how can one go through so much i don’t understand. but at the same time i realize that we have no right to complain because we have no right to any of the things we were given, not even our own lives. we don’t think of how easily it can slip away. God, be merciful.

it's hard to remember that all we have can be taken away because it was given to us in the first place. i wish my family didn't have to suffer this much and that i could be with them and for once love them right at this time. but God, i know You're faithful. You're always working towards something bigger than ourselves.

.....make too many friends.

In my quest to make "things happen" I think nothing of trying to do what is depicted in the above image and "I'm pretty good at...." achieving it. What a coincidence as that happens to be the theme for this week's Me Again Monday group!! Yeah, I know, a pretty lame attempt at humour!!

On the more serious side, when working on the delivery of a "project", my pedantic trait does often upset people along the way but, if I do say so myself, the ultimate outcomes more often than not, please many more.

For anyone who has ever tried to find out their personality type, you will be unsurprised to learn that I am an ESTJ.......mostly. For those interested to check out their type here's one site to do it for free: www.16personalities.com/

HMAM to all in the group.

Once the runway paint had dried, the bare surfaces beyond the curbs received attention.

The grass is model railroad stuff, scattered unevenly into a wet bed of brown acrylic paint, some white glue and water, plus some small bits of foamed material for model railroad trees - the only way to create an uneven and more natural simualtion of a grass field.

The curbs were painted, too, with a wet-in-wet mix of acrylic grey and white, creating a streaky, uneven surface.

It's hard to describe how much and in such a positive way this day affected my life. The pilot of this Aerospatiale AS355F TwinStar was Cliff Gaston, pictured. Cliff flew Hueys in Vietnam. I knew nothing about aviation when I was offered a short ride in this helicopter.

I was only moderately impressed with the thought of a helicopter ride as I climbed in. When Cliff moved the first yellow engine control lever to START everything changed. I’d never felt/heard/experienced anything like that before, the helicopter “came alive” as I sat there. It was truly amazing.

The experience so profoundly affected me that by the end of the next year I had begged and borrowed to get my pilots license, which changed the course of my life. It would be another decade and a half before I had the chance to fly in a helicopter again.

I know it looks cruel but ... thats how you feel sometimes ...

This image may turn out to be my personal favorite from the trip.

This woman lay sleeping on a bench in the park behind The Notre Dame Cathedral. Clearly homeless, she lay there midday, while certainly hundreds of people walk around her, comment, some even laugh.

While she, in no way, can be classified as "beautiful" in normal societal terms, I found her intriguing and "beautiful" in the most artistic way.

What does she dream? Does she have goals? Does she want to rise from her plight? Or, in her eyes, is it a "plight" at all?

"Why" does she live? What is it all for? Is she sustained by the natural survivor instinct or does she sustain herself on the memories of a prior time?

As she lay there, I chose to capture a moment. She breathed out, I gently pressed the shutter on my Canon 5D once, adjusted the image, zoomed in a bit more and then captured this. She did not even stir.

She just laid there...beautiful in her own unique and artistic way.

Tarn Hows is a circular walk around a small tarn, not far to the West of the Northern end of Lake Windermere.

The path is wheelchair-friendly (although just a tad steep in a few places?) and makes for easy walking whilst soaking in the wonderful scenery. Not sure whether it's cycle-free but we didn't see any. Well worth taking half a day to explore.

Here are a couple of shots of reflections in the tarn, taken with the Canon Powershot SX50 HS.

This presentation is based on a forthcoming IMF Working Paper that will be published in October 2017. Most studies measure economic success by studying convergence in income– i.e., GDP per capita. By that measure, Asian countries, led by China and other dynamic economies, have been successful in bridging gaps in per capita incomes in recent decades. But it is well known that GDP per capita does not fully capture economic welfare (Tobin and Nordhaus, 1972). This study updates Jones and Klenow (2016) who use a micro-founded index of economic welfare—which includes consumption, leisure, life expectancy, and inequality—to look at economic progress in a broad sample of countries between 2007 and 2014. The results demonstrate that welfare grew more quickly than income for most countries over the period. However, for some populous middle-income Asian countries in which GDP per capita grew very quickly, welfare lagged. We then add environmental factors to the index, including greenhouse gas emissions and a measure of sustainability, to illustrate how important the use of the natural environment is for welfare in certain countries.

How Hill lies on the River Ant and is a large parkland walk area by the river within the Broads National Park. The riverside is dominated by the Turf Fen windmill, built originally in 1875 to drain the nearby marshes into the river.
