THE IVY GREEN
Charles Dickens
Oh, a dainty plant is the Ivy green,
That creepeth o'er ruins old!
Of right choice food are his meals, I ween,
In his cell so lone and cold.
The wall must be crumbled, the stone decayed,
To pleasure his dainty whim:
And the mouldering dust that years have made
Is a merry meal for him.
Creeping where no life is seen,
A rare old plant is the Ivy green.

He was sitting under the footbridge about 6 feet from me. They seem to feel secure with some barrier between us. This time as I shot, a man with a stroller crossed the bridge and the noise and activity was too much. Two shots and he flew off.

The over wintering Green Heron continues at Brydon Lagoon, The ice is half gone now so once again he is able to fish, I don't know how he made it through the cold spell when nearly everything was frozen but so glad he did!.

I took these shots of wattle on the day that we had our BBQ in the rain. Apt whilst the Olympics are on!! Just love the brilliant burst of yellow wattle flowers and it must also be saying that it is getting closer to Spring!!
There were lots of these beautiful beetles about yesterday and they were very amusing to watch. This one put in a lot of effort getting to the flower and then seemed rather disappointed when he got there and, after a quizzical look (see comments below), flew away.

Caught this Green Veined White on the south-western chalk slopes of Mill Hill in West Sussex.
Has anyone an ID of the flower it is feeding on?
