Great Mormon (left) Tailed Jay (right)

There are several color forms of the female Great Mormon, but only one form for the male. Victorian butterfly collectors called them Mormons, because of the popular belief that Mormons have more than one wife. The different female forms are believed to mimic various bad tasting species to avoid being eaten by birds.
