Magic was made one time I visited Disney's California Adventure. Carsland had just opened and for some reason I was possessed to get food at the Cozy Cone. Cone 4 had a thing called Red's Apple Freeze. It sounded like something I had to try. When I did, I fell in love and wondered why there wasn't a longer line for this magical drink. Here I am in Walt Disney World and a friend of mine got a LeFou's Brew and asked if I wanted to try it. I took one look at it and almost dropped. I had been over to Gaston's Tavern before taking pictures but no one had told me that this was CONE 4!!! The same drink is here in all its glory. I get one now almost every time I go to the Magic Kingdom.

Happy 5 Years DCP Fall '09!
Five years ago today, I started something that I thought would just look great on a resume and possibly launch me into a career in creating websites for movies and help companies promote them. I had no idea I would fall in love with a company and a service model that I literally could not live without. I had no idea that I could create such life-long friendships with people from all over the country who I love dearly and still contact fairly regularly (thank you Facebook).

Michigan Central Station is one of the most iconic structures in Detroit. It is in a very sad state of disrepair and its future remains uncertain. Recently, there has been some renewed interest in renovating this structure - but the unfortunate politics of Detroit and the realities of the costs involved may prove too much to overcome. At the very least the building's owner Manuel Moroun has promised to put a new roof and windows on the place.
Some interesting facts about this building include:
- Built in 1913 at a cost of $15 million USD
- Appears in several films such as Transformers (2006)
- Prominent role in Eminem's music videos, espcially "8-Mile" and "Beutiful".
- The building is of the Beaux-Arts Classical style of architecture, designed by the Warren & Wetmore and Reed and Stem firms who also designed New York City's Grand Central Terminal.
- It's about 500,000 square feet
- The main waiting room on the main floor was modeled after an ancient Roman bathhouse with walls of marble and vaulted ceilings
If you ever get the chance, be sure to stop by and visit this site before it's gone or changed forever. Other than AMTRAK's failed attempt to renovate the ticketing area in the mid-70's; MCS has been virtually neglected since 1956. It's been vacant sine the late 80's.

Which attractions will you wait over 50 minutes for?
The attraction that has the longest line ever in all of Disney's Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Midway Mania. Which icon is your favorite?
When I get to each park, there is a central icon that draws the attention. For Magic Kingdom, it's the Castle. For Hollywood Studios, it's the Hat. For Animal Kingdom, it's the Tree. But for EPCOT, it's the "Golf Ball"! I'm not sure which is my favorite, but I can say easily it's not the Hat in Hollywood Studios. A friend of mine wanted to get a small group, sit in the corner and play a game called Fiasco. It would have been a great time, but she decided that her Disney career was done early. I miss her. What Resort Is Your Favorite?
The first resort I went to after I moved here was the majestic Grand Floridian. I had to see how it compared to my favorite Grand Californian which I frequented while living there in Anaheim and even after. This resort is a stark contrast to that of the Californian. The Floridian is overly posh. I love the white and pristine feel to it. This one feels like a place that those elite of the 1930's would come for a vacation after making their millions. Much like how the Californian places you in an over-sized cabin with cozy fireplace, the Floridian sets you up for a day at the beach or relaxing to the sounds of the piano player play classical pieces for a full immersive experience.
I wish to spend more time in each of the many resorts here on Disney Property. They all have their own personality. The question is, which one next? So far I have been impressed by the theming and the atmosphere. I'll be sure to post what I get from each one. It get's hard to pick a picture of the day from so many pictures taken. For the record I have enough for a couple of months now, but I don't like to place things too close together. As is, you fans of the Hollywood Studios are probably very mad at me right now that I haven't got anything for you yet. YET! Coming soon.

What brings you to the Boardwalk?
It was like a night like any other and the air was warm and thick from the humid day. The sounds of flip flops and heals on wood could still be heard over the laughter and fireworks in the far distance. Then it hit like a freight train. A smell of freshly baked goods wafted in from my right. There was no stopping my head from turning toward the warmly lit building. Quaint apartments sat above the Boardwalk Bakery that housed this addicting smell. I entered in and there saw a lovely sight. What do you recommend to eat here?
I used my own advice the other day while walking around Animal Kingdom. Go in a restaurant before they open and get some great shots of it empty. Sure enough at around 10:00 am the park was getting packed with people, but the Yak-n-Yeti was completely empty. They didn't open for another hour. This place has such an amazing interior. I'm not sure where I would want to sit while eating here, but I can tell you it's most likely upstairs...

Where in the parks would you go to eat breakfast?
Continuing from yesterday's post on breakfast, I thought I'd post this fun shot of France. Back in the back, there is a little cafe. The smells that come from this area are heavenly. This shot was taken without a tripod on one of my first days here in Walt Disney World. I got into EPCOT about 30 minutes before the park opened and started getting shots of places. Being the first time in EPCOT I went straight for the World Showcase and realized that not all of it opened with the park. So while waiting for it to open, I went to the parts that were open to take a couple of shots. One of the places that is open is France. Here I came upon a woman eating her breakfast and going over paperwork. This transported me directly back to the two years I spend in Switzerland over 10 years ago. I missed the smells and the people. No matter the size of the city, breakfast in Europe always has a quaint little town village.

This building is across from Roosevelt Park is called the Michigan Central Station. As you can see it's in a terrible state of disrepair. the building's owner, Manuel Moroun has announced plans to put a new roof and windows on the building in order to prevent further damage and perhaps entice a tenant to the area. The fencing is a sure sign that work is about to begin.
The two large towers that are part of the building were originally meant to be a hotel and/ or office space. Today, they are just vacant (to say the least).

This photo was taken in Decorah, IA. I like the original just as well, but the HDR brings out some of the sky. This is a "home built" or experimental airplane. I don't know if the owner built it himself or had it made, but it was absolutely beautiful. The lines on this plane were so modern and elegant. The wood prop was just amazing. I really was digging the red carbon fiber spinner as well.

One of the most impressive, and saddest structures in the city is located in Corktown near Roosevelt Park. It's the Michigan Central Train Station. Built in 1913 it lies abandoned to time and the elements. Hopefully recent talks to restore the site continue to move forward.
This is a closeup shot of the front facade. The architecture is known as Beaux Arts style. This building was designed by the same person who made Grand Central Station in New York City. When MCS was built, it was as nice or even nicer than New York's. Today, the two buildings really illustrate the differences that time and poor decisions can make in a buildings future.

Once again I was kicked out of the Magic Kingdom. Security was tight after the park had been extended an hour. I didn't want the extension. It meant that I would be leaving the park later than expected and that most people wouldn't be as nice as they usually are at the end of the night for photographers with tripods.
