Getting Older

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Everyone is getting older

Step by step I feel

Looking afar behind my shoulder

Is this time for real?

Dreams are always locking the way

Nothing to return to

Here comes yet another day

Both for me and you

Everyone has words to tell

Their thoughts in saying

We are in this moment's spell

Every departure weighing

Anything you do is of past

In its onward going

Hoping it will for sometime last

Though not really knowing

Everyone is just like me

Whishing for their dream to stand

We have ways and liberty

Each at our moment’s command

Yesterdays were once in flowers

Seed by seed they’d grow

Now we have this morning showers

Where shall the future go?

At the cabin for spring break. First spring break vacation without the entire family, oldest wanted to spring break with others. :( #gettingolder #girlfriends #sad

And you were expecting a chicken coop!

I think my new tattoo is almost healed. It's been just over a week and it's itchy. It was nice out again today, nice enough for me to put my suit on and sit on the back deck without freezing so here you have it. I wore this bathing suit bottom when I got it and realized it is a lot lower than most of my other suits so it may only show a bit. Eh.

Here you will see the artist doing the work.

So SM. Just what about it can't you believe? I'm curious. That I got a tattoo at all? Or at my age? Where it is located? The design? Tell me. . .

SKC? Your issue? Perhaps that I said I would never get a tattoo at all? Like I said, I guess one should never say never.

CVP? Your comment? P1280397

Cliche alert!! Had a birthday trip to the beach today and a long walk in the winter sun.

Lovely

Sex after 50 can still be full of surprises. In fact, it can be even better than ever! Dr. Lori Bisbey explains why.

This age progression of Marilyn Monroe was created for her 80th birthday for the Independent. It shows how she may have looked now. Part of my Dead Famous collection of age progressed icons.

I do truly wonder about myself...I needed to take some SP (which I hate) but I wonder because I get so nervous and stupid about doing it! lol Although my cousin told me all women are psycho (very nice!) But it shouldn't be so stressful, right?

Now I posted 3 here, and you can see how an angle, light and crop can make or break it :) This one is my favorite, I had no make up on yet, thank god for photoshop(the most expensive makeup!) ..kidding. I left everything as I am just softened up the light.

One of my friend once took some for me and took out my freckles..I told him that was cheating, the freckles came with me! lol Although I did smooth out under my eyes a bit, cause those didn't come with me, they just came!! hahaha The urge to take out the wrinkles in the last one was great (they showed most in that one)!

I hope everyone is enjoying this late india summer after all the rain we have had.

Be well my friends and thank you for always making time to stop by.

For the sixty-four colors group. I was almost ready to concede this week when I looked at Grammy's cane. She reluctantly allowed me to photograph her hand on the cane after I explained that I wanted to tell a little bit of story instead of just taking a picture of a metal tube. Have a fantastic week and a great holiday in the US.

I didn't have any chalk to outline crime scene, but it looked brutal. More urban crime in a boring strip mall. Norwalk, CA

well I have about 1739 reasons (or 2799 metric reasons) why I am crabby today. it's my birthday and i'm in a different city from Ness. stupid work! So this is what I look like today, stamping around with my little head antennea sticking up.

Also, I'm not convinced these are actually blue friendship bands.

For Lu

I was having a really really rough day today - everybody wants to fight with me: life, photography, ex-friends, even my own chemistry.

I got home after a horrible day, only to find a registered letter from those evil women who stole my play. They are now saying that they hold the copyright and all the rights to put it on anytime they want - and owe me nothing.

I felt bruised to the core - betrayed and hurt, bleeding from the insides.

AS the evening progressed, turning the camera onto myself, and I thought of Lu and how she inspires me...

This is for you Lu

She is a flickr friend who I am going to meet in Toronto as we make our road trip to Detorit. Her honesty and beauty make me understand how I need to love myself more, and look to the warrior woman inside for strength and and my own voice.

I haven't been on my bike as much as I would like lately. Mainly the issue is that training indoors has reached a hitherto unknown level of tedium. I've also been thinking about how and why I ride a lot.

I've read a couple articles in the last six months about how the change in cycling culture in the US would benefit from more casual riders and fewer "lycra louts" (a British term I believe) and how making space for bicycles separate from cars has many positive impacts.

I'm never going to be a racer and I'm never going to look good in lycra so maybe I should be more laid back in my approach. This year I hope to ride just for the fun of it. Let's face it, I'm just Another Fat Guy In Lycra.

I was parking the car in a really tight space on the way to the Green Mill on Saturday night.

Michael stepped up and was really helpful guiding me to a 'bash free' park job.

Of course I knew what that meant so I remembered I had a couple of bucks in my pocket.

Micheal wanted a beer.

I handed him some cashish and told him I appreciated it.

It was obvious that Michael was struggling with life.

There's a lot of people having a hard time right now.

At the margins of society... on the fringe... in the cold shadows tonight someone will be laying alone, shivering and scared and trying to keep warm... wondering why life can be so merciless.

It's times like these that can quickly reduce those with little to those who have nothing.

Walking a few blocks our paths crossed again and he must have forgot he met me because he hit me up again...

This time the light was better so I popped him.

I told him I just gave him some dough and then he remembered me.

When I showed Michael his image on the back of the camera I asked him what he thought.

He said 'I've seen better.'

He seemed disappointed with what time and life had done to him.

Aren't we all?

Getting Old

Stuck on a phone con before a late lunch, on a hot day... Starting to feel a bit draggy. Whittier, CA

Playing with my little Roby during my birthday and feeling like a middle age auntie, I'm asking my self..."what has happened?" and especially "how?!!!" =))))

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOUR WISHES!!!!

This country is not kind to aging (even though there are a hell of a lot of us) and there are fortunes being made convincing us geezers that the right hair dye, clothes, skin cream, or little blue pill will let us recapture our lost youth. Get over it. Face it and embrace it! I try to make these self-portraits as true to the way I am now as I can( warts and all).

Lifestyle age progression. I aged Claire 20 years for SHE magazine according to her lifestyle which was pretty healthy on the whole.

Look at how the time goes past.

#oldman

I've been wearing glasses full time since I was around 10 year old, but now at 51, the time has come to get varifocals.

I was a bit nervous that it would all work out. It took a couple of weeks to get used to them to be honest, with 1 eye watering. Now they are now fine. I've almost re-trained my brain to 'point my nose' at what I want to look at. Before then I found myself 'hunting' for the best focus.

I paid for the better lenses, so the cheap ones must be terrible.

The main issue I had is now gone. I was having trouble seeing the steering wheel controls on the rental cars. They were too near for me to focus on. That's not a good situation on a dark motorway at 5am.

As my family grows old, I have started to be more exposed to information I haven't had been before. Diabetes and hypoglycemia are really big among the elderly in particularly. Please, if you like this inforgraphic share it with you friends. Let's raise diabetes awareness.

I aged Jacquie 20 years for SHE magazine according to her lifestyle which had been pretty bad though she'd made drastic changes to her diet and exercise pattern. Lifestyle age progression.

we both just noticed that his beard is now more gray than brown.

We used to get photo booth photos about once a year at the K-Mart until they took the photo booth away. Bummer! Anyway, I have a bunch of these. I made this collage of those old pics from 1987 (or '88) combined with some photos of Mickey and Gabe in the last couple of years. I love seeing how they've changed .... and, um ... not changed!

A little late to posting but since getting the puppy in October, Jedi has been taken out of the spotlight. I figured getting the pups out during golden hour on warmer then normal February day would allow him to reclaim the spotlight.

"I threw a pebble in a brook,

And watched the ripples run away,

And they never made a sound.

And the leaves that are green turned to brown,

And they wither with the wind,

And they crumble in your hand."
