Came upon this great old deco style sign after spending an hour at the local BMV waiting for a license renewal. Loved the way the sun was kissing the face of the sign amid a backdrop of dark clouds. Great photo op I thought but decided to let it go and continue on my way. It would be absolutely comical if my car was captured on a security camera. It would show me slowing as I approached the sign, then coasting on for about 500 feet beyond before my brake lights illuminated and my car suddenly turned a 180. "Who am I kidding" was my thought as I made my way back and pulled over for a closer look. I rarely take a pass anymore in these situations. Sure, I could return another day, but I knew the sunlight and cloud combo was tailor made for tis moment and it would never appear quite the same way again. And I've also learned that coming back next week often turns into coming back never. Very easy to talk yourself out of a 20 mile drive just to take a photo of a sign (or whatever), yet insanely easy to just pull over in that moment and get the photo. The minute I got out of the car and stood face to face with the sign, I knew I had made the right decision. Yep; light was perfect, time was now. No camera, no problem. Smartphone has proven more than adequate as a backup in situations like this. So funny how the universe guides me into these scenarios. I just keep rolling sevens.

Another reason to mess with the fog machine! (I promise, the fog machine's only purpose is Lego-related. I don't bust it out at parties or anything!)

Hello!

This foggy, swampy outpost is another freebuild for the GoH forum on Eurobricks - I suppose that's not much of a surprise anymore! I feel like this is my best MOC up-to-date, or at least I hope so because getting those three roofs to sit flush with one another was frustrating as hell. I had a lot of fun building this one, and I hope you enjoy! Feedback always welcomed!

And to you gator fans out there, I apologize for the brutality witnessed above, but that's some darn good eating!

What will those dolls do next?

Getting ready. Photo by Gwendolyn Morris

I'm hungry. They're getting it all ready for me... Let's go.

I'm in charge of getting the basketballs I guess. When they lose one, I go get another one. When one roll to the side of the court, I go get it. That's my life. LOL. Atleast i get to look cute doing it..lol. Thanks to Pink Cream Pie, I get to rock this really cute Kayla skirt which comes with an option to wear thong or not. It also comes in 18 colors for skirt and thong. Ladies, the Kayla skirt by Pink Cream Pie will match anything in your inventory. I soooo love the Kayla skirts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy shopping ladies ☺

Wifey is away for the weekend... Winner! What's a man supposed to do with himself on a Friday evening? Get nekkid of course! At least I'm honest gents ;)

So I have the living room to myself and out comes 'the gear'

Two light stands and an office chair mat courtesy of Ikea suspended between them. Gelled 'Medium Blue Green' YN560IV fired from below 1/16 @ 24mm. Gelled 'Rust' YN560IV fired from above and slightly behind me 1/8 @ 105mm. Ryus Lightworks MkII torch gelled 'Quality Street' orange and then a quick swap to a 'Quality Street' blue for the background faffery. These had the LPB black fibre modifier attachment. Exported to PS for some fartnarkling and lots of 'Liquefy' to hone the torso!! Then into LR for the RAW conversion.

Enough 'techie' Mark D :)

Thought I best make an effort after last nights quickie! Many thanks to all you folks who commented on my No1 :)

An UN-forgettable experience !!!!!! ❤️❤️❤

I will tell you now a heartfelt S.African story of Liza’s recent experience over there, with this adorable giraffe girl, that you can see in my today’s photos!!

Well, that very warm day I was alone with Alex , my lovely Scottish guide and driver , in that huge savannah jeep of the Lion Park in Johannesburg. No other tourists participated in that hour of the day…Just Liza. The jeep was not protected in that specific area, because we were surrounded by harmless African animals, ….like giraffes!!

A certain moment, turning my head to my left, and about some 600m away, I see a lonely giraffe staring at our jeep. Alex stops the car , and says, “ Ah, she is Alice”!! Suddenly, I see …Alice starting galloping towards us…She stops some 50m away, and then calmly starts walking towards our jeep….My camera in my hands, does not stop shooting…Alice stops, and starts sniffing around the jeep, getting closer to me, while I was sitting on the left back, upper seats of the jeep!! My heart is about to explode!!! I see her ….enormous head with those adorable eyelashes approaching …..my face holding the camera! I leave the camera aside!!! ….I touch her cheeks!!! ….Start cuddling her face! She feels like a horse!!!.... She comes VERY close to my face, and leaks my face all over, and breaths all over my face!! I close my eyes cuddling her cheeks!! She makes a horse-like noise with her mouth , staring directly into my eyes, while I see her with my eyes wide open now. And….. then, ….she starts getting away from the jeep slowly!!!

I am sitting on my seat, motionless, breathless! Was this real???An African giraffe just kissed my face ??? I cuddled a lovely giraffe’s face, for, at least, 4 minutes???.....I started jumping up and down on my seat, laughing, joyfully saying “Yess! Yess!!!!” , while Alex jokingly, says, “She was just a friendly girl, Liza, not a handsome man!!” ❤️❤️❤️

Red deer sometimes cross the busy Long walk to get to the other side of the park, which is great for the runners who frequent it, as it's a sight you don't often see on your morning jog :)

This is a composite image made from photos I took in different places (the background was taken in Brussels' Central Station, the animal is an elephant I captured in Kenya). This picture is part of my series titled "Wild Animals Downtown". I wanted to generate a surreal atmosphere with a clean and unexpected composition (Every graphic element you see in my Flickr gallery comes from my own stock/production)

Always Be a Beginner to See

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

You, always be a beginner to see

The runaway in motions close from you

The street's not empty if there is a tree

Shadowing your footsteps from the sky blue

Each of your moments is nearly not fed

Like rain bowing colours in cyberspace

The prism of few: yellow, purple, blue, red

Coming and visiting each of your place

Come see a few pictures there in your mind

Experience passing longitude in line

If I'm not wrong and you're not colour-blind

It's hard all those shades clearly to define

Closed book gets open a guide to the way

How you each moment meet with a new day.

ODC Our Daily Challenge: Getting Started

Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos) is a small, familiar songbird, commonly found in parks and gardens, woodland and scrub. Living up to its common name, it has a beautiful, loud song with repeating phrases. Widespread throughout Europe, and as far east as Siberia, northern populations are migratory, heading to Africa, whereas our song thrushes tend to be residents. From March until April, song thrushes breed, often producing three broods of up to five blue, spotty eggs. Song thrushes will eat all kinds of food, but earthworms make up a large part of their diet. When the ground becomes too hard to get at them, song thrushes will eat snails instead. To get at the meat inside, they take the shell and crack it open by banging it against a stone 'anvil'. This behaviour is unique to these birds. Photo by Nick Dobbs, Stour Valley, Bournemouth, Dorset 05-02-21

as the day went on. Byron Bay beach looking north

As winter draws nearer and daylight savings drew to a close, I once again find myself in the end-of-the-year hibernation that seems to have become an annual occurrence. Certainly a struggle to find the desire to want to shoot anything when darkness comes quick, the days get chillier, and probably most importantly, a lack of stuff I actually want to bag. So many things I would otherwise enjoy shooting have become nocturnal, and everything else is too far away to justify - be it time, distance, or cost to get there being the killer. A little burnout from a long year is the cherry on top of it all.

But, all is not lost. All it takes is the right thing to prod me and I'm out in the hot seat once again. A little heads-up that CN A407 had the venerable IC1000 leading it earlier in the day made me decide for once it would be worth jumping out of the house and taking a peek. I needed to run some errands anyway, why not have a look? Happily enough, I ran across the train as it was pulling up to Leverett Junction for a recrew. It was only a short wait until they were ready to go and moving - and I just couldn't resist going for the classic twin elevators of Leverett proper for a shot.

IC1000, class leader of the Illinois Central SD70s, has become the most coveted of all 26 all-black units today. Earlier this year, while in for its usual maintenance, the 1000 was given a gift: new white reflective tape to replace the ~17 year old yellow tape on the sill and footwells.

With a paint scheme as incredibly simple as the IC New Image "Death Star" is, even the smallest changes make a big difference - and wow, what a difference the white sill makes here. The addition of the AC and the - thankfully - tastefully small PTC antennae on the roof of the unit means you wouldn't fool anyone into thinking it would fit perfectly into the 1990s again... but it's pretty damn close. Although unlikely, it would be a real treat to see some more of the SD70s regain their white sills again. One can dream, anyway.

I've not had the best luck catching the IC1000 after its re-silling, so to get a chance to nab it again was a real delight. Some would complain about the CN-dressed IC1009 trailing, but I didn't terribly mind. No matter what trails, I'll never complain about getting to see the 1000 in the lead!

On the day we showed up to poke around to get pictures of their retired trucks, it just so happened to be the day the tow truck was hooking up to the very first of the many trucks here to be taken to scrap. Our luck was incredible, the people here were friendly, inviting and knowledgeable on every last truck in their yard. Thank you to everyone here for showing off the equipment. Half of these trucks are likely already gone by the time I get these posted on Flickr
