The Colosseum or Coliseum , also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre , is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of concrete and sand, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built. The Colosseum is situated just east of the Roman Forum. Construction began under the emperor Vespasian in 72 AD, and was completed in 80 AD under his successor and heir Titus. Further modifications were made during the reign of Domitian (81–96). These three emperors are known as the Flavian dynasty, and the amphitheatre was named in Latin for its association with their family name (Flavius).
The Colosseum could hold, it is estimated, between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators, having an average audience of some 65,000; it was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry, and a Christian shrine.

St. Anne's Church (Polish: Kościół św. Anny) is a church in the historic center of Warsaw, Poland, adjacent to the Castle Square, at Krakowskie Przedmieście 68. It is one of Poland's most notable churches with a Neoclassical facade. The church ranks among Warsaw's oldest buildings. Over time, it has seen many reconstructions, resulting in its present-day appearance, unchanged since 1788. Currently it is the main church parish of the academic community in Warsaw.

The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, or simply St. Peter's Basilica (Latin: Basilica Sancti Petri; Italian: Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano), is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City, the papal enclave within the city of Rome.
Designed principally by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter's is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and one of the largest churches in the world. While it is neither the mother church of the Catholic Church nor the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, St. Peter's is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic shrines. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world" and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".
Catholic tradition holds that the Basilica is the burial site of St. Peter, one of Christ's Apostles and also the first Pope; supposedly, St. Peter's tomb is directly below the high altar of the Basilica. For this reason, many Popes have been interred at St. Peter's since the Early Christian period. There has been a church on this site since the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. Construction of the present basilica, replacing the Old St. Peter's Basilica of the 4th century AD, began on 18 April 1506 and was completed on 18 November 1626.

A bit of hdr processing of a city scene. I like the way it enhances the reflections on the buildings and the clouds.
Original in comments.

Which Resort do you like to stay at?
I am finally making my rounds to the resorts at Walt Disney World. Most people think the parks are the only thing to see when they come to visit here, but that's not true at all. Almost more detail has been given to the resorts you stay in than to the attractions in any of the parks. For example the Fort Wilderness Lodge here. This section in the back of the lobby area is patterned after the areas found in...

What restaurant is a must experience?
Whenever I take the "Which Disney Character Are You?" tests, I always end up as Lumiere, the fun-loving entertainer and all around service-oriented guy. It's true I love to serve and fun is a driving force in my life. If it's not fun, I'm not interested. The song "Be Our Guest" is almost my anthem. I love to make people feel welcome and I will do practically anything for someone else. If there is a person in need...

Taken with an Olympus XZ-1 on a minipod, with a cable release. Edited in Google Photos Android App and Photo Editor [play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iudesk.android....]. I brightened the vanishing point a little, and applied a light tone mapping to bring out the architecture. I also corrected the verticals in Photo Editor, which has a good perspective correction function.
What do you love the most about Cinderella Castle?
The other morning I walked into the Magic Kingdom before guests were allowed to enter the gates and stood behind the castle waiting for the sun to rise. It was an amazing feeling to be standing here in the quiet of the morning. I set up my tripod and actually sat there for almost an hour waiting for the sun to climb high enough to touch the spires. I actually opted for this shot of pre-sunrise because of the colors . I love how the...

In my attempt to make Disney World Glow, I give you this... Rockin' Rollercoaster Glowing! I love this ride. Especially since this is the only ride in all of Walt Disney World that will send you upside down. "I like that idea!" I'm all for the exciting and adventurous rides. I do like me some classic dark rides, but when I need to get some thrill on, Hollywood Studios houses two of the best. I'm getting to love that park more and more. I am sad to see so many things go away before we get the new things like.... blog.digitalelegance.com/glowing-rockin-guitar/
