We went to Durham,I hadnt being there for about ten year. I took thse Bridges over the river Wear.

As I was exploring the Yellowstone, I took a detour from Madison to get to the firehole falls. It is located at around 6miles from the confluence of the Firehole and Gibbon rivers. The falls has a drop of about 40 feet which makes it quite a beauty. The water is also silt laden hence making for a different color. The cascade is located on the Firehole Canyon Drive, a one-way road that parallels the main Madison Junction to the famed Old Faithful road.

The setting was really gorgeous...it was late in the evening when I got here and all I could hear was the sound of the gushing cascade. There was not a soul in the vicinity. I had actually used the ND 10 stop and metered this shot manually as it was getting darker and I wanted to expose for longer to capture a bit more light on the rocks and the vegetation.

This is from my archives of Montana and Wyoming. I did a lot of travel back then and hadnt looked through most of my shots. But I am intrigued that it sorta comes back when I first view em again. Funny how the brain works...

Happy weekend and Thanks for viewing everyone!

Taken on a very cold and frosty morning in Dec 2016 on a camera I borrowed that hadnt had a roll of film put through it since about 1990. It didnt matter. The camera carried on where it left off, being understated and awesome to work with.

Another shot from 2018 which i hadn't processed.

The city "Zhongshan" has been named under the national hero Sun Yat Sen who was born here.

The city is filled with tributes to the legendary politician, and this was taken during the lantern festival at Sun Wen Park.

I dont remember the last time I hadnt uploaded a B&W for this long.

Saw this guy at the Riparian Preserve in Gilbert, Arizona, USA. I hadnt seen one of these before.

An old photo i found on disc but hadnt time to play with her

I met this young Duudle one around Christmas 2005 sitting on a park bench on a bright cold afternoon. He told me he had ran away from his abusive creators so my wife and I offered him a meal and a bed for the night. 3 weeks later he was still in our apartment, and still hadnt told us his name, when we had some wine one night, and he got drunk for the very first time.

And after hours of telling anecdotes, laughing and crying together, he finally revealed the name he was so embarrashed about ... "Earl". Gotta admit somehow I was a bit disappointed.

Just looking back on some from the other week which i hadnt processed, quite liked this one

Hadnt shot with the dslr for a long time. I forgot how sharp that 35mm is!

Empire state building in the early morning light framed by a tree

a shot II have had in mind for weeks and until last friday hadnt found a spot to capture it, but got into the city early and strooled around and caught this shot which I actually really like whiich is unusual for me :)

....oh...and....yes. This here is this "someone" !!! ;-)

Met her on my "very last day in SL". Was a friday the 12. January 2006. "Last day" because i sweared myself a day before...i will stop in SL...because its such a boring place. Found nothing of interest here. World was dull....grafics a joke (before i was playing really good 3d games)...and then most people not even fun enough to waste more time here. Then some minutes before i wanted to quit.....i met "someone" at a freebee warehouse. Funny....she was the first german-speaking woman. Maybe that made the difference... Lol...no, who will i spoof...she was the nicest girl on earth. At least on this second earth.

Then things changed fast. Actually she hadnt to much time because she had to do some work later. To tell you the end of the story faster......she didnt worked that day. No....after we met at noontime......we were together until late night....oh..to be exact...until 3 or 4 o Clock in the morning.

So yes....that was a "funny" day. Now...i started to understand, what could be so interesting in Second Life.

ok..the rest ist history....lol....at least my personal history.

She was my GF for many months. Then.....as it is in RL...things got complicated (the bad thing was..that we hadnt the same time frames in SL). But to tell the truth...she is a good friend of mine until today. We talk together nearly every week. So SL is giving you really new friends for life.

I am sure..everyone of you, had an similiar story....as it all begun. I love to hear all this stories.....and this here was a part of mine. :-)

I had to go back to August for this!

A fly on a rocket flower ........and spot the pesky aphids too! i hadnt noticed these on first look.

I quite like rocket flowers as a garnish or salad ingredient. So not totally happy with sharing them with little friends.

Happy Fly Day Friday!

long stories shortened... (discarded and abandoned and intertwined short stories) well..actually they are chunks and fragmets and notes of stories that never made it

a young PhD math candidate writing his dissertation on an obscure arab mathematician from the middle ages who specialized in cycles and periods in infinite series and develops a process to determine prime number density in a large number space. (which is all and good) except this makes it an excellent tool to decrypting military grade encryption, which is based on the computational difficulty of factoring large numbers into their prime components

the arab mathematician was ultimately censured by the religious mullahs for developing tools to rationalize the infinite, which is of course the nature of Allah and for man to attempt to place Allah into a human scale is blasphemy

so the arab mathematician disappears and the young phd candidate finds that his dissertation has been suspended pending review but cant get any information on who is reviewing it

finally another young mathematician approaches him and starts a long discussion on math and the nature of numbers and the mathematicians love of the underlying structure of reality that math represents. the phd candidate is leary of this mathematician cause he wont answer what he does or where he went to school or how he knows so many cutting edge fields in math

eventually, the young mathematician offers the phd candidate a position with the NSA, National Security Agency, (where all the big crypto and high math goes on) but explains that if he accepts that he will essentially disappear from his current world. his work will be classified, he will not be able to publish in academic journals or speak in public, or talk about his work to his friends on the outside, but the compensation is that he

would be able to work unfettered with the greatest math minds in the country, totally funded, free to explore any field or fancy he thought. after a few moments of thought, the phd accepts.

then the story will go back to the arab mathematician who is also approached my a young beared mullah, who offers him a position within his group of thinkers who do ponder and explore the nature of nature reality and Allah through mathematics, but that by joining them he would need to disappear from the world, after a few minutes of thought, he too accepts...

Daniel sipped his 6th coffee (colloidal suspension for caffeine transport) while his batch jobs on ramanet, the Indian supergrid, finished their checksum verification. His chin, a bit stubbly, itched. His eyes, a bit red, were sore. The goa trance shoutcast feed had mushed into a fast cadence drone. The flat screen monitor warped and bulged with the oscillating fan blowing on Daniel's face

'O' glamorous larval life of a PhD student...' he jotted and doodle-circled on his notepad.

Daniel cracked his neck and jutted his jaw, stretching out the accumulation of kinks, as RamaNet finished the final integrity check on his dataset. this two hour round of processing on the Indian supergrid would cost about $130 out of his precious grant fund, but you couldnt beat the bargain. 120 minutes times 150,000 PCs in the RamaNet processing collective = 1,080,000,000 seconds or 18,000,000 minutes or 300,000 hours or 12500 days or 34.25 years of processing time for the price of a video game. Calculation was commoditized now. You uploaded your pre-fromatted dataset to RamaNet. the data was packeted and sent to out to 150,000 Indians who lent a few percents of never-to-be missed CPU cycles off their systems for background processing. when their alotted package was completed it was sent back to RamaNet for re-assembly into something coherent for the buyer. in return the Indians got a rebate on their net access charges or access to premier bollywood galleries or credit towards their own processing charges. a good deal all the way around. Daniel's dataset, an anthology of complex proofs from a long-dead arab mathematician, was queued with amateur weather forecast modeling, home-brewed digital CGI for indie movies, chaos theory-based currency trading algorithms, etc. the really high end, confidential jobs, like protein folding analysis or big pharm drug trials were more likely handled by the huge western collectives of several million collaborative systems, usually high-performance machines in dedicated corporate server farms. the cost there was out of Daniel's range, but you got a faster return and better promises of encryption for your buck.

Daniel scratched his scalp and flexed his fingers. 'two months from today i will be a doctor of mathematics...and no job. damnit. i need to find something fast.' Daniel calculated in his mind how quickly the student loans repayments would kick in and completely wipe him out. RamaNet would have done it in nanoseconds, ha! he laughed to himself. Daniel had avoided the rounds of job interviews and recommendations that passed his way. he was too absorbed in his research to look ahead, and perhaps a bit intimidated by the idea of the job hunt flea market. flexing his CV, getting a monkey suit, trying to explain his research to recruiters, who were often the same finger-counting business majors in college that made his skin crawl. Daniel always felt a bit embarrassed when he announced he was math PhD candidate. folks would immediately glaze over,

tsk tsk out a 'that's interesting', and swiftly change the subject. something will come up, he mantra'd to himself over and over, something will come up. stick with ali, there is something real in there, just a bit deeper. the real problem was his thesis advisor. dr. fuentes was not returning his calls, his secretary was not taking appointments from Daniel. he had submitted his finished draft of his thesis two weeks ago, but hadnt heard back since, except for a cryptic email saying that the review committee was having some issues with his paper and that Daniel would be hearing from him shortly. Daniel was rerunning his calculations on RamaNet to assuage the gnawing doubt that he completely botched some component of his argument and that the review committee was debating some manner of telling him to redo the entire effort. no PhD and no job. that would ice the cake. Daniel started calculating his body mass and general aerodynamic resistance relative to the height of the school cathedral to figure out if he had time to reach a terminal velocity before impact...only a failed math PhD would attempt to determine at what speed his body would smack concrete, he morbidly thought to himself.

ali ja'far muhammed ibn abdullah al-farisi slipped meditatively on his cup of water, thinking about his proof. he dipped a finger in the cup and held up a droplet of water under his fingertip, watching the sunlight prisimatically splay out on the mouth of the cup. 'praise be Allah and his wonderous bounty' he mumured to himself.

the elders had been in conference all day over his proof. though the heavy doors to their chamber were closed, he would occasionally hear muffled but distinctly angry shouts. ali sat on a divan in the anteroom, served numerous cups of tea by an obviously nervous secretary. ali knew there was deep resistance to his research, but for the life of him he couldnt figure out why. he was a simple mathematician. he came up with some unique observations. he wanted to share them with his peers...

Overview: biotech researcher discovers a new life-extension technology and is murdered. He is cryogenically frozen for 150 years. When he is

revived he must stop a dark corporate conspiracy – and find his murderer.

Summer 2015 - Hot genius free-lance biotech researcher unravels the key component of a radical life-extension gene therapy that will ensure 300 years of robust life to its recipients. The researcher is murdered shortly after he hides the critical component. His distraught friend has him cryogenically frozen. 150 years later, the researcher is revived by the same major bio-med corporation for which he had originally been working.

Quickly he realizes that their motives are less than altruistic: his modification of the gene therapy is needed to resolve an unforeseen debilitation now creeping up in the recipients of the life-extension process. The recipients, now nearing 125 years off added life, are decompensating into psychotics. The researcher at first tries to remember and reconstruct what he did with the hidden critical component, but stops in disgust when he learns that in the past 150 years the life-extension therapy has been reserved solely for the ultra-affluent and has created an extreme and cruel global gerontocratic elite. He voices his disgust to his corporate minders, who cease being beneficent and show their true colors as trying to gain control of this critical technology in order to control the elites.

In the process of dealing with the corporation, he learns about his murder and begins investigating. As he comes closer to the identity of his murderer, he uncovers a wider conspiracy and is the target of more murder attempts.

He was killed by a friend in 2015. The friend was the CEO of a small bio-gen firm that the researcher was doing the LET work for. The CEO, a biz-head with a genetics academic background, took the researcher’s work and exploited it as his own, in the process growing his small firm into a bio-med powerhouse and him into one of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

The CEO also was the first recipient of the LET and is now 190 years old, but doesn’t look a day over 45. Smart, urbane, ruthless, the CEO used his wealth and position to start the cabal of Ultras. It is a faction of the top 50 smartest and wealthiest people in the world who have ‘ascended from the world’ (faked their demise) and control the global economy with their vast coordinated wealth. Perhaps they will call themselves ‘The Ascended’. We need to decide how the cabal lives. Are they sequestered on a luxurious island compound, or do they live in the open, surgically re-sculpted after each faked death, or do they live in the open.

Also we need to figure out what the world will look and feel like in 150 years.

As the ultras decompensate into psychosis, the CEO orders the researcher to be revived in order to find a cure. The CEO had the researcher’s lab notes decrypted and figured that the he was close if not successful in finding the missing component to stabilize the LET.

Tiberius Syndrome: the decline into cruel psychosis experienced by the ultras, named after the roman emperor Tiberius’ degenerate behavior after he sequestered himself on Capri.

The ironic twist might be that there is no cure, no stabilization. The psychosis is not the result of the LET alone, but also due in part to the unfettered ego/wills of the ultras. Absolute power corrupts…

a brazilian hacking syndicate was subcontracted by a st petersberg crew to run interference on a hit on SWIFT, the global currency clearinghouse notification network. The UniFavela clan was going to run a multi-flank raid. They specialized in fast propagating virii and had created a custom mail-in virus that exploited a few microsoft vulnerabilities that they had discovered and kept mum. Their target was a Latin American PR spokesman listed on the corporate web site for press queries. The PR flak would be just the sleepy guard on the wall for their virus to slip past. 30 minutes after opening an inocuous spoofed email from a French e-trade publication requesting clarification on the SWIFT-Indentrus partnership. the virus would port scan and map its entire site LAN, salmoning its way up the router paths till it found the deep waters of the main corporate campus network in Brussels. Shortly, the internal LAN at Brussels would be suffering switch and router buffer overflows and traffic would gasp, ack, and sputter. UniFavela would then towel whip out a vanilla DDOS on the main company web site, any INTERNIC-registered addresses, and any other system in the IP block reserved for SWIFT that had previously port scanned as interesting, or ,even, as nothing. Mongols charging the village gates and tossing flaming torches on thatched roofs. IT Operations would be running to and fro, trying to figure out the internal bandwidth crunch and if there was a bleedout causing the external net problems.

The Post-Human Story of Minos:

the CEO of a powerful commercial combine is bore an illegitimate son by his indiscreet wife in retaliation for his own dalliances. the son has a hideous deformity but is fantastically brilliant - brilliant enough for the father overcome his own repulsion of the child - as a bastard and a freak. the father sequesters the child in an elaborate virtual domain. the child, a hacker savant, is used to breach competitor nets. but as his power in the digital realm expands, the child transforms into the tyrant-monster. using the nets, he lashes out at people who have caused him pain, then evolves into enjoying the taste of terror and fear. He becomes the Minotaur.

'there was a mad scramble amongst all the big spook governments, dark side corporations, and the privacy maccabees once it was determined that quantum computation had left the tidal pool of academia, grown legs and air-breathing lungs, and was headed for the nat sec intel highlands. all previous encryption models were rendered obsolete, and worse, exposed. QC became an undefiable xray spotlight, laying bare any encrypted secret with a ease of opening a mathematical candy wrapper. And for a while it swung the advantage back to the state in the digital Boer War against the freecon partisans.'

The Oort, to the Intras, looked as one people. Extra-stellar hillbillies, ekeing out a subsistance existence on extracted organics from the frozen crud comets and other planetesimals of the Oort Cloud that slung around the solar system in a 1K AU circuit. To the Oort there was no Oort. Each station, each kampong was distinct and seperate. Seperate dialects, traditions, norms, goals. Some were scientific collectives, some were tired mining operations, some were intense sectarian cults - they shared little between themselves beyond necessary trade links for scarce commodities.

A young prince is disgraced in an internal court scandal and sent into a quasi-exile on a worthless mission. On his travels he builds the wisdom and learns the skills necessary to be a just and effective leader.

His exile was a gambit by his patriarch to remove Genji from the arena of pointless court intrigues and develop him as a real leader. The patriarch dispatched a team of loyal praetorians to discreetly follow and protect Genji on his odyssey.

Genji was sent as an emissary to the Oort system. He must pass through the Martian-Saturnine corridor, populated with industrial trading guilds and their private militias.

Genealogy becomes paramount in a closed culture; hierarchy by heredity. Reference the roman patrician class’ death-grip obsession with lineage, or the medieval Japanese imperial court’s strict intra-elite caste system.

But in an era of extreme genetic engineering, how can bloodlines retain their importance? Perhaps this is the wrong question. Perhaps in an era of extreme genetic engineering, authentic bloodlines can only retain their importance. The longevity of an unchanged gene line demonstrates success in evolutionary competition. Over time however, the fitness of a rigidly enforced and ‘sequestered’ gene line will degrade. Consider the hemophilia of the European royal strata.

I would not want the imperial court of the inner system to be pure blue bloods, eschewing genetic manipulation. Rather I would have them take the opposite tack – and embrace genetic engineering in the pursuit of perfecting particular socially valued or distinctive attributes; a roman nose, elongated refined fingers, even the possession of certain ‘noble’ afflictions (for ex., the aforementioned hemophilia as a sign of noble lineage).

The elites should pursue genealogy with the same passion and gusto as horse breeders; studs and mares and percentages of bloodlines, enforced and suppressed gene expressions, surrogates, and gene modes des saisons.

a bum finds a the wallet and keys of a man who jumped from a bridge

he goes to his townhouse to find something to eat or steal

is impressed and overwhelmed with the man's townhouse

showers, eats, gets cleaned up, finds some clothes

is ready to leave when he helps a woman wrestling with groceries at her door

she thanks him, but looks stunned.

‘are you the man in #560? umm..i have lived here for 3 years and have never actually seen you. you seem to leave so early in the morning and get

home so late and keep to yourself.’

they spend 30 minutes talking, having a generally warm friendly encounter.

‘well, I am so glad to have finally met you. Hope to see you soon.’ As she closes her door, the bum turns to leave but pauses and thinks for a moment, then goes back into the man's townhouse

he pours through the man's papers and keepsakes and learns that the man has no family that he speaks with, no friends, lives off a well-endowed trust fund

and

the bum moves in and takes over the mans identity

he brings warmth and sincerity to the man's identity

what makes a hermit tick? what lengths do they go to to remove themselves from society? does it become a game to avoid contact, trying to become a shadow, a phantom? does society dissolve away as a mental force in their thoughts, atrophy away or does it become an amputated impression?

what divsion line stands between a hermit and convict in solitary? the hermit, by and large, chooses their isolation, the convict has it enforced upon them. at what point does the human need for society or socialization collapse? is there anything left that we can inspect and evaluate? a hermit, however, is able to maintain walls against the Great Other, which would imply that they are seeking refuge from the world. a schizo or an autistic will be physically surrounded by others but unable or incapable of making contact.

when does the will to contact die? what is left over? do humans require contact to retain our humanity? can you love and sacrifice in a vacuum?

what defines humanity? oooh, a big question...

genetic engineering will continue to deconstruct the human species

there will be catastrophic disasters: gene sequence specific viruses engineered to attack 'types' of people. Der Genkampf

petroleum will be replaced- hydrogen-powered locomotion and green power (in the wealthy states). the poor states will continue to be held hostage to oil politics

(cultures and civilizations do not move forward uneringly. they spasticly jerk forward and fro, in clumps andgrains, never ever as a lemming death drive.)

developed economies will be netized. a new state structure will be needed to manage and dsitribute resources. the corporate structure, the commercial backbone of the capitalist democracy, will replace the republic. it is flexible to markets and political forces, insistent on accountability, it provides a sufficient compromise between individual representation and republican government. they will begin their political evolution as projects in community development. assurances of an educated workforce by charter education. assurances of uninterrupted utilities by running their own power/water etc. net-based marketplaces create corporate agoras. employees are in fact de facto citizens of the corporation. citizenship, or regular employment, will be a reward for merit, stock shares will count towards suffrage.

great corporate collectives will arise. housing, education, security...all the needs of the middle class will be absorbed in the corporate state. the tradtional state will cede roles and responsibilities to the corporate state as their resources dwindle. a few isolated violent reactions (military or legal)by the republics against the corporate states, but they will fail over time. against, or more so, in conjunction with the homogenized corporatsists wil be the diasporae, non-corporates will glom to other modes of networked alignment, ethnic allegiance will become stronger over time - as the chinese, indian, and jewish disporaestrengthen as a formula for a successful competition against/with the corporates.

the american state, succored by its overwhelming techo-military supremancy, loses its mission, its vision - substitutes will to dominate for will to excel - and falls into the deep narcotic, insulated slumber of the unassailable. GE, nano, and the banknote net weaken the mythic cohesion of the american spirit. we are no longer united by common experience (mass-mediated or otherwise) the promise of science to make us stronger, smarter, near immortal is held like a manifest destiny or a divine IOU for services rendered to humanity.

TRIX by POLO2 & CRANE, i must of only just started writing CRANE after writing DAM for a while, POLO2 hadnt become URGE yet, couldnt of been long after this though................

Funny, if my name wasnt on this i wouldnt have any problem at all thinking this was just by URGE, only have a vague memory of this one, can only think i helped out with fills or URGE just let me put my name on the wall.........haha

Good times Mr URGE!

Gotta thank Buddz909 for this one, much appreciated mate...............

Not sure where this one was done, buddz has got it down as Plaistow, looks like it could be in the rugby field at West Ham / Plaistow, any help?

Usually I upload my images into Lightroom and work from there deleting the ones that are down right rude and I wonder what I was thinking at the time. ANYWAY! I then format the card in camera and start afresh, however I looked through the raw file and noticed this cheeky little image that hadnt imported, why I dont know so it doesnt make #pickthebestfromtheworse as I quite like it.

I lost this shot when my computer crashed..luckily my buddy still had it on hers and emailed it. The only picture I hadnt recovered that was really important to me...yah!

Went to Sicily for a wedding, and of course i couldnt help paying a vist to the nature reserve of Vendicari. A bit out of season i know, to see the real action i have to go back in December, but it wasnt all that bad... there were a few birds i hadnt seen before. like the Spoonbill and the Hoopoe.

The only thing is that they were so freaking far away, so i was on max zoom (with the extender as well) so some footage are a bit shakey because of that.

I am still short of flies & its Friday.

But I knew from previous years that some bluebottles always overwinter inside the rim of a skylight upstairs. So I went up and opened it and a couple fell out,

Took this one down and into the light. for a photoshoot.

I had every intention of releasing it into the back of a log store but it flew onto the windowsill and, to my surprise, out popped a big spider from under the broadband hub and grabbed it. I hadnt even noticed the spider before.

Fly Day Friday.

some visits, you dont see this beauty all day..this time, this is the first shot of the day..hadnt even entered the zoo entrance as this enclosure is linked to the restaurant..

A perfect spring day and a class 69 in the area was enough to tempt me out of Devon and into the depths of Cornwall for the day.

Even though the sun hadnt crept around to the right position i still decided to have a go at this shot overlooking Cooks Kitchen Tin Mine near South Crofty in Camborne.

69003 arrived pretty much bang on time working the 0Z81 1000 Plymouth to Penzance.

The last time i was at this at this spot was in June 2018 to photograph the Mazey Day Class 50 Railtour with 50007 and 50049. On this occasion i decided on the tight crop befitting a light engine working.

i had planned on going to buttermere this morning as i hadnt been in quite some time but a last minute change of plan as i could see that there was fog building up in the keswick area. so i said goodbye to buttermere and ended up spending a few hours around derwent water instead. not a bad trade i reckon.

catbells. lake district uk.

a familiar path to most but one i hadnt done myself until i took catbells on in the rain this morning at 4 oclock for sunrise.

the summit was far to wild to take any shots and sunrise didnt happen but managed to get this one of a sheep who is taking in the scenery like i was.

Todays challenge for the daily shoot was Pavement comes in many flavors. Asphalt. Concrete. Bricks. Stones. Make a photo of some pavement you see today.

As was Walking to the PATH train after work today I chanced upon Library Way or Walk, which is a portion of 41st street between Madison and 5th Ave, and took a shot of two or three of the plaques set into the pavement there, not sure how well known they are to the average tourist or NY'r but I hadnt noticed them or paid any attention to them until a year or so go when more observant because of photography

Will post another shot of a different plaque in the morning

this is several strawberries falling into a pot of cream .

i must admit I hadnt expected so much of the cream to jump out of the pot so after a few attempts i had very little cream left and had to substitute a bit of milk in .

Happy Macro Monday everyone

"Speed Junkies" was a sailing group with the purpose to sail as fast as possible in the same environment.

Group has 25 cruises which were further modified by direction of wind.

As a reminder of these times I have started to sail one cruise after another.

If I remember it right, ladies were finishing whole race in about 40 mins with the difference of a few seconds amongst them.

My yesterday's try resulted in 52 mins, but I hadnt done any preparation and I havent been using racers much recently.

Up Where We Belong

Joe Cocker

Some hang on to used to be

Live their lives looking behind

All we have is here and now

All our lives, out there to find

The road is long

There are mountains in our way

But we climb a step every day

Love lift us up where we belong

Where the eagles cry

On a mountain high

Love lift us up where we belong

Far from the world we know

Where the clear winds blow

Time goes by

No time to cry

Life's you and I

Alive today

Went into the city centre this morning to shoot the Jacaranda Trees at the harbour. Met a few mates in there I hadnt seen in quite a while, which was a great and welcome surprise.

We all got what we went in for (to be posted later), and then myself and my mate Paul went for a stroll through the newly revamped streets of Sydney.

We got to this building, and as I was showing Paul this composition, I thought..."While in Rome..."

So, out came the camera, on with the 10-20 wide angle lens, and down on the ground I went, lying on my back, to get this.

Taken lying on my back, at 12mm, handheld, no filters. There is a curved mirrored edge wrapped around the base of the stairs, which gives a fantastic warped reflection of the surrounding buildings here. Thanks to my mate Dex for showing me this comp a few years back at the Vivid festival.

Today, it was my turn to pay it back, and show someone else (while I grabbed a quick pic myself).

Anyhow, hope you like "Up Where We belong"

Cheers, Mike

It hadnt stopped raining for days when i got this 2 minute window that opened up at the gap of Dunloe, just as the mountains meet (MacGillycuddy's Reeks (west) and Purple Mountain)is a narrow road with just enough room for one car leading into the Black Valley

.....Now the wind it is blowing

Blowing leaves from the trees

I've got no use knowing

That with time it'll ease

I don't know where I'm going

Hope I get there soon

Cos my soul is hollow

As the sorrowful moon.....

David Gray - Gathering Dust (1993)

I might have missed this beautiful Timepiece if I hadnt looked up high on the gable wall of a Watchmaker's shop in the town of Williamstad, on the Caribbean island of Curacao.

This unusual timepiece dates back to the 18th. Century and is still in working order. The Bells ring on the hour.

I liked the shadows thrown by the strong sunshine.

View On Black

Paula was clearing out an old cabinet and found this - i hadnt seen it in 15 years or more. It was a present she got me from Mr Woods Fossils in Edinburgh many years ago. Great to see it again - I just had to get the camera and take a picture.

The fish is about 4cm long.

The label had disappeared but I think this is a Dastilbe from the Cretaceous period & is about 120 million years old.

For many years I have loved watching and photographing Peregrine falcons. Theres just something about them that captures me. On this particular morning the 3 juveniles hadnt long fledged and this one flew and landed quite close to me. Im sure you will agree they are such striking beautiful raptors.

Many thanks as always for anyone who takes the time to look, like and comment on my pictures it is very much appreciated.

Was spectacularly misty in the valley we were in in the Peak District on Sunday morning. I only had a couple of hours and as hadnt been before I ended up driving around blindly in the fog hoping to find some compositions

After being in the bird feeder for a while (not just on it) our friendly mouse still hadnt had enough and came for some dropped seeds.

[10:14] Basira Ihnen stares in abject horror at the mountain of flesh protruding from the doorway of the store, "Wh-..." she started to say, but she stopped to gawk more until her attention drifted to the two others in the street, "What the fuck is that?"

[10:17] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) grunts and squeals a bit, wriggling about, trying to get free. He huffs, groaning a little as he struggled to turn and look over his shoulder at whoever was watching, frowning at them. "Hmpf..."

[10:18] River Grau is staring more in amusement than anything. He glances over his shoulder to the woman. "That's piggy. He's sorta like the village idiot, but much fatter." He smirks at Toby, "Hey, need help with that?" His hand slowly reaches for his knife at his belt. "Can cut yah free."

[10:22] Basira Ihnen grimaces as she looks from River to Toby, "Gonna just let him in there? Today is shitty enough without me getting fired again, and I know I'll get fired if this piggy goes rampaging around in there."

[10:24] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) grunts and looks away, grumbling as he squirms about, rattling the doors as he does, and began to hit them, whining "No! My dun need no help! *snorts* Just go 'way n stop lookins!" *squeals*

[10:25] River Grau shrugs at the woman, "Uh, if he can walk after I cut him free.. it ain't my problem. I just want some bacon and haven't been able to get ahold of fresh meat. Tired of eatin' the synthetic stuff." He grins darkly as he approaches Toby, the knife glinting in the light of the lamps. "Just a little cut.."

[10:27] Basira Ihnen seems to deeply consider the situation, or at least the mention of non-synthetic bacon, "Yeah buh...human grade chimera meat..." she mutters almost to herself as though trying to convince herself it was a bad thing, "Just don't damage the doors or anythin'."

[10:28] Basira Ihnen: [Yeah but*]

[10:28] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) growls and squeals angrily, looking over his shoulders again, beginning to stomp his hooves "Chu dont come near my wiff dat! No lil cut!" He pouts, whining.

[10:29] Kyria Naimarc grimaces as she watches the horrific scene before her. The man holding the knife must clearly be a mental case. And Toby was oh-so familiar to her. She decided just to watch.

[10:31] River Grau crouches down before leaping at Toby's back like a feline pouncing it's prey. An arm tries to wrap around the pigs neck as he slices at a side of fat stuck in the doorway with the knife wielding hang. "Bacon!"

[10:32] River Grau: (hand*)

[10:34] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) squeals and squirms about, wincing as the blade cut into his fat flesh, and began to flail about, attempting to lash out at River with his fists, but he was too fat to reach behind him properly "STOP DAT!!"

[10:36] Kyria Naimarc hardly has the stomach to watch, so she flips down the aviators onto her nose making the scene much darker through her eyes. "Ugh.." Since the man who was cutting flesh from Toby clearly was insane, she opened up the holdster of her handgun, just in case. Leaning herself against the building to keep her back free.

[10:40] River Grau holds onto Toby's back as he rides him like a wild bull. His head tilts back and the redhead cackles, which probably doesn't help anyone think he is more sane. "Ride 'em, cowboy! Oink." He kicks a leg at Toby's back while he pulls his knife down deeper to dig into the flesh and possibly take a nice sized chunk of fat and skin off of the side of the pig's belly. "Just one mor side to go."

[10:43] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) keeps squealing as he squirmed and wriggled about, a slice of flesh dropping to the ground with a wet slap, followed by the dripping of blood. He whines, trying to throw River off of him "N-nooo s-stop it!"

[10:46] Kyria Naimarc simply couldn't leave, she was frozen into place at the shocking scene. Her fingertips tapping at the hilt of her gun while she watched quietly through her dark shades.

[10:50] River Grau nearly falls off as Toby shoves at him. The arm with the knife moving to grip around the other side of Toby's neck. "Hey, now. We gotta get your other side done so you can get out and I can make dinner." As long as Toby didn't move too much, he brings his knife to the other side of the round pig, ready to slice again. He doesn't even notice the woman watching them.

[10:53] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) growls and squeals, beginning to slip free already, but only a little. He snarls and thrashes about, trying to throw River off "NO! OFF! MY AM NOT DINNER!" He whines, wincing as the door was now digging into the wound on his side.

[10:54] Kyria Naimarc was not about to do anything either, she simply stood by as a witness.

[10:56] River Grau 's looses balance and his remaining arm slips off of Toby's neck. "Fucker." He curses out as he hits the ground. Trying to stay away from Toby's legs, he slashes the knife out on the still-stuck side of Toby. "C'mon, future-bacon. Calm down."

[10:59] Toby(Kyris Upshaw) squealed and slowly began to pull himself free, breaking the door a little in the process. As he stumbles forward, he topples over, landing on his massive stomach, groaning a little as one side of him had a big chunk missing, and the other had a nasty looking gash, where the knife hadnt quite cut the flesh all the way off. "O-ooww..."

[11:02] Kyria Naimarc: ((Skip me!))

[11:03] River Grau quickly grabs the pieces of pig hybrid and back off in fear of Toby's retation. "There, all free!" He holds the bloody, poorly cut meat in his arms and bloodies up his shirt as he backs away. "You're welcome, by the way! Now you can walk through doors for another week. Don't be afraid to call if you get too fat and need someone to help you out again." He was preforming a /service/ here for the other person, obviously.

[11:06] Kyria Naimarc was almost gagging in disgust, seeing the pieces of flesh that the man was carrying before her. Even if she felt sorry for Toby, she was a legionaire and her major would probably shoot her if she was seen helping a hybrid.

[1:00] Raven Juno: [1:00] Raven Juno crawled up to the edge of the building, sniper rifle strapped to her back as she took a wiff at the air.. ah.. yeah there was someone down there... she moved to pull her goggles down over her eyes, now able to see she scanned the area seeing the same male she had shot previously. smirking softly at her little prey. she moved to take the rifle off her back getting positioned. moving to look through the scope she aimed for the camera on the uac bunker that seemed to point in her general direction, pulling the trigger once, she shot the camera out as the shot echoed in the air, reverbing off the buildings around. "shit!" she grunted as that was her last shot, and she had no amo on her. spinning the gun back onto her back and peering over the edge. grunting at herself. if she had hof just shot the target instead of taking percautions shed likely of killed him... now all shes done was fucking alert him of danger. panicing slightly she scanned the rooftop still staying low on her tummy, though likely seen.

[1:03] Laurick Scarbridge: [1:02] Laurick Scarbridge was obviously going to respond, but the shot ringing out had completely changed his attention for the moment. He raised the rifle up and looked up and around, rather quickly his sight went to the AGOG scope, "Sniper! Sniper on one of the Eastern roofs behind the bunker!" With that, he started to scope out the area.

[1:10] Raven Juno grunted ears picking up his words from up here "shit!" she got up and ran back, clearly not the smartest idea to STAND UP when people have spotted you. idiot child. but she was fast, she booked it to the far end of the roof and stopped crouching a moment to figure shit out. if she went through the park shed have to walk right past the front of the bunker to get home. theyd see the rifle on her back and catch her. if she went round south through the ruins shed have a better chance. but would be dodging uac as he had likely sent people up this wat to investigate by now. the kid started to panic. she hadnt had her big strong gaurdian here to escort her out this time.

[1:11] Laurick Scarbridge had been scanning the roof-tops, since the sound had reverberated too strongly to come from a window. The red headed man caught only a brief glimpse of the girl when she had stood up. He opened fire almost immediately when he saw it, a short burst - but not likely anything that would hit her .. more like whizz past her and scare the shit out of her. When he saw her start to move, he lowered his rifle slightly looked up and started to move.

[1:17] Raven Juno pased a moment before taking the rifle off her back. she first off woundt want anything to happen to it. and secondly started to forsee being in shit. she peered over the edge towars the park and threw it quickly hoping no one had noticed. watching it hit the ground just inside the fence she whipped her phone out and sent a text message. she knew even if she called for help no one would come. and would only get hurt if she did so she simply told one person about the rifle. putting her phone in her pocket again she sighed softly and put her goggles back on her head simply smelling and hearing to see which way they were coming from

[1:19] Laurick Scarbridge was the only one coming. The others were currently either off-duty, or were in the bunker in meetings. It didn't matter. He may have been injured, but he wasn't. He clammored up the large stairwell with an decent agility, proving to be quick for his body structure. He made his way to the top of the stairwell and raised the rifle up first, then continued his search down on the floor below the roof..

[1:25] Raven Juno 's ears flicked as she heard him coming. she had no idea how good the humans ears were so she crouched down onto her stomach and crawled to the edge of the roof putting her hands on the edge and silently lowering herself over to hand. she had planned to simply drop to the stairs and get away undetected... shit. it was such a far drop. she knew she could make it okay but unsure if she could do it silently. she had no chouice now, she lt go dropping to the platform below. she made a soft thud on the ground though it was far from silent. she swiftly got up and dusted herself off hoping he didnt come back out onto the pathway.

[1:28] Laurick Scarbridge's hearing wasn't so bad as to hear something from his left and behind. He was a marine in a battle situation, and despite the fact that he was probably legally insane, he knew how to protect his own life. The man turned back, around on his haunches and turned the rifle on the child's bad, possibly before or after Raven had dropped down, "You came from above, that you did. And I'm going to purport that you're the one that shot at me, though I don't know if you shot me before. Either way, you should stick your hands up, test tube baby, and start marching. Unless you'd like me to shoot out your knee cap, and then kick you in the side of the head into unconsciousness. But, that's your choice! Kwa hoo hoo hoo!"

[1:33] Raven Juno flinched . she eyed the park in the distance. it was so friggin close. why did he have to be behind her! she froze for a moment then sighed slowly lifting her hands and haning her head. she had no weapon or anything to hide so she figured maybe she might get away somehow... not likely she simply remaind silent as the last time she started screaming for help she had a boot stuffed in her mouth with force. she figured the only thing of intrest on her was her phone

[1:34] Laurick Scarbridge just moved forward as he lowered the rifle to the back of her and pushed at her, "You should move, that you should. You're a suspect in a poorly chosen area at the moment, and if I find the rifle from the direction which you arrived, you'll be more! Which means I can do so much more! Kwa hoo hoo hoo! Oh, my. Either way. Move," the red head said, and pushed at the back of her head with the barrel again.

[1:37] Raven Juno grunted as her head was being pushed. she simply listened and started walking in whatever direction this crazy guy was wanting her to dog. though she hoped at if all possible it wasnt near the park. growling softly as him "ya know... im just a kid... came up here ta play... jax.. or something" stupid kid she didnt know what to say she simply moved and agreed not wanting a bullet in the back of her friggin head

[1:40] Laurick Scarbridge still holding the rifle to the back of the pup's head, he said nothing in response to her words. When they arrived at the gate, he leaned to his left and put in the access code. The chain-link fence began to roll on it's berrings and then opened up fully. The soldier would push her forward, and then do the same once they had gotten to the first door ... then the next, until they were in the prison.

[1:43] Raven Juno simply walked as she was told to eyeing all the doors and narrow winding hallways. it was a friggin maze in the place. inhailing as she moved getting scents of the place. finaly being pushed toward a room with what appeard to be a jail cell she grunted and pulled to a stop infront of it

[1:43] Laurick Scarbridge placed his boot on her lower waist when they walked into the brig, and push kicked her toward the opening of the fence. He knew how quickly it would open and shut. He walked over to the panel still looking at her with the rifle trained on her back, and type in the code to open it. "Get in," he commanded.

[1:45] Raven Juno gruned moving in and leaning on the back wall crossing her arms angrily as the cell closed. her eyes fixated on the male with hatred but remaind silent for the most part she eyed the small room. nothing to be used as a weapon.. nothing naywhere.. the cage would be hard to bust appart and just leads to a huge door shed never get open. she was doomed.

[1:47] Laurick Scarbridge raised his left hand up and wiggled his fingers at her, "I need to go investigate the scene of your obvious crime, and in the mean time, you can stew here! Kwa hoo hoo hoo! Oh. That's what's for dinner tonight, I do believe. Well, maybe I'll just forget to feed you. I'm not sure yet. We'll see. That we will. See you, Little Snipe. Look at this way, you were already dead when you fired, and before that, you just expediated the painful process and don't have to go through life wondering when it will happen! Because it's going to happen soon! Kwa hoo hoo hoo!"

[1:49] Raven Juno snarled angrily as she slid on the wall to sit on the floor watching him she had so many rude sarcastic comebacks . such a will to jump ion the fence an scream and claw and freak out at him. but she simply dug her claws into her legs to contain herself before growling out "youl find nothing. and when i DO get out of here.. and i will get outta here... " she smirked evily lowering her head "your dead"

[1:50] Laurick Scarbridge responded, "We're all already dead, I'm just putting you all in place before I off myself! Silly thing!" he laughed afterward, "Kwa hoo hoo hoo," and put in the code for the door as he headed into the hallway to go search the roofs.

[1:52] Raven Juno sighed and moved to lay onn the ground tracing a finger on the concreate as she had nothing to do but wait. fighting this would only get her killed. watching him leave she huffed and smirked softly . she hadnt heard his boots march off yet but shen she did she was aware that she still had her phone on her.

Seriously view this large. worth it.

Before and After on my Facebook page!! :D

First time in a while (or ever?) that i've used lyrics purley because I couldn't think of a title. Just experimenting here- I wanted to see if I could take the original picture, then unfocus everything and add in the unfocused picture after as a background. I think it worked- I just wish I hadnt unfocused it quite so much. But oh well. As I said- experimentation. But I like it anyhow.

How have you all been? I feel like I've abandonned my second world a little bit these past few weeks. I miss y'all<3

A final few hours to kill before getting the last flight back to Aberdeen and I headed to a damp St Ninian Isle. TBH I hadnt been expecting much from Shetland , mainly due to my misconception that its landscapes were bleak, treeless, windswept moors - how wrong was I! As I made my way to the Isle a report came on the radio to ay Shetland had been voted the 6th best location to visit by lonely planet! After last night trip to The Lang Ayre and today's trip to St Ninians, I can see why - what a stunning landscape and definitely somewhere I I'll visit again (with more time!)

just a lovey mushroom i found, so nice to find one that hadnt been kicked over yet!

what a fab year its been for fungi!

My friend created this dish from scratch, I would not have believed it if I hadnt seen it with my own two eyes...the base was a block of dessert cheese, the rest was chocolate and mint...and she surrounded it with fresh strawberries....yummy!!

"_______ ......................." And You Just Turn And Nod Your Head In His Direction. "What Happened To You..... You've.. Changed................ So Much. I Dont Even Know Who You Are Anymore. And It Hurt Me, That You Wont Talk To Me For A Year" Then, The Bell Had Rung Ending Class. You Were Happy And Rushed Out The Door. But Before That Could Happen, Matt Had Grabbed Your Arm. "Why?" And You just looked At Him With Your Now Blank Green Eyes. Staring Into His Now Cold Icy Blue Eyes. The Happy Feeling They Had Was Replaced With Angry, Pure Angry. And All You Could Do Was Look Down At His Hand Holding Your Arm. Then You Shook Your Arm And He Let Go And Watch You Walk Away. But The One Question You Had Wondered Was Why? And From That Moment On, You Knew Nothing Would EVER Be The Same. During Math The Next Day, Matt Wasnt There. You Wondered Where He Had Went. The Next Day............. He Was Still Gone, BUT You FINALLY Decided To Stop By His House And See If He Was There. You Took A Deep Breath And Knocked. The Door Opened But You Saw No One Behind It. You Slowly Walked In And There You Saw Him, Just Laying There On His Bed. You Ran As Fast As Your Feet Could Take You to The Bed He Was Lying In There. You Saw His Eyes Open. They Looked Red, And You Had Finally Found The Courage To Ask "Why..........?" "Because.... _______ , I Love You, But All You Did Was Push me Away I Never Had The Chance To Tell You. Everytime I Tried To tell You, Something Came Up. And When I Found Out Why You Hadnt Talked To Me In A Year, It Hurt Me To Know. That I Had Tried To Move On, But I Just Couldnt. I THOUGHT I HAD LOST YOU FOREVER!" Your Mouth Wont Move, It Was Like You Had A Lump In Your Throat. Your Mouth Felt Pain When You Could Finally Move Your Lips To Form Words. "...... Im........................... I.................................Umm....

My Mum used to take me to Halifax as a child (1970s). There was a toyshop called (I Think) Heywoods in the Market. One day in the window was this bus painted in Metro colours. This is in the days when the ONLY bus you could buy was a Red Routemaster - the choice being Corgi or Dinky (I preferred Dinky!). So, Heywoods had in the window a bus in Metro Colours. It was like an angel had shown me something wonderful and I wanted it badly. The shop told me that they only had a small number to sell. Okay so it was still a Routemaster and they were only in London and whoever painted it hadnt matched the Verona Green or Buttermilk livery correctly- but this was a green and cream Metro Bus and the only non red toy bus I had seen. The price was High - I seem to remember around £20 - which nowadays I would think be about £60/70 at least! I badgered Mum until she (saved hard and) got me one for my Birthday. The bus shown here isnt the original its my own version. It was seeing this bus in that toyshop window that made me realise that even though the only buses you could buy were red - it didnt have to be that way - and that realisation by a small boy was the start of a Bus Hobby/Fascination/Interest that I still do today and get immense pleasure from. I owe my bus modelling to that repainted Routemaster sold at a v high price in a local toyshop - and I now have this repainted Routemaster I did for myself to remind me of that bus. I will treasure it.

Went to the coast to catch the prseid meteor shower. Saw a few (you can see some in the shot, but actually the startrail conditions were pretty good. Would have been even better if some joker hadnt walked over the bridge with a torch....
