Guided tour to experience one of Italy's greatest festivals. Central hotel within the city walls. Visit a Contrada museum. Join the locals for a Contrada dinner. Grandstand seats with a spectacular view of the track and the parade on race day. An experience of a lifetime.

We visited Switzerland when I was really young, I think in 1985, or 1986. I remember immediately taking a liking to the tour guide, Joe. I might have even stayed with him, if my parents had let me.

As soon as I arrived at Temple 82, Negoroji, I recognised the scene from the front cover of my pilgrimage guide-book. The guide book, along with the Noukyouchou (the Temple Stamp book) is very valuable to me, they are the two possessions that I would save first if I had to escape a burning building in a hurry.

Was taken on a ride around the farm on one of the stable horses - this was the guide. He spoke no English, I spoke very little and bad Spanish!

A Naxi minority village in Shangri-La. A large percentage of population in Shangri-La is Tibetan. There are also Naxi, Bai and other minorities living in that region.

Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. In the book, "Shangri-La" is a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains. Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise but particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia — a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world. In the novel Lost Horizon, the people who live at Shangri-La are almost immortal, living years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly aging in appearance.

In modern China, the Zhongdian county was renamed to Xiānggélǐlā (香格里拉, Shangri-La in Chinese) in 2001, to attract tourists. The legendary Kun Lun Mountains (昆侖山) offer another possible place for the Shangri-La valleys.
