Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

I succumbed to a moment of nostalgic weakness and perused my archives. Given my complete lack of organizational know-how, matched only by my supreme hoarding skills (this, by the way, is a recipe for disaster), I was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem languishing there. I was even more impressed by the fact that, apparently, I had already done most of the processing on this. I began to ponder what made me abandon those efforts in favour of whatever else I ended up doing. Was it the Instant Pot and my quest for the perfect Hungarian Goulash recipe? Who knows and who really cares. (It did end up tasting delicious, however).
So, I am sharing with you now the female Downy as she does her best Nuthatch impression. Actually, she needs to rotate some more, but not bad for a first try. Just as a point of interest, I am proud to report that no canoe was involved here to move myself into position to obtain the best possible perspective and light on the iris. The reason I mention a canoe is that I have found that some of the best iris shots I have ever seen were taken from the vantage point of a canoe (Jerome). So I did some research and I found that a canoe can indeed be quite instrumental in navigating to the position required for a perfect iris shot. As my mind drifts off to ponder the possibilities of this, I quickly realize that my circumstances up here differ somewhat drastically from Jerome’s . For one thing, there is no bayou in this area and I do appreciate that a canoe is best used on water. Yes, we do have some lakes that might do the job but I don’t think they would really function as adequate stand-ins for the bayou. I would also have to acquire a trailer and permit to transport the canoe but then I’d need some practice backing up with the trailer … the more I contemplate this, the more I discover the difficulties with this plan. Of course, I could just plant the canoe in the yard and use it as a stationary structure to take my shots from. But the sun does travel during the day which would require me to push/pull/drag the canoe to the most advantageous spot, given the time of day. How likely am I to do that? Right, … not! I could invest in multiple canoes and position them strategically in the yard to solve the placement variation quandary. But wait, wait … wait! I realized quickly when I knew I should I already have something that works quite nicely for me without having to invest in a pelican box. Yes, you got it … The Adirondack. Much more easily positioned in my location of choice – I actually have two, which simplifies matters even further. True, it’s not as exotic as a canoe but really we are after results here and not the actual journey. And another benefit is that it’s much easier to sip a Krombacher in the Adirondack and maintain my balance and a semblance of decorum, especially if it’s more than one during the course of the day. And … I don’t have to leave the premises …

Two weeks since we saw Lion and had given up hope but simply could not stop looking because of Beau's sad demeanor....my sister suggested maybe Lion got packed away with the Christmas decorations and could be in the loft.. Jonathan and I didn't have an ounce of energy left and are still in pain after small but painful injuries incurred when searching for Lion during the last few days. I asked my son Ivan who came down and went into the loft but no Lion there.. He looked in the wheelie bin ( the only place we hadn't looked apart from the loft...not there. He went back out to the conservatory (which is very small ) and looked under the sofa and both chairs..not there..pulled out a sofa to see if Lion was behind it and.........Lion dropped down to the floor and Beau had Lion back at last..phew. Much rejoicing of an almost 11 year old dog being reunited with an even older raggy lion..bought second hand for its raggy softness and rubbed all over Beau who was straight from the whelping pen. He still had raggy Teddy..same history but has been taught to fetch Teddy and Lion separately and was still searching disconsolately every day for Lion.. Not quite the same as a Lion lying down a lamb. Just our Beau laying down with Teddy and Lion.. Have to tell him to bring both again now ..Sue :)
I was given a huge present yesterday, as I set about to take a picture from the sunset. There was an amazing reflection of the setting sun in the clouds, so it looked as if there were two suns setting simultaneously.

Given the huge renewed interest in vinyl records, my contribution to this week's #Macro Mondays theme of "Queen" captures the 1981 Greatest Hits album playing on an old turntable - "Don't Stop Me Now"!
I have given this scene from Arches National Park a title that is a quote from the book "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," by J.R.R. Tolkien. When I composed the photo, I had the idea that the rock walls appeared to look like a castle with a tower on the left. But it was in the editing process that I discovered the long shadow in the foreground which created a mood that for me felt like the scene painted by Tolkien's prose.
Time spent in prayer will yield more than that given to work. Prayer alone gives work its worth and its success. Prayer opens the way for God Himself to do His work in us and through us. Given the upsurge in youth crime, many different approaches are being adopted to stop mindless thieves entering your home. We are happy to deploy Charlotte, the Golden Orb-Weaver Spider across our front porch. Anyone who comes may get a nasty case of Orb-Weaver face. She sits happily out there, even on really hot days which must crisp up her food sacs which can be seen above. I decided to put Charlotte up today (and yes, we do talk to her) because of the story below from today's news about a Micro Bat getting caught in "Goldie's" web in a town up inNorth Queensland. You can read about it here. Golden orb spider captured eating microbat in Far North Queensland.
Sadly, Charlotte passed away not long after she laid her egg sac, see later photo and we buried her in the earth from which she came.

I was given this pot containing 4 lily plants for my birthday, hopefully with a bit of TLC they will bloom year after year. For Smile on Saturday theme "bring nature into your home". I'm not entirely happy with the shadows here but despite knowing the theme all week (for a change) I left it too late for natural daylight today & had to take this with flash.
It's been a busy few days so forgive my lack of comments, I'll catch up asap. Happy Freitagsblümchen!

Having been given permission back out onto the main, the engineer on the "Rosario Local" throttles up his two SD40s while the brakeman waits to re-line the derail once the short train is clear. They've just finished switching Nustar Asphalt, which can be seen in the far right of this shot. This track is part of the pre-1966 AT&SF alignment, which generally followed the Rio Galisteo from near its confluence with the Rio Grande towards Lamy.
This was the culmination of a one year long desire and about a four hour wait. I had seen this shot in my head ever since beginning my time qualifying out of Albuquerque, but it was either "they don't run up here anymore" or (once regular, predictable service resumed) I was always working when this job was working. Everything fell together today though, and it was worth waiting for!
One or two roses in my garden are particularly stubborn and refuse to admit that winter approaches and most other rose plants have given up already!
The blue bits on the soil are dead petals that need to be sorted out and chucked away but my condition at present makes that an impossibility!

Koʻolau Range is a name given to the dormant fragmented remnant of the eastern or windward shield volcano of the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. It is not a 'mountain range' in the normal sense, because it was formed as a single mountain called the Koʻolau Volcano (koʻolau means "windward" in Hawaiian). What remains of Koʻolau is the western half of the original volcano that was destroyed in prehistoric times when the entire eastern half—including much of the summit caldera—slid cataclysmically into the Pacific Ocean. Remains of this ancient volcano lie as massive fragments strewn nearly 100 miles over the ocean floor to the northeast of Oʻahu. Kāneʻohe Bay is what remains of the ancient volcano's summit caldera after the slide. The modern Koʻolau mountain forms Oʻahu's windward coast and rises behind the leeward coast city of Honolulu — on its leeward slopes and valleys are located most of Honolulu's residential neighborhoods. The remaining summit of the tallest peak, Puʻu Kōnāhuanui is approximately 3,100 ft tall.
The Ko‘olau Range Pali was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972 and covers an area of 565 acres that is split between private and state ownership.

Another dip into the older files given a dearth of outings recently. Hardly an original composition but I thought it deserved a run out.
Semaphores still ruled the roost when this shot was taken at Barnetby, and would do so for another couple of years. Probably less appreciated at the time was how swiftly coal traffic, once the mainstay freight of the rail network, was going to diminish to an almost complete halt.
In this shot Freightliner Shed 66509 takes the loop line with the 7.00am Ferrybridge Power Station - Immingham Docks empty coal hoppers (4R35). Here it would wait time for around 40 minutes while passenger trains passed and took right of way and possibly to meet operational requirements at Immingham Docks.
Wrawby Junction Signal Box is just visible over the rear of the train.

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Grandad at the top of the slide. Nana at the bottom of the slide to catch Jack. Camera in hand...Jack who? This was captured before landing.
I knew that moving from Florida, that I would miss the burrowing and barred owls ... but I also knew that Colorado would offer up its own variety of owls. I put a few of them high on my list, but probably none higher than the northern pygmy owl. See, I had never seen one before. Several times I had been looking without success. I figured that it would happen when I least expected it.
On this day, we went out in a desperate search to find one ... or perhaps a saw whet owl. No such luck. We had all but given up. As we were driving about, Amy said she saw something that was "too small" to be anything, but I had my binoculars with me, so I fugured why not stop and check it out. So glad that we did ... because we found this guy perched in the bare tree branches! Finally .... it happened and as figured, when we had all but given up for that day anyway.
I couldn't believe how incredibly beautiful and mesmerizing its eyes were. It was clearly not the least bit concerned with us. It would look around from its perch in its vicinity for prey. When it would turn its head we noticed its dots on the back of its head ... "fake eyes" if you will. Amazing!
So excited and felt very thrilled that it blessed us with its presence. :-)

This is an oldie ('21), but it deserves an encore. This Kirtland's Warbler, found at Swann Park in Baltimore, is the only one recorded for Maryland. It stayed for a week or so, giving excited birders many fantastic views. It exhibited no fear of humans, occasionally landing on or walking over shoes as it searched for food. Given the behavior, thinking was that it was a young bird.
Given that our Autumn was very warm and sunny I had an opportunity to ride down to Scarborough. I found this perspective to view one of the Surf lifesaving watch towers. It is an astonishgly beautiful structure and from this vantage point is reminds me of Jeffrey Smart's paintings. I used my personal "film" settings based on Fujifilms chrome settings. I have a few more shots that are subtly different. Just a beautiful minimalist view with bright colours.
Given the recent wintry weather, together with the substantial residential developments that have taken place in Harpur Hill since this image was taken, I've decided to shunt this shot forward from 8 years ago as a reminder of the rather more sleepy hamlet it used to be. The original upload has been deleted.
The main subject is the row of dwellings but, just above them, one of the few trains a day that use this active quarry line is discreetly approaching. Well, perhaps not so discreetly given a labouring locomotive and quite the climb at this point.
DBS shed 66154 is at the head of the 11.10am Tunstead - Briggs Sidings, Hindlow (6H22) 1600t loaded limestone. The train is unusually being top and tailed by unit 66238 just about visible at the back, this due to points damage at its destination caused by a derailment a month earlier.
As usual there's something uniquely attractive about a village in the snow and I snapped the train early to avoid drawing the eye too much away from the houses. Looks best full-screen, but not for everyone!

Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, located east of Troutdale, between Corbett and Dodson, along the Historic Columbia River Highway. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the State of Oregon. It is credited by a sign at the site of the falls as the second tallest year-round waterfall in the United States but that claim is debated among waterfall experts

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

On Friday, I had not long got into work when Phill rang to say that Kaiser was very distressed and had huge amounts of drool coming out of his mouth. When I got home he had run outside onto the lean to roof and there was lots of drool still coming out of his mouth. It took an age to coax him down but eventually I managed. I rang the vet and got an emergency appointment, but not until 11.00am. The drooling had subsided a little but he was still very distressed. The vet check him out and said that although his teeth were in good shape, he flinched when she touched one of them. She said that he might have banged it against something (perhaps Pixie thumped him!) Or it could have been he ate something that was mildly corrosive. He was given a painkilling injection and some Loxicom which he absolutely loves. He seems totally recovered now and we are keeping an eye on him for any changes. The vet advised to take him back in a week or two if nothing changes and they will check him out again. It gave us such a fright. I have had Kaiser from 6 weeks old. He is now 13 and has never been ill. Oh his weight is back up to 7 kilos *sigh*

The iconic Alcatraz Prison that was given the moniker ‘the Rock’ on Alcatraz Island, a geological rock so to speak literally cropping out San Francisco Bay. From the waterfront along the northern end of the peninsula where Fisherman’s Wharf is located, the Rock is clearly visible. As my sweet and wonderful west coast damsel and I wander the northern waterfront just west of the Fisherman’s Wharf, I continue to capture images of the prison as the lighting at that time of day is really working well. My first time to the city by the bay last summer my views to Alcatraz and heck everything was greatly impaired by the marine layer, a fastidious and incredibly thick fog that is drawn inward because of the higher inland temperatures that my darling west coast damsel had warned me about but honestly you have to see it to believe it. Alcatraz when the gold rush hit in 1840’s was chosen to get military fortification built on it to protect the burgeoning and growing San Francisco. When the Civil War ensued, it became a war prison, another interesting parallel with dear New York City as the fortification Castle Williams on Governors Island also utilized as a Civil War prison. My lovely companion and I were going to board a ferry to the island the following day to tour the Rock as it is now part of the National Parks Service but extremely high winds cancelled all marine activity on San Francisco Bay that day. Will get out there eventually, soon hopefully after this precarious and life altering COVID19 pandemic becomes manageable. It’s funny because here I am posting about this famous closed federal prison in Alcatraz and most of us here in the US and in many places in the world are prisoners so to speak in our own homes, working and studying from home but not because we did something wrong, but because this self-quarantine is to contain the pandemic, get it under control with the hopes that at the end of the tunnel life will return to a semblance of normalcy. Stay safe everyone.

I got this hat for a good friend on my latest travel to Trinidad. I’m sure he’d approve of my using it for a travel photo or fashion statement, lol. I don’t travel as much as I use to given to some health issues in last few years. That’s subject to change so stay tuned. Thanks for viewing my photos. Given there is an eruption at Geldingadular in Rekaynes that I can only watch online, I have decided to share another shot from the Ice lagoon taken at Jökulsárlón at 5.15am on the 21st of October 2014. A night shot in Iceland showing the Aurora and the light of the fissure eruption at Holuhraun which was 60 miles away from the lagoon on the other side of the Vatnajokull, this eruption happened in 2014/2015 when I was ln Southern Iceland on my first trip to this amazing country, enjoy this 30 second exposure.
I had looked at getting to Holuhraun but the roads were shut and the helicopters were hugely expensive, I am so jealous of all the people I follow on flickr who have got there in the last week!
