we have been getting ready for the holidays this weekend and I thought I would take a break and snap some pics. you can see us in there and the ladder and everything all a tatter, but we're almost done (with the outside at least)!
there's something about christmas lights that helps to get me in the spirit of the season. not quite there yet, still half scrooge here this year, but I'm working on it!
=)
Well, at least for second or less ... the frame before this is the adult with the fish and the juvenile in pursuit ... the frame after this one the fish in the talons of the juvenile bald eagle.
Geena is now 9 years old, that's a good age for such a big dog and she's still fine, but lately I realize that unfortunately she does not have so much energy...
I wish you all a beautiful sunny weekend!
It's never good to be "too serious" or to frown too much. It's always good to look at the positive side of things.. The glass half full. No matter what.
This type of thinking ensures a happier life. A better mood. A great attitude. Less depression.
When I start to feel depression or anxiety creeping up, I do my best to push it aside.. and GET SILLY!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I've always been a bit silly once you get to know me. But it's always important to never be too serious.. too sad. Because Life is TOO SHORT.
Smile. Laugh. & GET SILLY!!
Don't pretend like you want to be here.
It's clear your mind is somewhere else.
Leave me to bask in my own glory.
Quit the act.
It's clear your mind is somewhere else.
Leave me to bask in my own glory.
You play me like another fool.
Cover me with a jester hat.
I will not be covered any longer.
You will back the fuck down.
Take a step back.
Look at yourself.
See all the lies?
Just give up now.
Raise yourself up from this mess.
I know how you feel.
What you're going through.
But I'm beyond that you sunk down.
Get your satisfaction. Get your fix.
Just know I will not clean up your fucking mess.
I have an Olympus Tough waterproof camera which I don't use that often... this is handy when out in a kayak on the microscope setting... getting close isn't easy when you are in a kayak trying to hold the camera over the side as the water moves you along!
Although this was taken several years ago, I remember the day distinctly. This Red-tail came flew quite close and I knew he didn't like me being in his territory. I held my ground and took the shot anyway.
Best viewed large. Click the arrows in the right-hand corner.

I love this dramatic effect of the clear emerald water and dark cloud with rain...

A great crested grebe (Podiceps cristatus) that just fed one of its chicks with a fish, some weeks ago.
Even though I was away on vacation when the chicks were small enough to be carried on their parents´ backs, it was fun to photograph them at this size as well for the first time.
I will show photos where their fish shows later on ツ

The tide was high in the Marina and these two juvenile Cormorants were sitting on the handrail, moving closer together and eventually ending in a tussle with their long beaks. At the same time they let out a loud squawk.
This was taken early last year but after searching for another image to print from this set, i stumbled across this one and decided it deserved an edit, possibly a print?
Anyways, i have some stupendously good ideas for shoots this year. I can't wait to put them into action. Im so excited! I just love this shit!! Watch this space friends.....

Well, here I am (finally) for my get pushed challenge. Here was the challenge I received from Fiona:
Hi Anna,
I have just had a look through your wonderful photo stream and I have found it very difficult to think of anything that will push you.
I did notice that most of your shots have a such a lovely warm tone to them, fabulous natural light. So my first idea for a challenge for you is to do something really bright, maybe with artificial light and a real pop of bright colours. You have such fun shots, so I think this would work for you.
If you don't like this idea, I thought maybe something with light trails in it, a night scene.
I hope one of these appeals to you and I look forward to seeing your result.
Regards,
Fiona
I decided to combine the two ideas for challenges! I did light trails with brightly colored artificial lights! :) It was so much fun working on, really kept me occupied for a long time!
Thanks so much for the challenge!
I just thought the little newly emerged Larch flower was getting advice from the older and much wiser pine cone that had been a youngster once.
I'm just thinking that the larch flower looks like a little cup cake!

I had to take Pixie to the vet last Monday as left eye kept weeping. It started the mid week last week: one day she was fine and then it the next day would be weepy agaiin. I bathed it with warm water. On Monday morning it was fine ....again but I still took her. Her tear duct was slightly blocked but the vet said there is nothing to worry about and that she had healthy eyes. Oh the vet also called her a tart: Pixie has a habit of sticking her bum in the air when she wants to be friends - lol
Happy Furry Friday.
Wishing you all a happy weekend.
I have to say I am enjoying this retirement malarkey. i love the fact that we can go out mid week without the crowds, so we tend to stay put at home these days, though I have to go out tomorrow morning for my third acupuncture treatment on my knee. So far, so good. After the first session, the swelling went down, though I still get pain at night in bed it isn't as bad as it was
This chick is beginning to get the hang of this flying thing, and it's my favorite Aerosmith album. (most of you won't get that)

These cows just kept getting closer and closer. It turned out they just wanted to show me their bums. Ah well.
