I am gearing up for my return trip to Iceland next week. Hoping for good weather and some auroras. As part of my planning, I was reviewing images from my 2016 trip and came across this one that I never processed before.

This is what Sprague Lake looked like on December 30, 2017. It was completely covered with snow. This small area didn't have any ice yet because it was the mouth of a small stream feeding into the lake. Strong winds cleared all the snow off, exposing the ice for the next morning.

Tech Tip: The best way to ensure snow will be white in your images is to take an overall exposure reading, then over expose +.03. The camera see bright whites like snow and slightly under exposes it. This just compensates.

Turret Arch and he La Sal Mountains. It took a little hiking and a long lens, but I liked the way this lined up.

Silhouette of Daning Tree in Indonesia with the sunset framed in the branches.

Taken with my Sony A1 Mark II and trusty 24-105G lens and a Ulanzi tripod that got really messed up in the salt water.

We experienced a beautiful scene when the sunrise light lit up these forward trees just a few moments before it lit up the rest of the cypress forest in back. The Egret landing just as it was happening, was a very nice bonus.

Sunrise at the Bay of Fires on Tassie’s east coast was a highlight of our road trip - clear aqua waters, fine white sand and amazing granite rocks covered in vibrant orange lichen.

It is a must visit.

This is the location where the "famous tree" once stood, unfortunately the tree is no longer.

A beautiful sunrise on Fueteventura.

We found this great little shack pretty deep in the swamp. The fall colors really highlighted it.

This fisherman pulls into that same spot every morning at sunrise after his fishing expedition.

It appears Mr Potter has been sighted in Metz this winter! ✨ Hitting New Year’s Eve tomorrow, I’ll just say this: Let the magic flows, wishing you all the best for 2018 folks! 🎊

V Tree at Garden of the Gods - Not much of a sunrise this morning, but I though the light and mood was good for this wide angle shot of the "V tree."

Tech Tip: Shot with the Sony 12-24mm. I am getting very fond of this lens. It expands the range of shots I can capture.
