"Earl of Pembroke" is a wooden barque, currently used for charity fund raising, corporate entertaining and film work.
She was built in Pukavik, Sweden as "Orion" in 1945 and used to haul timber in the Baltic Sea until 1974, when she was laid up in Thisted, Denmark. Square Sail Shipyard and Robin Davies purchased her in 1979 and began restoration in 1985. As part of the restoration, the rig was changed from the original schooner to her current barque rig, and she was renamed the "Earl of Pembroke", the original name of HMS "Endeavour", which she now resembles. The "Earl of Pembroke" is now owned by Metaco LLP.
"Earl of Pembroke" has been used in the following films and TV series:
Hornblower Series III
Treasure Island
A Respectable Trade
Moll Flanders
Beaumarchais, l'Insolent
Mary Reilly
Cutthroat Island
Shipwrecked
Frenchman's Creek
Shaka Zulu
Longitude
Wives and Daughters
Count of Monte Crisco

Just shows I won't get up close and personal with any old road. I'd been waiting for the dawn to start and light up the Vatican when I turned round and tried this.

Exposure blend (5 images) done with LR/Enfuse plugin. This is a great plug-in worth looking at.
Extra processing done in PS CC, Topaz Clarity and Detail. Maybe a little over the top but I like it :)

Defender, at anchor in Fowey
Former Omani Navy fast patrol vessel 'AL MAJIHAD' built in 1977 by Brooke Marine at Lowestoft.
Interestingly she was modernised and re-armed at Fullbridge with the intention of being deployed off East Africa as a private business venture to deter Somali pirates. According to her new owner Royal Navy Lieutenant Chris Enmarsh "She will be manned by handpicked ex-Royal Marine Commandos and run as a professional naval ship, obeying the rules of engagement. Our primary task will be to protect oil platforms which are towed close to the coast of East Africa, and a number of oil companies want to hire Defender to look after their interests. We are not mercenaries; this is strictly a business venture similar to other British private protection firms which operate in Iraq and Afghanistan. She has already had a 40mm cannon on her fore deck and a 20mm cannon will be installed on her aft deck, with two machine guns on each side, giving 360 degree coverage. Her twin engines have also been replaced while berthed at Fullbridge, but the major work will be done when she returns to Falmouth in the next few weeks after initial trials in the Blackwater."

The Grimsby Docks.
My "Get Pushed" challenge in Round 6 is to leave soft and pretty behind and to look for something gritty and grungy and harsh. I only had one afternoon to get out and find something, so I went to the old Grimsby Docks and started my search.
I found many abandoned buildings, and even an old corroded boat, (see below) but, although they were grungy they were also quite rustic and lovely. So I kept looking and finally came across a derelict fish processing plant.
My specific challenge from the lovely Yzzilyzzid is this:
"Your photos in general have quite a lush, dreamy feel - even when photographing harder objects - ....
I'd like to push you to get a little gritty. Perhaps a grungy street scene, or maybe just some harsh post-processing - ......You can be as literal or as figurative as you like with the subject matter, but in the end, let us see that you've left the soft and pretty for another day"
I hope this meets the challenge. (Please observe the grit and grunge on the floor and I did add a little harshness in processing.)
A note about Grimsby Docks.
The docks in Grimsby were once thriving fishing docks. But now, while the Grimsby Fish Market is still one of the largest and busiest in the UK, much of the fish is caught elsewhere and bought into the market. So now the fishing fleet docks and all the fine old buildings are deteriorating. Nonetheless, even though I have chosen to photograph some of the most derelict places there, the whole area has charm and history and I loved being there. There are still many active fish processing plants and factories, but there are also many abandoned and decaying ones too.
Hidden in the trees above the Elafos and Elafina hotels at Profitis Ilias is this abandoned villa. Built as a holiday villa in the 1930s for the then Italian Governor of Rhodes, Cesare Maria De Vecchi, it was abandoned in the 1940s but then renovated in the 1950s by KIng Pavlos. It was later abandoned once more and is now a shadow of its former glory.
