I can't get near you now

Took a day to catch up with some mates today. Headed off down to Bowral and got a fantastic guided tour from a local and a great friend Aurora Jane (Dawn). Thanks so much for taking the time out to show us around Dawn. It was stunning, and you picked some cracking locations for us. Great to catch up with my mate who I hadnt seen for a while, Mr Ian Burrows, and once again brilliant to have my good friend Mr Paul Bartle along for some great company. Thanks guys. Hope you like "Right Here Waiting"....Cheers, Mike

Barred Owl perched amongst some last colorful Autumn leaves that hadnt fallen yet...

after driving around for an eternity with little motivation and more or less missing sunrise i headed up to this place. ashness bridge. a popular shot but one i hadnt took in quite some time. plenty of water flowing due to recent and welcomed rainfall.

The best description I could come up with for something I hadnt seen before

if it hadnt been so cold, i could have stayed there all day just looking at this grooming swan :)

I recently went for a drive around the South Shields area since I hadnt ventured that way since moving to Gateshead over 6 months ago! I came across a little village called Seaburn and then headed north and found an amazing rock and cliffs standing about 100ft in the air. There were lots of birds around but I didnt get much time to photograph them as my newborn son was starting to get a little restless! Anyway, I did manage to catch this pigeon in midflight which I am very happy with :o)

This pigeon is turning very tightly - this is a photo looking down on the pigeon with the sand and sea behind. This is not a shot from below!

had to get out and get some fresh air and take some photo's today so took a trip to Clumber park i spent 2 hours in the rain and hadnt bagged anything to shout about until i was 100 meters from getting back to the car and i saw these cygnets hitching a ride

Had a bit of a happy accident with this one... I opened the camera by accident when the film hadnt been completely rewinded inside. Behold, the light leak from hell!

The Northern Blue again. You would be thinking that I hadnt pressed the white balance button for this shot but infact that is how blue the sky really was.The Northern blue they call it and it turns a saught of dark greyish blue as it gets darker and darker.

Oookay this might be the last one out of this series... :) Well Im not sure, maybe I shouldnt promise that too early rofl.

Hadnt had time to process much else yet. But this might be my most fave still life composition I have done yet :)

I found this gorgeous tiny feather on the ground when I was taking another shot. It obviously came from a rainbow lorikeet. I love Australian birds :)

Oh and I met a flickr friend today in the city - check out Brendan and his project. I had a lot of fun listening to random strangers and just wandering around. I took my film camera Roger and found all these amazing shots, then I got home and realised that I hadnt loaded the film enough and none of them came out. Devo. I'm an idiot sometimes, I normally double check but the one time I dont - rahh.

UPDATE: This image was featured in the August 2009 issue of Popular Photography Magazine. It was selected 1st in the "Your Best Shot" contest.

On the last morning of my stay in Redding California, Chaybert (Brian Rueb) picked me up from my hotel before sunrise. It was extremely foggy with some slight drizzle in the air. Brian said he didnt have long so he'd take me to a local spot "not too far". He was extremely secretive about the location and he might of threatened to blindfold me if it hadnt been for the intense fog that shrouded the entire area keeping me from establishing any landmarks during the journey.

We weaved through a few side streets then jumped on a freeway (I-5 I think) for a few minutes then off and onto a side road. Next, he said "normally I climb through the blackberry bushes..." and points to a 20 foot thick wall of skin ripping sticker bushes..."but then I found this path...and it's an easy hike to the water." I sighed with relief.

We walked about a quarter mile to these rocky shapes that had clearly been carved out by water and time. The fog still hung low to the river so we quickly picked some compositions and starting shooting. I really liked how the distant trees looked sillouetted in the fog so I was sure to include them. The fresh green moss wasnt as slippery as it looked but we still stepped cautiosly from rock to rock just in case.

As we wrapped up, the fog began to lift and the mysterious feeling of this place began to dissapate. Walking back to the car, I wondered if Brian might club me or slip a black tied bag over my head to ensure I wouldnt be able to identify the location of these river tiles and share with others. He didn't, and I swear I don't really know where this place is...HAHAHA

Hadnt taken a photo of a Shag in 10 years! :O No idea why, they are quite common here.

Looking through my landscape shots to have a play with hdr this weekend I found this panorama I hadnt processed. I did do a HDR version but found just plain old photographic looked much better....I am sure another panorama in HDR will happen soon :0)

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!

I was slicing up some fruit, i hadnt shot my 365 for the day...hmmm might as well combine activities :D

eating is about life and death. in this case, mostly death. lol

happy tuesday everyone! =)

Haven't been out for a while so was looking through the archives. Found this old shot that I hadnt done anything with and possibly was a reason why. I had already previously shown shots from this location before so I decided to go for some HDR drama. Not everyones cup of tea of course but its a change for me and you know what they say about change!!

"Lets go to those woods on Dartmoor tomorrow" my mate Dave said over the phone Saturday evening. The weather reports were suggesting high winds, rain and no fog so my first thought was "is he smoking something?' However, I agreed as secretly I did fancy a trip back down to Dartmoor as hadnt been since last November.

"I will pick you up at 4am"....yup he was definitely smoking something!

So, the alarm wailed at 3.30am and with much grumbling i dragged myself out fo bed and staggered downstairs, gear in hand and grabbed a swift coffee before heading down to the car park. Bang on 4 Dave showed up and we grunted at each other to signify we were awake but not happy about it!

The drive down was uneventful and two hours later we were in the woods.

It turned out to be a session full of surprises, new compositions, accidents (i'm okay!) and, I think, some pretty decent images including one which is probably my favourite of the year so far.

I found this composition quite early and took a variety of shots of it, settling on this one in editing. This image typifies these woods, full of gnarly oaks and great big rocks. You almost expect an Orc or an Elf to come crashing out of the undergrowth at some point.

The images I will be posting in the coming weeks will feautre green and lots of it, with a splash of orange hopefully!.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

this is a large panorama taken up on moss force looking down into the newlands valley below. my computer had to be left on while i went to work yesterday afternoon because it was a nightmare to stitch together.i came in from work and thank god the computer hadnt died.its not the best quality but for me it was more of an experiment.

A Trio of Class 325 Royal Mail EMUs head north over Dutton Viaduct on 20th July 2017 working 1S96 Willesden - Shieldmuir. At first I thought I hadnt got the whole train in view but on looking back realised I actually did!

Photo taken on a pole at 5 metres elevation

was just browsing some old pics and found some I hadnt uploaded.

Looking for somewhere different that I hadnt been before and Shaw Wood at Wingfield drew me in. However, when I arrived it was covered in fog. Just lifting enough to capture this 6M57 06.48 Lindsey to Kingsbury diverted working, 70808 was in charge. 8/9/2023

I decided to do a reworking of a photo that I'd uploaded a few weeks ago. Mainly because even though it's definetly one of my favourites I don't think I did it justice when tonemapping or editing. There were a couple of details that I hadnt noticed at all and they are very hard to see unless you look at the large version. (even then they're very small)

Firstly there is a bird off to the far right but even further away on the left there is a helicopter which I hadnt even noticed the first time which shows how little effort I'd put into post processing.

I'm now much happier with this version. This one if most definetly better viewed on a large black background.

-Added to theCream of the Crop pool as my personal favorite.

I took this one earlier this week at the old Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

I didn´t really expect good results, as the afternoon was very cloudy, but i went there anyway, as i hadnt shot at the location before...

Just on the boundary between golden and blue hour the sky got a bit colour and i quite like the result....

1.3.19 1st Day of Autumn here in Australia , sunrise shooting at Pearl Beach NSW Central Coast Australia . i wanted to try to get some motion with the water today, this was 3 x shots blended from using AEB on the Autel Evo drone . had my shutter down to 1/5 second and no filters, it was still quite dim as the sun hadnt fully risen yet. Looking back I wish I had moved back just a tad to get that rock in the foreground in the pic, oh well we learn from our mistakes.

The building was later occupied by a Payless Drug Store which until the late 1990's hadnt made and major renovation to the facade of the building. (Unfortunately I didnt get a photograph) The building is currently occupied by a Rite Aid which has not put any effort into both the inside and outside of the store.

Dawson Falls in Egmont national park

Shot with a Canon New Zealand 5Ds and 11-24mm f4L lens. More on this epic combo later in the post.

Not long back from another great One of A Kind Adventure, this time around the North Island hutting up some spectacular spots.

One of those locations is the majestic Dawson Falls in Mt Egmont National Park. Its an easy walk in but we had heavy rain for the whole time we shot the falls, making it difficult to get the shot I wanted but a lot of lens wiping and shooting got me exactly what I was aiming for.

We had that much heavy rain and spray/mist from the falls I used a panoramic technique to shoot 3 frames for this, overlay them and then blend out the water drops.

I love the ultra wide perspective the 11-24 gives for this, its about 20% overlap in total so the final image is 11,000 pixels wide. So much detail and resolution from the combo with the 50mp 5ds!

The 5Ds and 11-24 have to go back to Canon asap and I will be really sorry to see them returned!

The 5Ds has impressed me more than I thought it would. I've used a 5dmk3 several times and knew the autofocus was sweet but hadnt really shot one for a long time.

Got to say compared to the 6d its chunky and solid, I've always loved the ergonomics of the 5d series and its so simple to configure and use.

But what makes it special? Settings wise its got an awesome built in Mirror lockup mode that you can set to always happen, you can pick from 1/8th of a second up to however long you want. This gets you very stable shake free images. I usually shoot in live view mode so MLU isnt needed but often its easier to compose in the viewfinder so this is a real benefit.

And at last it has a bulb mode timer. You can dial in any exposure time you like whilst in bulb mode, no need for a remote release!

Also has a built in intervalvometer which I am interested in (usually use moco devices to control) but not had a chance to use yet.

But really you buy this bad boy for the files. 50 megapixels of data. Raws are up to about 90meg and so long as the idiot behind the viewfinder has done their job well enough there is so much detail in the images its incredible. Compared to my 6d's 20mp you can keep zooming in almost endlessly it feels.

The files at base ISO are surprisingly clean too, I didnt get a chance to shoot astro with it which is a shame, wont be quite as good as a 6d but I'm sure it would be usable.

I know all the reviews will say it lacks dynamic range compared to some other cameras , I'm sure it does, but I've not found many situations where a couple of stops extra has made so much difference, without having to blend or use filters. It does have clean shadows you can push a respectable 2-3 stops which is usually all I need.

All that and 5fps with the 5d's stunning autofocus system, its nice having more than 1 usable point!

So overall I am very impressed with this absolute beast of a camera, though for me I would pick the 5Dsr for the extra detail without the aliasing filter (needed for fashion, architecture etc) . Nature doesnt have many repeating patterns that the AA filter helps with.

So the other half of the combo.. The canon 11-24mm f4 L lens. This is the widest zoom lens you can get your hands on. Its apolitically wide. So wide , especially in portrait orientation the first thing you notice is your feet.

Framing things with this lens at 11mm is a challenge. And that is for someone who shoots wide all the time. In the right place, like this falls, its astounding. I have a few other shots that will show you were it works also but take it from me, it needs to get really INTO a scene and almost on top of your foreground to make the most of it.

Focus is interesting, for landscapes on the scale the 1M mark is right next to the infinity mark. Which means you can be very cavalier with focus as hyperfocal is almost always the case. The outlier here is when things are right at the MFD and you might need to focus stack.

Resolution is astounding though as is build quality. It makes use of all of those 50 megapixels of the 5ds. Contrast and colour really pop have to say I love this lens! The downside for me is filters, I love using filters and this would need LEE Filters 150mm system or the NiSi Filters 180mm systems which are huge. Though it does take rear mounted gel/wratten filters if you just want long exposures.

I confess it is not my own design .. somewhere on flickr there is one very very similar though I think a daisy cutter was used for the flowers (please shout up who-ever you are so I can give proper credit!!)

Even so credit has to go to the mighty Rouvelee www.flickr.com/photos/rouvelee/2844210433/, and also the front cover of last months 'Wedding cakes a design source' magazine!!

I have fallen out with my sugar shaper gun so tried rolling these stems with my cake smoothing tool, just like Rouvelee does... except she is much much better at it - and the ribbon roses! ... than I am!!

STOP PRESS!! - AGAIN! - THANKS - TO SWEET SWEET! ..... THIS IS THE ONE I HAD SEEN! - LOOK i EVEN PUT A COMMENT ON IT!! - I KNEW i HADNT DREMPT IT!!!! - SORRY I COULDNT GIVE YOU CREDIT EARLIER!!!

I went for a stroll over beachy head last week to get some fresh air and came across this viewpoint which I hadnt seen before. I seem to be grabbing my GH5 more than the A7R2 at the moment due its filming abilities and also the lens sizes are so much smaller yet resolving very high quality results still. The Sony will always have its place especially for its low light beastness, but for me less is more when it comes down to carrying kit around.

I tend to use minimal filters as well. I am not a fan of Grad filters but do love the big stopper and Variable ND. For this I used the Variable ND and dialled in enough density to give a softer feel to the water.

shoot thru bottom of tumbler with lime in water

shot by not turning upside down but held up and shot from underneath against light from cabin window - to catch this awesome reflection thru the bottom of a single slice of lime in water - if you didnt know youd swear it was two slices.

and then theres the pun i hadnt thought of: this being actually a drink from which expression bottoms up originates - double entendre,eh?

thoughts?

I've been trying to get a picture of a bee on this for ages. So often the ones I am familiar with have flowers that are a bit too high. These ones in Dundee were all at head height or lower. Made for an enjoyable 10 minutes with the camera! Such a beautiful heady scent too - i hadnt realised that before!

Headed off to Cuckmere Valley this morning as I hadnt been here for a while and noticed a fence has been put up surrounding the Valley. Not sure how long this has been there but fortunately it doesnt spoil the view,

Was a lovely morning, and a nice layering of mist lingering about. This is also a test shot for the high resolution sensor shift technology put into the EM5 mk2. Works incredibly well

Forgotten all about these images i took when i picked my daughter up form nursery just before christmas. But then, i hadnt used the A700 since then.

Former London Routemaster RM504 heads along Croftfoot Drive on its journey back into St Enoch in 1987.

Parc des Chanteraines Villeneuve-la-Garenne

Thanks to Wayne for the help to ID of this bird : maybe a Sparrowhawk

I was doing photos of gulls fishing in a parc (parc des Chanteraines) near Paris (France) when suddenly I saw all the gulls flying away and only 2 courageous gulls decided to rush on a ... hawk ! Why? maybe because on a little isle on the lake they were few juveniles not able to fly.

Sorry weather was really bad (it was raining) so the sky is really overcast and sooo white. This is a medium crop of the original photo because I was far from the hawk.

So why did I select this photo : not for the sky nor the IQ but because it's the second times in few weeks that I can see an Hawk in or near Paris, and I could see a third (in Montesson) but I hadnt my camera. So as Aron said, a lot of hawks are now living near or in big city, really surprising.
