Green Woodpecker

The Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis) is a member of the woodpecker family Picidae. There are four subspecies and it occurs in most parts of Europe and in western Asia. All have green upperparts, paler yellowish underparts, a red crown and moustachial stripe which has a red centre in males but is all black in females.
The Green Woodpecker spends much of its time feeding on ants on the ground and does not often 'drum' on trees like other woodpecker species. It is a shy bird but usually draws attention with its loud calls. A nest hole is excavated in a tree; four to six eggs are laid which hatch after 19–20 days.
The Green Woodpecker measures 30–36 cm in length with a 45–51 cm wingspan. Both sexes are green above and pale yellowish green below, with yellow rump and red crown and nape; the moustachial stripe has a red centre in the male but is solid black in the female. The lores and around the white eye are black in both male and female, except in the Iberian race P. v. subsp. sharpei, in which it is dark grey and males have only a lower black border to the moustache. Juveniles are spotty and streaked all over; the moustache is dark initially, though juvenile males can show some red feathers by early June or usually by July or August.

It was one of a number of new vehicles that were based at St Albans that were used to upgrade the 757 between London Victoria and Luton Airport. Later the vehicle passed to Midland Red North and was rebodied by East Lancs in 1990, it was last operated by Aintree Coachlines before scrapping in 2005.

There was a story I read as a child; The Green Ribbon. It was about a very beautiful little girl who always wore a green ribbon around her neck...
"Once there was a girl named Jenny. She was like all the other girls, except for one thing. She always wore a green ribbon around her neck. There was a boy named Alfred in her class. Alfred liked Jenny and Jenny liked Alfred. One day he asked her, “Why do you wear that ribbon all the time?”
“I cannot tell you,” said Jenny. But Alfred kept asking, “Why do you wear it?” And Jenny would say, “It is not important.” Jenny and Alfred grew up and fell in love. One day they got married. After their wedding, Alfred said, “Now that we are married, you must tell me about the green ribbon.” “You still must wait,” said Jenny. “I will tell you when the right time comes.”
Years passed. Alfred and Jenny grew old. One day Jenny became very sick. The doctor told her she was dying. Jenny called Alfred to her side. “Alfred,” she said, “now I can tell you about the green ribbon. Untie it, and you will see why I could not tell you before.”
Slowly and carefully, Alfred untied the ribbon...
...and Jenny’s head fell off."

And last years I made so many bangles in ehm........shades of greeeeeen!
Moss-green, olive-gold-green, limegreen, kiwigreen, enz (but never right out of the clay-package....I alway mix with green, yellow and blue untill I get the perfect tint of green *rolls with eyes*
So I just made a collage of my bangles.
They are chronological in order: the bangle left-upper-corner is made July 2009 and the bangle in the lower-middle is made last week :)
All of them a completely made of polymerclay, no other base or metals :)
