Degrees are conferred at degree ceremonies, which usually take place in the Sheldonian Theatre, but may take place at the Examination Schools if the Sheldonian is not available. You can graduate straight after you've finished your degree, or many years later, in person by attending a ceremony, or in absence.
Only one degree can be conferred in person at a given ceremony, e.g. if you passed the examinations for a BA degree and then passed a Masters course, the BA would be conferred in absence and the Masters conferred in person at a ceremony. It is not possible to attend a Degree Day following completion of a Certificate or Diploma. If you have any debts or dues outstanding to your college or the University you will not be permitted to graduate. Please refer to the Regulations for Degrees, Certificates and Diplomas for more information.

Nehru College of Management organized the graduation day for the MBA and MCA Students. The gathering of celebrating the Academic Success had an array of Eminent Personalities addressing the vital message to the young graduates who will serve our Nation. The Graduation Ceremony was conducted at NCM on 08th September 2018. Shri. SHYAM SUNDAR, Vice President, HR- Breaks India Pvt. Ltd, Chennai delivered the Graduation address. Dr.P.Krishnakumar, CEO & Secretary, NGI Presided over the Function, and Dr.S.Franklin John, Principal, NCM Welcomed the gathering and presented Annual Report.
In the Presidential address Dr.P.Krishnakumar, CEO & Secretary, NGI expressed that Education has long been considered one of the most important arenas of socialization and a leading force behind social change. He stated that it is a great pleasure for him on this important day. He stressed that as more and more years pass by the graduates will vividly recall the fact this day is recognition of an important step they took in higher education. Also, learning does not stop here every day is going to be an avenue for the young graduates because they are living in a most competitive environment. He wished them all the very best and asked them to develop a positive outlook towards their life.
The Graduation address was delivered by Shri. SHYAM SUNDAR, Vice President, HR- Breaks India Pvt. Ltd, Chennai. He congratulated all the graduates and told that their parents too deserve compliments in their achievements. He stated that “A holistic analysis of academic performance, learning styles, a clear self understanding of the personality and untiring passion for a particular field of work can guide you to pave the way for a successful career that will bring happiness and eventually, prosperity in the long run.
Now that you are going to face the real world, keep pushing forward and always ask for help. Never stop learning. You have to update your skills, be it personal, linguistic or software. Develop the courage to stand up and speak up, and you will find a way.
You cannot imagine what will be invented in the future. You cannot imagine the opportunities that will be presented. You are entering into a world of infinite possibilities, confusing ideas, and continuous changes.
A life plan now will limit your future. Avoid a life plan. Go out and explore the world. Be ready to embrace the exciting prospects of newer technologies and relationships.
He was emphasizing on Knowledge of core subject, Application of the Knowledge, Multi-Disciplinary exposure, Acquaintance with Computers &IT, Familiarity with Industry Standards and Passion for learning are the key factures for success in life.
Mistakes, failures, embarrassments and disappointments are a necessary component of life. We can learn more from our not-so-good experiences than we can learn from our good ones. So take life in your stride as it comes and you will emerge a happier person.
Knowing who you are will help you when it’s time to fight. Fight for the job you want, fight for the people who mean the most to you and fight for the kind of world you want to live in. If you take the unexpected opportunities when they come up and fight for what you believe in, I can promise, that you will live a life that is rich with meaning. Once again I congratulate all the graduating students and their parents on this happy occasion. Go with joy and take on the world with confidence stemming from your knowledge and competence. Best wishes once again.”

PERSONAL FUN FACT: Graduation Day Barbie was one of the many dolls we acquired in the 2014 "Memorial Day Yard Sale Bin." Back in those days, I wasn't altogether fond of newer generations of Barbie. I generally speaking preferred those from 2003 or older. But getting this particular lot opened up my eyes. It kickstarted my collection of mid to late 2000s Barbies. These days I am super fond of all the dolls I got in the bin. It was also a major learning experience, since I had little previous knowledge about dolls from this era. It took me a long time to identify everyone from the lot, but it helped me learn so many new things. One particular feature that made Graduation Day Barbie stand out was her pierced ears. You don't see earrings as often on 2000s Barbies as you did in the 90s. I knew right away that this made her special. The fact that she was supposed to be a graduate made sense. Since her gown was so simple, yet the occasion was so special, Mattel spruced her up with earrings. Colleen has always loved this doll right from the get go. She's ever so cute and charming. While I wouldn't say she's a babe (most "hobbit" Barbies are a little strange looking), she's so sweet looking it's hard not to immediately fall in love! This gal was also special because one of the most infamous dolls of my childhood was 2002 Graduation Barbie, aka Ren. I loved having another graduation themed doll for my collection...even if she didn't have her cap and gown!
