Oceanside has 3 miles of coastline and is famous for international surfing competitions, kayaking, sailing, outrigger races, and lazy days at the beach.
The Oceanside Pier area is the heart of the community. It is open 24 hours a day for fishing. Many types of fish can be caught there including perch, halibut, stingrays and even sand sharks. Refurbished in 1987, the pier extends about a quarter of a mile into the water. It is the longest wooden pier on the western United States coastline at 1,954 feet.

I looked at this beautyfull landscape every morning when i went to the kitchen. Too bad it was only for the holidays.
Mine is the sunlight,
Mine is the morning,
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise ev'ry morning,
God's recreation of the new day.

August has been going by so quickly for me - my day job continues to be busy, and the Great Salt Lake continues to be covered with smoke from massive fires burning in California and Oregon.
This shot is from July before the wildfire smoke - my heart goes out to all those who are have been impacted by those fires.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.

This youngster has been flying around my hill with his mum, for the past few weeks. They call to each other as, I assume, she is showing him how to hunt.
Here, he was sitting on a telegraph post, continually calling for his mum, who was very conspicuous in her absence. Maybe she had gone hunting by herself - or maybe she thought the time had come to loosen the apron strings and let junior get on with it by himself. Such a sad, sad sight. He was was still there, hours later, as I was returning home.
Poor wee soul!

“If I wait for cloudy skies
You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
You'll never know that I still love you so
Though the heartaches remain
I'll do my crying in the rain.”

A few Money Plants came up. Not much flowers anymore, so enjoying the small, but pretty purple show.

One of the challenges of getting older is that our parents get older too. Both of my parents are facing some pretty tough health issues at the moment. So I will be taking a few months off Flickr so I can fly home and spend some quality time with both and help out where I can.
See you all then!!
