So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Given there is an eruption at Geldingadular in Rekaynes that I can only watch online, I have decided to share another shot from the Ice lagoon taken at Jökulsárlón at 5.15am on the 21st of October 2014. A night shot in Iceland showing the Aurora and the light of the fissure eruption at Holuhraun which was 60 miles away from the lagoon on the other side of the Vatnajokull, this eruption happened in 2014/2015 when I was ln Southern Iceland on my first trip to this amazing country, enjoy this 30 second exposure.
I had looked at getting to Holuhraun but the roads were shut and the helicopters were hugely expensive, I am so jealous of all the people I follow on flickr who have got there in the last week!

Pulteney Bridge, built in 1774 crosses the River Avon in Bath, England.
Designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style, it is one of four bridges having shops built across its full span on both sides.
The bridge is a Grade I listed building.
The Pulteney Weir (or just “the Weir” for short) was built in the late Middle Ages (by 1603) to prevent the river from flooding the town of Bath. It was completely rebuilt in the early 1970s and given the horseshoe shape.
Shallow advice I was given years ago goes something like this: don't decide on her beauty until you see her first thing in the morning. After 24 years and how many hundreds of thousands of miles, NS 8431 has all her beauty marks on display as sunrise reaches out across the Cumberland Valley.

This owl has given some amazing moments for sure. I guess it's a female snowy owl. For whole time she was flying around. Had so many different expression and poses from her. She jump from a table top and fly behind this rock. So instate of not shooting anything I decided to wait until the snowy will give me a good eye contact and compose the shot. The BG is the ocean.
Given to my wife by CTA upon her retirement from teaching high school (...God Bless her) over 40 years. I would have lasted maybe a week. Submittal for the Macro Monday's 3/29/21 theme of "Award"
It is difficult to see the port so calm.
Normally the activity itself and the visitors give an air of effervescence, really the opposite of this photograph.

I had almost given up hope. But then there was a glimmer of light. And then I started to see pink peeping round the side of the mountain, a bit of coloured brightness that lifted my heart in expectation. But perhaps I had been imagining it. And slowly all faded back to grey.
So it is with Dinorwic, different every time I go, cold, warm, windy, calm, dry, wet, foggy, clear...…. pretty...... ugly.
I love this view across the big hole towards the ruins on the other side. I always feel it is awe inspiring.....dare I say it?......awesome. Impressive as it looks, so lofty and high, in this shot you don't even see the vertical 'cliffs', hundreds of feet high, that extend below the bottom edge of the picture.

Thomas Oken (d.1573) came from a humble family, but became the richest man in Warwick, making his fortune dealing in wool and woven fabrics. He lived during the reigns of Henry VII, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I, during a period of great religious change and social upheaval.
Oken was married but died childless, and left his personal fortune to the town. His will arranged – amongst other things – for the payment of the salary of the schoolmaster, annual payments to ‘the poor’, the paving of certain streets, the repairing of the bridge, the wages of the herdsmen and the beadle, the repairing of the wells and the provision of a number of almshouses. The Thomas Oken Charity is still in existence today – and still owns this building, the rent for which goes towards good causes for the benefit of Warwick people.
In his will, Thomas Oken also provided for the spending of £1 annually on a feast, preceded by a service at St. Mary’s. The annual feast still goes on to this day, during which a toast is always given to Thomas Oken’s memory!
By this time, only Lee and I were still here, in the company of our new friend Brian, who for avoidance of doubt among regular readers was not the same Brian who accompanied us on our previous visit to Iceland. This Brian was a human being rather than a yellow VW campervan, touring the area on a five night visit from Chicago. Somehow, and despite having a young family at home, he’d been given clearance by mission control to fly to Iceland and spend a few days alone taking photographs. When my children were the same age as his were now, I could barely make it down to the shop at the end of the road to pick up a pint of milk without company, never mind climb aboard a plane bound for somewhere across the Atlantic Ocean. And here he was, sitting alongside us on this far flung Icelandic beach. The crowds had long since departed - not that you really get crowds at Hvalnes, hidden away from the madding hordes as it is. Last time we’d been here, three years earlier on that gloomy grey morning, we hadn’t seen a single soul as the rain endlessly coated our cameras and foiled our intentions, whilst hiding the landscape in featureless clouds.
Now as autumn kicked in, things were rather different. We’d been here since the middle of the afternoon, absorbing the views, wandering over the beach and the headland by the squat, square orange lighthouse, planning compositions. The shot I’d come for three summers earlier was hopefully somewhere on the SD card, and there was a general feeling of contentment. Despite the increased number of visitors in comparison to last time, it was still very peaceful here. Eystrahorn had put right the wrongs of 2019 when moodily I’d perched on the slippery rocks, barely removing the protective plastic sandwich bag from the camera as it sat unused on the tripod. Everything was visible, from the emphatic bulk of Eystrahorn rising at our side, a symphony of bumps, crags and ridges adorned with heavy skirts of scree, to the distant Brunnhorn that sits back to back against its neighbour Vestrahorn. In between lay a hinterland of forbidding mountains that cloaked the monstrous Vatnajokull glacier, and before them, volleys of white surf danced across a narrow spit of black sand that stretched away beside the huge tidal lagoon into the distance and out of sight. Elemental joy, in whichever direction you chose to look.
There are no cities, towns, nor even villages here - you’d need to drive more than thirty miles in one direction before finding yourself at Djúpivogur, nestling among the south eastern fjords, home to five hundred hardy Icelanders. If instead you decide to head west, you’d travel pretty much the same distance to arrive at Höfn, a veritable metropolis in these parts with almost two and a half thousand inhabitants. Apart from that, there are farms, the odd shepherd’s hut, and an ever increasing number of cabins and bunkhouses to accommodate us tourists. All other compass points lead into the vast ocean or the mostly impenetrable mountains at the edge of the largest glacier in Europe. It’s a long way to go if you forgot to pick up that pint of milk, that’s for sure. You’d have to go and knock on a farmhouse door carrying an empty jug, unless you like your coffee black.
With all of that grand vista spreading away in front of us, the long lens offered possibilities beyond the capabilities of its companions in the bag, and in the golden hour it came into its own, especially in these unforgettable minutes when the pinks began to fill the sky, while the golds continued to linger. On the darkening sand, maybe half a mile away, a small group of visitors roamed the shore, taking selfies, playing beach games, gazing out towards the sea, totally oblivious to the three photographers lurking on those distant rocks. A rare moment when the colours of the golden and blue hours seemed to overlap one another and produce a sky that glowed with heavenly fire, drawing a frenzy of shutters rapidly opening and closing. These are the moments that stay with you, a timeless reminder of why you fell in love with landscape photography. A reminder of why a place like this gets inside of your senses and never leaves.
Our first full day in the southeastern corner had been a good one. We said farewell as Brian headed east to Djúpivogur, while we went the opposite way towards our rented chalet at Stafafell. And little did we know that just a few hours later we’d be out of bed, taking photographs of the Northern Lights. But that’s another story. And another unforgettable one at that too. Iceland keeps on making the stories write themselves.
The Anastasia Formation extends for 2 miles north along the shoreline with cliffs up to 15 feet high at the House of Refuge. Looking south from the end of the boardwalk, Bathtub Reef is visible.
Immediately ahead is an outcrop with small burrows, aminated crusts, solution pipes, a notch and an abrasion platform, and a mass of collapsed rock. Moving north along the beach moving toward the House of Refuge, there are several outcrops with conspicuous notches.
At the House of Refuge are prominent planar bedding, many fossils (including Busycon), small and large burrows, thick laminated calcium carbonate crusts, lithified infillings, solution pipes, notched cliffs, promontories and small coves, and many large masses of collapsed bedrock.

Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the state of Washington. It is a large active stratovolcano located 54 miles (87 km) southeast of Seattle. It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 14,411 ft (4,392 m). Mt. Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, and it is on the Decade Volcano list. Because of its large amount of glacial ice, Mt. Rainier could potentially produce massive lahars that could threaten the entire Puyallup River valley.
Mount Rainier was first known by the Native Americans as Talol, or Tacoma or Tahoma, from the Lushootseed word [təqʷúʔbəʔ] ("mother of waters") spoken by the Puyallup. Another interpretation is that "Tacoma" means "larger than Mount Baker". This comes from the Skagit "Ta", larger, plus "Koma (Kulshan)", Mount Baker. Other names originally used include Tahoma, Tacobeh, and Pooskaus. The current name was given by George Vancouver, who named it in honor of his friend, Rear Admiral Peter Rainier. The map of the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804-1806 refers to it as "Mt. Regniere".
Although "Rainier" had been considered the official name of the mountain, Theodore Winthrop, in his posthumously published 1862 travel book The Canoe and the Saddle, referred to the mountain as "Tacoma" and for a time, both names were used interchangeably, although "Mt. Tacoma" was preferred in the city of Tacoma.
In 1890, the United States Board on Geographic Names declared that the mountain would be known as "Rainier". Following this in 1897, the Pacific Forest Reserve became the Mount Rainier Forest Reserve, and the national park was established three years later. Despite this, there was still a movement to change the mountain's name to "Tacoma" and Congress was still considering a resolution to change the name as late as 1924.
In the excitement leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, John Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado, named 53 mountains after the 53 members of the Denver Broncos. In response, the Washington State Senate passed a resolution on Friday, January 31, 2014, temporarily renaming the mountain Mount Seattle Seahawks. The resolution expired on midnight Monday, February 3, 2014.
Eurasian Wigeon stands out from the other wigeons on the pond with its red head. It seemed a bit smaller to me than the American Wigeons, and I don't think it was an illusion of distance, because it seemed smaller when in front too. I've given up on looking through the pics for a female Eurasian Wigeon. One site said, very unhelpfully, that the female Eurasian Wigeon can be identified by its lack of field marks. Really?????

The sun was shining on the angel hair decorations on the Christmas tree this morning and gave great bokeh. I was given a 6" candle in the shape of a Christmas tree as a gift at Christmas so placed that in front of it to pick up the silhouette.
This shot isn't anything special given that its just a light unit sitting in the shade. But the location is just so cool that I used my wide angle to just capture the whole scene. This lone YN2 AC4400CW is the local power for Selkirk based B765, the Hudson Grain train here on the old Boston and Albany Hudson and Chatham branch now known as CSXT's Claverack Industrial Track.
In addition to the famous two blocks of street running the train also amazingly cuts right through the middle of the town square park. Sharp eyes will note the Hannukah Menorah lit up for the season, and of course just out of frame at left is a Christmas tree too. The crew had paused for a while by the old depot (and soon to be brewery) then pulled across the crossing and stopped right here in the center of town for another break. The conductor kept the locomotive company while the engineer walked to grab a coffee then chatted it up with a local lady and her dog and even loaded a baby up on the engine for some photos. It was all quite amusing and charming in a strange old fashioned railroading kind of way....I suppose it is that whole juxtaposition of time and place contrasting with the norm of modern railroading that makes this job so appealing to watch. I don't know...forgive my rambled musings...this place is just simply too cool to resist, and it continuely calls me back!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. Little art to this one, but a pleasing enough impact given the combination of train, sun and the signal gantry.
GBRf 'Shed' 66789 approaches Basingstoke on the Up Slow with the 10.31am Southampton Western Docks - Ditton (Merseyside) containers (4M59). At the end of the platform behind me, the train will turn sharp left and head towards Reading, Oxford and north through the West Midlands.
The container working on the left of the frame is 4O27, the tail-end of which is just passing through the station (see shot a couple of uploads ago).
South Western Trains class 450, unit 450059 (with a sister set behind), waits on its next turn - probably a local up to London Waterloo.

Wake up call given out by this Knot (Calidris canutus) as I edged closer...this meant that half the flock of birds I was watching scooted over to the next rock pool island. There is always one keeping a beady eye on you! :))

The knot is a dumpy, short-legged, stocky wading bird. In winter, It is grey above and white below; in summer the chest, belly and face are brick-red. In flight, it shows a pale rump and a faint wing-stripe. It forms huge flocks in winter which wheel and turn in flight, flashing their pale underwings as they twist and turn. Many knots use UK estuaries as feeding grounds, both on migration and in winter, and therefore the population is vulnerable to any changes such as barrages, sea-level rises and human disturbance. Large numbers of birds visit the UK in winter from their Arctic breeding grounds.
Given the low train volume on the "Meridian Speedway" getting a train going the right direction during the couple hour time window this shot is well lit is far from a certainty. While I was disappointed to see NS power rather than "home road" CPKC power, I'm not going to complain. The sun even popped out on a pretty rough weather day so I was happy enough with what I got. I'm pretty sure the train was CPKC I168 (becomes NS 26A). Vicksburg, MS 4/2/2024
The fog around Millaa Milla high up in the Atherton tableland is pretty much a given. I find the misty green of the pastures is quitely restful.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Given how shabby most Class 1s are looking now in the era of "Precision Stock Manipulation" haven't had a whole lot of motivation to get out for the usual stuff around home. That might be a different story if I lived somewhere like this where the scenery more than makes up for the dirty orange monotony! Oh who am I kidding, I wouldn't last a week in Montana during winter time.
It's definitely one of the scenes that has been shot to death during these final days of the MRL, but this spot near Perma still has to be my personal favorite. Mountains, river, big trees, pretty much everything that sums up Montana.
Gängeviertel is the name given to the narrow and densly popuated streets in the inner city areas of Hamburg back in the 18th and 19th century. Today only a few houses remain scattered along the inner city areas. The today Gängeviertel is a small area in Hamburg Neustadt, which was dispute to gentrification and protest and resulted in the squatting and later legalised project of the "Gängeviertel Cooperative".

In a strong case of "be careful what you wish for," this shot of a westbound Illinois Railway train crossing the wooden trestle in Millbrook is something I have wanted capture for many, many years now. It's rarely ever possible, given that the IR trains run mostly at night. And the trestle is barely visible in the summer months when it is still possible to catch this run in daylight due to the heavy leaf cover. And, as the years have worn on, the scrub trees have only gotten bigger and thicker.
So, when I was out at Silver Springs State Park looking to shoot whatever was left of the fall colors and heard the horn for the westbound run, I headed back to the car and raced to get to Millbrook before the train. I made it, but only barely. And only because a semi traveling the wrong way struck the bridge over the road out of frame to the right. The semi's trailer was too tall for the road clearance, and sustained major damage as a result. The train slowed and had to crawl across the bridge and eventually stopped short of the Millbrook rail crossing. MOW crews were dispatched from IR's base in Ottawa, and the train would hold here for the next several hours pending inspection of the road bridge. Thanks to this, my hopes of catching the train multiple times with the last of the fall colors as a backdrop quickly came to an end.
