.The Blue Grotto in Malta is possibly the most scenic spot on the island. It blends natural caves with the bluest of blue water and can be experienced from a distance as well as up close.
Location: Kings Domain, near the Royal Botanical Gardens This feature, funded by public subscription, encompasses stonewalls and pathways in a leafy glade and fernery. It provides a tranquil setting within the Kings Domain. Water cascades through a series of features into a cement grotto, then flows into a series of circular pools. When the water feature is running, bridges and pathways provide meandering walkways around the pools.
The less visited Southeast part of Malta is home to some of the islands’ most extraordinary sites, which should definitely make it onto the ‘must-see’ list of any foreign visitor. One of these locations is none other than the magnificent Blue Grotto.
This popular site attracts over 100,000 visitors per year, with tourists flocking here to see the amazing grotto via local boat trips. It’s also an extremely popular diving and snorkelling spot, with very clear, clean and deep waters.

Yes, I am back to waterfalls. This is one of my favorite falls in the Smokies, it is on the Trillium Gap Trail that leads to Mt. Leconte. Below is one of the Black Bears we saw on the trail to tho summit.
These grottoes are on a peninsula outside of the town, where coincidentally, my hotel was located. I had no idea this geological marvel was just down my street next to the lighthouse.
The scene at Grotto Falls at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It got really busy at the falls by the time we decided to try shooting it, with the main attraction being having your photo taken under the falls. It took a small miracle to get a shot with no people in the frame!

The Grotto is a cave with a natural pool of clear blue water and Indian Head Cove is a scenic inlet located next to the Grotto. This is an excellent place to hike. This time of year, there are not many people around the trails.

Waterfall Wednesday - Grotto Falls is one of my favorite waterfalls in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is a relatively easy hike to get to and you can also find a bunch of salamanders on the way up.
Trillium Gap trail passes behind Grotto falls on its way to the summit of Mt. LeConte. This image was taken from behind the falls.

What was once a window with a view is now a grotto that sees to the needs of the street. If you have something leave it, if you need something take it.
Grotto Geyser erupting along the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. Really cool! I watched this thing spew out water and steam for about 30 minutes. The rock formation on the right almost looks like a man with a moustache and hat resting with his head propped up, facing to the left. Or maybe it was those geyser fumes that has me imagining things!

The grotto at Painshill Park was built between 1760 and 1769 and is decorated with naturalistic crystals and limestone formations. It fell into disrepair in the 1940s and was finally restored between 2012 and 2013 using paintings from 1770 as a guide
We attempted to travel through Grotto Canyon. Helpful people installed a ladder at the first major drop. Unfortunately, they did not put a ladder at the next drop, so we didn't get very far.
Not really a grotto, but, in cold winter, the sylvan feel of Crooked Creek and its surroundings exuded Arcadian seclusion. We tarried awhile.
