Macro Monday
Theme: Handle with Care
A tiny little horse's head made out of tiny little pearl buttons, stitched by hand onto the jacket of the Pearly Prince of Highgate. I can see a few have already fallen off.
"Hmm everyone"
Fuse box... always freaks me out when I have to screw with replacing these albeit extremely rare but still, I always "handle with care". HMM
This is an old iodine bottle I found a while ago and kept because I thought it would make an interesting photography subject. This week's theme is an ideal time to use it!
HMM!
Someone posted a picture of one of these on Facebook last week. She mentioned they were small, no taller than 1-2". The next day while walking out to the garden I stopped and took a closer look at some white spots on a dirt spot in the yard and sure enough there it was. But mine are only a couple mm big. I took a picture of a few with my macro lens on my phone. The next day I went back with my DSLR and all the ones I had shot had deflated. So, I knew, they need to be handled with care, I had pulled grass out around them and put a lens tube around them. Oops, but maybe it would have happened anyway.
From Wikipedia:
Ricin is a highly toxic, naturally occurring lectin (a carbohydrate-binding protein) produced in the seeds of the castor oil plant, Ricinus communis. A dose of purified ricin powder the size of a few grains of table salt can kill an adult human. The median lethal dose (LD50) of ricin is around 22 micrograms per kilogram of body weight if the exposure is from injection or inhalation (1.78 milligram for an average adult).

I think that a warning sign from a bottle of one of my film developers speaks eloquently to today's topic. HMM

Shot for Macro Mondays challenge "Handle With Care".
Over 25 years ago my wife and her friend did a night school course in cake decorating and sugar craft. My wife was really good at making the flowers etc and we have had some in storage since then. And from April 2012 to just two weeks ago they were stored amongst our other household stuff in a 20' container.
Obviously Handle with Care!
The next image shows the boquet in full, the pic here is from the lower centre right.

Our dreams all rely upon the collective appreciation and respect of others' dreams. What may seem like magic to you may very well be a punch in the gut to someone else working hard, living consciously and trying to make a go in life. Your magic crystals may be someone else's broken dreams. Don't be too selfish to see what impact you're having on the world.

Compare to Single or Double-Edge Razors, these cartridge type razors are smooth and safe, but you still need to handle them with care to avoid nicks.

This has been around for thousands of years. It can cut, chop and mince. But, be careful of the sharp blade and the point at the end of the blade
Dad and I had fun doing this one. First drink the ginger beer, second - smash the bottle and of course third take the shot!
For this week’s Handle With Care theme I chose to photograph some of the ingredients I use in cooking, some of which certainly need care in the handling process!
I have got a little lazy of late and usually utilise Pataks Vindaloo Curry Paste, probably about half a jar, along with chillies, chilli powder and some of the other ingredients you see here, such as cardamom pods, cinnamon bark and turmeric. It is all sat upon a nan bread.
I have become renowned amongst family and friends for my curries, they are spicy and hot, but tasteful too, and with many a request, I suppose they can’t be all bad. However, many have also said they need to be handled and eaten with care!
Happy Macro Mondays everyone. :-)
For Macro Monday. A very dangerous instrument: quicksilver is highly toxic, body temperature 39.7 ° C as well. For this shot I put this thermometer in hot water. We all are healthy.
I tried the new McDonald's Pumpkin Spice Latte and it was good and hot. Have you noticed all the Pumpkin Spice products? I even heard there is a Pumpkin Spice bubble bath. I don't think I would want to smell like pumpkin.
Macro Monday's theme "Handle with Care".
Happy Macro Monday!
Thank you for the views, faves and very encouraging comments!
My wife has given her consent to my using this image of one of her Rheumatoid Arthritis treatments for this week's 'Handle With Care' theme.
Technical: this image started out as a focus stack of 15 images of the syringe on a mirror with a black background taken at f/10.0 (now that I know the sweet spot after last week's brilliant challenge!) and processed in Helicon Focus. The resulting image was then transferred to Photoshop for extensive dust-spot removal (on the mirror, not my sensor!). Back in Lightroom I applied sharpening to the whole image and a graduated filter to tone down the reflection. Finally, a radial 4-stop filter ensured the surrounding black areas were fully black!
Happy Macro Monday to everyone.
A te si giunge solo
attraverso di te. Ti aspetto.
Io certo so dove sono,
la mia città, la strada, il nome
con cui tutti mi chiamano.
Ma non so dove sono stato
con te.
Lì mi hai portato tu.
[...]
E finchè tu non verrai
io rimarrò alle soglie
dei voli, dei sogni,
delle scie, immobile.
Perchè so che là dove sono stato
nè ali, nè ruote, nè vele
conducono.
Hanno tutte smarrito il cammino.
Perchè so che là dove sono stato
si giunge solo
con te, attraverso di te.

Major League Baseball's pitchers handle with care, as it will cost you a hit, a run or worst a home run. This is a tribute to Jose Fernandez Marlin's pitcher. A phoneme All Star...gone too soon. MLB and the world remembers you. Rest in Peace as you will be missed on the mound forever! #16
When I was a child, my mother collected these arrow heads fashioned from quartz and similar crystals. They eventually were part of my inheritance but, being smaller than a coin, I lost them and just found them last week looking for wrapping paper in the closet.
We were allowed to examine them but one rule was to handle with care because they are sharp (first letter of my name).
I pointed them in opposite directions so one of these things is not like the others, backlit them with one strobe and used a second at 45-degrees to light the front.
If you look closely, especially near the edges, you can spot a few tiny bubbles in the stones and notice that the one at the upper left has stripes.
Good thing that anything goes for the Macro Mondays "redux" theme.
Strobist:
Arrow heads are lying on a Stofen omnibounce on mounted to a 600EX-II RT pointed up. Front lighting is from a 430EX-III RT at approximately 45-degrees at camera left.

I was amazed at the intricate engineering and design of an abandoned nest, with dry oak leaves outside, pine needles inside, and twigs and reeds along the edge. It reminds me of Christ's reassurance that if God cares for the birds of the air, will he not also care for us? We are even more valuable.
This week Macro Mondays theme is ''Handle With Care''. My subject consists of a wooden mannequin holding a 2'' box where we can read ''FRAGILE - HANDLE WITH CARE''. The story does not tell what the little box may contain (the label may give a little clue), but since the photo session the mannequin is still holding the box and doesn't dare moving at all! ☺
Happy Macro Mondays everyone!
