All the photos I present were taken in the town of Taormina;
I made photos related to "street photography";
I photographed people who, for the most part, I had never met before, performing their portraits, I thank them for their sympathy and availability;
The volcano Etna, in recent days has shown an intense eruptive activity, even with intense phenomena called "lava fountains", continuous jet emissions persisted intensely for many minutes, of very high "fountains" of incandescent magma, very spectacular and uncommon, in particular, which took place on 23-02 at night, it reached exceptional dimensions and heights; I photographed that spectacular eruptions using a telephoto lens, from Taormina; I photographed Jakub Rizman, an excellent harp player, who spread sweet notes throughout the main square of Taormina, creating a fairytale atmosphere (on YouTube I found some musical performances of him);
these are just a few minimal photographic stories, collected walking down the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...
For some photographs I used a particular photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production.

Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate nella cittadina di Taormina;
ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “street photography”;
ho fotografato persone che, per la maggior parte, non avevo incontrato prima, eseguendo dei loro ritratti, le ringrazio per la loro simpatia e disponibilità;
il vulcano Etna, nei giorni scorsi ha mostrato una intensa attività eruttiva, anche con intensi fenomeni chiamati "fontane di lava", emissioni a getto continuo perdurate intensamente per molti minuti, di altissime "fontane" di magma incandescente, molto spettacolari e non comuni, una in particolare, avvenuta il 23-02 di notte, ha raggiunto dimensioni e altezze eccezionali; ho fotografato da Taormina quelle spettacolari eruzioni, usando un teleobiettivo; ho fotografato Jakub Rizman, un eccellente suonatore d'arpa, che ha diffuso dolcissime note per tutta la piazza principale di Taormina, creando un'atmosfera da favola (su YouTube ho trovato alcune sue esibizioni musicali);
sono queste solo alcune storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando per la strada ... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ...
Ho utilizzato per alcune fotografie una tecnica fotografica particolare al momento dello scatto, che oltre a catturare lo spazio circostante, ha "inserito" anche una dimensione temporale, con foto caratterizzate dall’essere mosse poiché volutamente sono stati allungati i tempi di esposizione, sono confuse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste immagini sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.

Tre personaggi e un drappo rosso sullo sfondo: pochi elementi, in grado di orchestrare un vero e proprio teatro dei contrari. Buio e luce, vecchiaia e giovinezza, vita e morte, forza e fragilità.
Giuditta è un’eroina del Vecchio Testamento, una giovane vedova ebrea che salva il suo popolo dall’assedio dell’esercito assiro. Finge di volersi alleare con il nemico e uccide con le proprie mani il generale Oloferne, dopo essere stata accolta nell’accampamento con un fastoso banchetto.
Fin dal ‘400 è un’iconografia frequente, ma non era mai stata rappresentata con tale cruenta spettacolarità.
Qui la scimitarra è in pieno affondo, c’è energia nelle mani e negli arti contratti di Oloferne, ma ancora per poco. La bocca del generale è spalancata in un grido che sta per spegnersi, il fiotto di sangue non ha ancora esaurito il suo getto, come se Caravaggio avesse voluto bloccare gli istanti fulminei di un’azione, difficili da fermare con lo sguardo. La fonte di luce è collocata in alto a sinistra e investe per intero l’esile figura di Giuditta, con la fronte aggrottata, nello sforzo di richiamare a sé tutte le forze, fisiche e spirituali, per un gesto che compie suo malgrado. L’ancella Abra, che nel racconto originale è una giovane donna, diventa una vecchia dal volto rugoso e dagli occhi allucinati, spia dell’orrore che l’osservatore prova di fronte a una tale violenza. La tela, datata al 1599 circa, è importante da un punto di vista stilistico e tematico: è il primo vero quadro di storia di Caravaggio e inaugura la fase dei forti contrasti tra luce e ombra. Venne commissionato dal banchiere Ottavio Costa, che vi era affezionato a tal punto da pretendere nel proprio testamento la sua inalienabilità. Del dipinto, però, si persero le tracce per secoli, e venne ritrovato solo nel 1951 dal restauratore Pico Cellini, quasi per caso, presso la famiglia che ne era in possesso, e segnalato al critico Roberto Longhi. Un coup de théâtre in piena regola, consono alla teatralità del quadro. Venti anni dopo venne acquistato dallo Stato ed esposto a Palazzo Barberini.
Three figures with a red drape in the background: just a few elements, yet capable of orchestrating an utterly realistic theater of contrasts: darkness and light, age and youth, life and death, strength and frailty.
Judith is one of the heroines of the Old Testament, a young Jewish widow who saved her people from the besieging Assyrian army. She pretended to ally herself with the enemy and slew their general Holofernes with her own hands, after being welcomed to his camp with a festive banquet.
The iconography had been common since the 1400s, yet it had never been depicted with such harsh and spectacular realism.
Here we see scimitar plunged deep into Holofernes’ throat. Life is still coursing through Holofernes’ contracted hands and limbs, though not for much longer. The general’s mouth gapes in a strangled cry, and we see the spurting blood, as if Caravaggio wished to freeze the flashing instants of an act that cannot be halted with the gaze. The light falls from the top left, striking Judith’s slender figure in full: her forehead is furrowed, as if seeking to summon all her strength, both physical and spiritual, to overcome her revulsion at the act she feels compelled to perform. Her maidservant Abra, a young woman in the original story, is here a wrinkled old woman with hallucinated eyes, bearing witness to the horror that the viewer feels before such violence. The painting, dated to around 1599, is important stylistically and thematically: it is Caravaggio’s first historical work, and marks the beginning of the phase of strongly contrasting light and darkness. The work was commissioned by Ottavio Costa, a banker, who was so enamored of it that he stipulated its inalienability in his will. However, all trace of the painting was lost for several centuries and it was only found in 1951 by the restorer Pico Cellini, almost by chance, in the possession of a family and reported to the art critic Roberto Longhi – a dramatic turn of events highly appropriate to the theatrical nature of the painting. Twenty years later it was acquired by the Italian state and exhibited in Palazzo Barberini.

From time to time photography makes only sense to me if I follow a project - a serie of photos.
Two weeks ago there was this foggy day in my town Hamburg and this was the opportunity since I always wanted to do foggy shots.
I remember a photo of a guy here at Flickr who took a shot of a playground in front of skyscrapers at a foggy day. Unfortunately I can not find him here anymore but I want to follow his idea.
So here we go: my little PPbN serie is born

Lei ha risposto, di getto, il 14 febbraio 2011, San Valentino: festeggiava con Giacomo il sedicesimo anno di convivenza.
Insieme da 16 anni, per strada, a Milano.
I asked Rosaria which was the best day of her life. She immediately replied: "February 14th", Valentine's Day. On that day she celebrated the sixsteenth year together with Giacomo. Sixteen years toghether, homeless, in the streets of Milan.
Their everyday objects: cigarettes, free newspapers, plastic cups, coffee, old blankets, dirty clothes, cardboard boxed wine, a cold meal, a broken phone, plastic rings, a broken watch , a bag with backup dresses, two passes to get to the soup kitchen, a small radio.
Les salles de verdures sont agrémentés de termes de marbre blanc sculptés pour le château de Vaux-le-Vicomte d'après Nicolas Poussin et rachetés par Louis XIV aux héritiers de Nicolas Fouquet.
Au centre du bosquet se situe le bassin de la girandole dont le centre est occupé par des roseaux en fer d'où jaillit l'eau. Le bassin tire son nom de la forme particulière des effets hydraulique.
The green rooms are decorated with white marble terms sculpted for the castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte after Nicolas Poussin and purchased by Louis XIV from the heirs of Nicolas Fouquet.
In the center of the grove is the girandole basin, the center of which is occupied by iron reeds from which water springs. The basin takes its name from the particular shape of the hydraulic effects.

Italia, Piemonte, Sacra di San Michele, Estate 2016
La Sacra di San Michele è un complesso religioso sul monte Pirchiriano in Piemonte, Italia. L'abbazia, per gran parte della sua storia, è stata benedettina. Il libro “Il nome della rosa” è stato ispirato da questa monumentale abbazia. Secondo alcuni storici, in epoca romana esisteva una roccaforte militare nella posizione attuale dell'abbazia, che comandava la strada principale che portava in Gallia dall'Italia. Più tardi, dopo la caduta dell'Impero Romano d'Occidente, i Longobardi costruirono una fortezza qui contro le invasioni franche. Poco si sa dei primi anni dell'abbazia. Il più vecchio documento esistente è quello di un monaco, William, che visse qui nel tardo XI secolo e gettò le fondamenta dell'abbazia nel 966.
The Sacra di San Michele is a religious complex on Mount Pirchiriano in Piedmont, Italy. The abbey, for much of its history came under Benedictine rule. The book The Name of the Rose was inspired by this monumental abbey. According to some historians, in Roman times a military stronghold existed on the current location of the abbey, commanding the main road leading to Gaul from Italy. Later, after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the Lombards built a fortress here against the Frankish invasions. Little is known of the early years of the abbey. The oldest extant account is that of a monk, William, who lived here in the late 11th century and sat the foundation of the abbey in 966.
Shell ginger has pendulous flower spikes that emerge from the ends of the canes in spring and early summer. The foliage is an attractive dark, glossy green and is fragrant when brushed against or rubbed. The dried leaves make an excellent addition to potpourri.
Native to eastern Asia, this plant is a rhizomatous, evergreen tropical perennial that grows in upright clumps 8 to 10 ft (2.4 to 3.0 m) tall in tropical climates. It bears funnel-formed flowers. Flowers have white or pink perianths with yellow labella with red spots and stripes. There are three stamens, but only one has pollen. There is one pistil. The fruit is globose with many striations. In more typical conditions, it reaches 4 to 8 ft (1.2 to 2.4 m) feet tall in the green house, and 3 to 4 ft (0.91 to 1.22 m) feet tall, as a house plant.
It was originally called Alpinia speciosa, which was also the scientific name of torch ginger. To avoid the confusion, it was renamed as A. zerumbet while torch ginger was reclassified in the genus Etlingera.
In Japanese it is known as gettō' (ゲットウ). In Okinawan, it is known as sannin. In Chinese, it is known as yàn shānjiāng (艳山姜) or yuetao (月桃).

An impressive seascape from the southern tip of the Sicily island, in the heart of the Mediterrean sea. The boat was really dwarfed by the intense cloud-stream just above.

First test with the "getto light box". I was at sam's club the other day, and saw they sell these packing boxed (kind of like banker box) made with white translucent plastic. my head start spinning and thought.. hey i might be able to use it as a light box. so here's the result.

Aperture Academy Photography Workshops
This is Proxy Falls.
I don't really like this place very much. I mean, it's beautiful and all...and the first time you see it, it's awe inspiring. Heck, even the second and third time it gives you pause. Yet, when I think of Proxy Falls I really don't like it very much...
See, the first time I trekked here was in the spring. DUMB!
As I climbed to the bottom of the falls I quickly realized that shooting was going to be a big challenge...more challenging than any waterfall I'd photographed before.
First issue, MIST.
No, not mist...RAIN! The mist coming off this falls is so strong, it's more like rain. You are pretty much drenched within just a couple of minutes.
Second issue, COMPOSITION.
This place is humongous...enourmous, ginormous and every other-normous you can think of. To your eye it's just all stunning but through the camera it's tough (at least for me) to pull it all together into something that conveys the magnitude of the location.
So back to why I don't much care for Proxy Falls...this visit I'm recanting was in May. The falls was RAGING. It didn't take me long before I packed it up and left...tail between my legs, ego brused, temper flared up, irritation factor...11.
Proxy had won...this time.
As I drove away in disquist that a waterfall would treat me so poorly, I vowed to return. "I'll go back in the fall...the mist should be much less and the flow will be more manageable...ya, that's what I'll do..." I mumbbled to myself.
-- FLASH FORWARD TO FALL --
After 3 back-to-back Aperture Academy Workshops...Arches, then Grand Teton, then Yellowstone...on the way home I stopped by Proxy for...you guessed it, A REMATCH!
This time I had Scott Davis with me...friend, fellow photographer, Aperture Academy Instructor...he's in for a treat I tell him...this is gonna be easy...
NOT!
We make our way through the short hike in and down to the falls. Instantly I realize this isn't going to be easy. The flow is much less but the mist...it's still pretty bad!
SO...
I go into full on keep-my-lens-dry-mode by rubber-banding a Sham-Wow over the end of my lens...one of those disposable shower caps over my camera and I set out to find a comp. Yes, my camera looks getto, really getto, but I'm hell bent to shoot Proxy and get the hell out of there.
After a bit I'm having some success at keeping my lens dry...flapping my Sham-Wow up and down between exposures...then I switch spots with Scott only to find him irritated...the same kind of irritation and frustration I felt in the spring.
He's bent. I feel for him. I encourage him. It's not working.
Finally, we've both had enough and he proclaims "Proxy won this battle, but I'll win the war..." He declares to return someday...armed with a giant fan to blow the mist back... We laugh, sorta.
And away we went...Scott ready to come back and do battle again some day...me, wondering if I got anything I'd be happy with from this crusade.
So this is it. My "take" of Proxy Falls, Fall 2010.

Contarini fountain
La celebre fontana che fa bella mostra di se al centro di Piazza Vecchia in Bergamo alta, prende nome dal nobile veneziano Alvise Contarini. Per anni Podestà della città, il Contarini lasciando nel 1780 il suo incarico di Rettore per conto della Repubblica Serenissima, volle donare alla città una fontana, talmente bella perchè contribuisse veramente ad abbellire la città, prestigiosa decorazione ma allo stesso tempo funzionalmente capace di alleviare il dramma delle ricorrenti siccità.
La sfinge dalla quale esce un getto d'acqua che ricade nella conca non è originale: venne infatti sostituita nel secolo scorso per le pessime condizioni in cui era ridotta. Per realizzare la copia è stato utilizzato lo stesso tipo di marmo, sempre proveniente dalle cave della vicina Zandobbio.
The baroque fountain is similar to those seen in Venetian squares, as it was donated to the city by Alvise Contarini, who had been sent by Venice to be Podestà (administrator) for Bergamo.
Contarini’s parting gift to Bergamo at the end of his time in office in 1780 was practical as well as decorative. The water flowing from a spout in the mouth of the sphinx must have been a welcome relief for the local people during the frequent droughts being suffered by the city at the time.

The mural was created as part of the "Energy of the City" festival in Łódź dedicated to urban art and is part of the international project "Lost Giants". The work refers to the difficult past of Bałuty, where the Jewish Ghetto was located.

in cima al dipinto è rappresentato l'Arcangelo Michele con il suo scudo su cui batte un bagliore accecante che illumina i corpi dei dannati che cadono in un oscuro abisso, spinti da angeli caduti, rappresentati come diavoli.
Presentando i corpi nudi di donne e uomini, Rubens esprime la sua passione nel mostrare le varie forme anatomiche in ogni possibile angolazione e posa. Nella parte centrale si possono vedere figure obese con facce deformate i cui corpi vengono lacerati dalle bestie. Nella parte inferiore altri mostri e draghi si riuniscono per divorare i corpi dei dannati. I personaggi, sia per la loro anatomia sia per la posizione sono l'allegoria dei vari peccati.
A causa dello scandalo e delle controversie che causò questo dipinto, un vandalo vi gettò dell'acido, fortunatamente senza causare danni irreparabili.

Presenting the naked bodies of women and men, Rubens expresses his passion in showing the various anatomical shapes in every possible angle and pose. In the central part you can see obese figures with deformed faces whose bodies are torn by beasts. In the lower part other monsters and dragons gather to devour the bodies of the damned. The characters, both for their anatomy and for their position, are the allegory of various sins.
Because of the scandal and the controversies that caused this painting, a vandal threw acid into it, fortunately without causing irreparable damage.

La cascata Seljalandsfoss,una delle più belle cascate dell'Islanda sud occidentale.
Seljalandsfoss è una splendida cascata visibile anche dalla strada principale, ed è facilmente accessibile. L'acqua salta da una scarpata rocciosa e si tuffa in un piccolo laghetto. Si può anche passare dietro il getto della cascata camminando lungo un sentiero che passa vicino la roccia.

Ho chiesto a Rosaria quale fosse stato il più bel giorno della sua vita.
Lei ha risposto, di getto, il 14 febbraio 2011, San Valentino: festeggiava con Giacomo il sedicesimo anno di convivenza.
Insieme da 16 anni, per strada, a Milano.
Rosaria, 58 anni. Originaria di Napoli,una vita trascorsa a Milano. 3 figli ed un matrimonio finito.
Giacomo, nato a Milano nel dicembre del 1940. Un passato da musicista, da assessore comunale a Baggio, quartiere di origine. 5 figli.
I loro oggetti quotidiani: sigarette, giornali, bicchieri di plastica, caffè, vecchie coperte, vestiti sporchi, vino in cartone, un pasto freddo, un cellulare, anelli di plastica, un orologio rotto in finto oro, una borsa con il cambio, guanti bucati, due pass per accedere alla mensa dei poveri, una radiolina.
Oggetti comuni che scandiscono i ritmi di una vita al limite.

All the photos I present were taken in the town of Taormina;
I made photos related to "street photography";
I photographed people who, for the most part, I had never met before, performing their portraits, I thank them for their sympathy and availability;
The volcano Etna, in recent days has shown an intense eruptive activity, I photographed that spectacular eruptions from Taormina;
I tried to capture minimal photographic stories, collected walking down the street .. ... in search of fleeting moments ...
For some photographs I used a particular photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production.

Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate nella cittadina di Taormina;
ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “street photography”;
ho fotografato persone che, per la maggior parte, non avevo incontrato prima, eseguendo dei loro ritratti, le ringrazio per la loro simpatia e disponibilità;
il vulcano Etna, nei giorni scorsi ha mostrato una intensa attività eruttiva, anche con intensi fenomeni chiamati "fontane di lava", emissioni a getto continuo perdurate intensamente per molti minuti, di altissime "fontane" di magma incandescente, molto spettacolari e non comuni, le fotografie dell'Etna sono state realizzate da Taormina;
ho provato a cogliere storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando per la strada ... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ...
Ho utilizzato per alcune fotografie una tecnica fotografica particolare al momento dello scatto, che oltre a catturare lo spazio circostante, ha "inserito" anche una dimensione temporale, con foto caratterizzate dall’essere mosse poiché volutamente sono stati allungati i tempi di esposizione, sono confuse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste immagini sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.

Last Monday, an alert call from the local emergency health service 118 came to the emergency room, it was necessary to be ready, one person had drowned, the news had come that the rescuers were practicing external heart massage, and if all had gone at best, they would arrive in the ambulance with blaring sirens; everything is already set up to intubate together with the emergency drugs, the defibrillator is perfectly in order, the infusion and the aspirator of organic fluids (certainly mixed with sea water) are ready, visors, gloves, protective coats, protective masks for covid-19 are always worn in the hospital (in cases like these there will certainly not be time to swab for covid-19, this will certainly be done, but in a second time): time passes, a second lasts an eternity, too much time passes ... that patient will never arrive. The Mediterranean Sea is a sea that apparently could seem devoid of pitfalls, yet every year there is always someone who drowns in it: there are various causes, one is hydrocution syncope (once understood as "congestion") caused from entering the cold water and after eating (even drinking hot and quickly a frozen drink can lead to the same fatal consequences), then there is the stormy winter sea and, on the Ionian coast, there are also violent currents (the strait of Messina involves a narrowing both horizontally and vertically of the passage of water from the Ionian sea to the Tyrrhenian sea, and the other way around, waters pushed by the gravitational attraction exerted by the moon), then there is the dangerous "step" immediately beyond the shore (two meters from the water's edge, it immediately plunges into water where it is deep and it's no possible to touch the bottom). In the sea of Letojanni a boy lost his life who, to define a hero, is an understatement, his name was Pablo Pino, on 19 February '72 he jumped into the stormy winter waters to save three American sisters sucked by the waves while they were playing on the shore , he saved two, the youngest of eight years could not save her, but he did not leave her, he kept her afloat close to him, until his strength gave out, both disappeared forever among the waves. (I'll put a link, I talked about it some time ago).
In this group of photographs, there is a photo in which you can see a huge cloud: in reality that is not a normal cloud heralding some summer storm coming (many swimmers thinking that a storm was coming quickly they collected towels and umbrellas, leaving the beach in a hurry), but it is a gigantic cloud laden with ... volcanic ash: the Etna volcano plays these tricks from time to time, it is not uncommon that in a good weather, suddenly you have to equip yourself with umbrellas to protect yourself from a dense rain of volcanic ash.
All the photos I present were taken on the beaches of Taormina and its surroundings (Sicily-Italy); I made photos related to "beach photography" (a genre similar to "street photography");

I photographed young and old people ... with a great desire for the sea and a great desire to dive into the sea to swim (even if the sea water is still a little cold now ...); I made some photo-portraits of people I didn't know, I thank them very much for their sympathy and their availability; I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking along the beaches ... in search of fleeting moments ...

Lo scorso lunedì è giunta al pronto soccorso una chiamata di allerta da parte del servizio di emergenza sanitaria territoriale 118, occorreva tenersi pronti, una persona era annegata, era giunta la notizia che i soccorritori stavano praticando il massaggio cardiaco esterno, e se tutto fosse andato al meglio, sarebbero arrivati con l’ambulanza a sirene spiegate; tutto è già predisposto per intubare assieme ai farmaci dell’emergenza, il defibrillatore è perfettamente in ordine, la flebo e l’aspiratore dei fluidi organici (certamente misti all’acqua di mare) sono pronti, si indossano le visiere, i guanti, i camici protettivi, le mascherine protettive per il covid-19 sono sempre indossate in ospedale (in casi come questi i secondi contano quanto millenni, non ci sarà certo il tempo di fare il tampone per il covid-19, questo si farà certamente, ma in un secondo tempo): il tempo passa, un secondo dura un’eternità, passa troppo tempo….quel paziente non arriverà mai. Il mar Mediterraneo è un mare che in apparenza potrebbe sembrare privo di insidie, eppure ogni anno c’è sempre qualcuno che vi muore annegato: varie sono le cause, una è la sincope da idrocuzione (una volta era intesa come “congestione”) causata dall’entrare in acqua accaldati e dopo aver mangiato (anche bere accaldati e velocemente una bevanda gelata può portare alle stesse fatali conseguenze), c’è poi il mare invernale in tempesta e, sulla costa Ionica, ci sono anche violente correnti (lo stretto di Messina comporta un restringimento sia in senso orizzontale che in senso verticale del passaggio delle acque dal mare Ionio al mare Tirreno, acque sospinte dall’attrazione gravitazionale esercitata dalla luna), c’è poi lo “scalino” subito oltre il bagnasciuga (a due metri dal bagnasciuga si sprofonda immediatamente in acque dove non si tocca). Nel mare di Letojanni perse la vita un ragazzo che, definire eroe, è dire poco, il suo nome era Pablo Pino, il 19 febbraio del '72 si gettò nelle acque invernali in burrasca per salvare tre sorelline americane risucchiate dalle onde mentre giocavano sul bagnasciuga, ne salvò due, la più piccola di otto anni non riuscì a salvarla, ma non la lasciò, la tenne a galla stretta a se, fino a quando le forze non gli cedettero, scomparirono entrambi per sempre tra i flutti. (metterò un link, ne ho parlato tempo fa).
In questo gruppo di fotografie, c’è una foto nella quale si vede una enorme nuvola: in realtà quella non è una normale nuvola foriera di qualche buriana estiva in arrivo (tantissimi bagnanti pensando che stesse arrivando un temporale raccolsero velocemente asciugamani ed ombrelloni, lasciando la spiaggia in tutta fretta), ma è una gigantesca nuvola carica di …cenere vulcanica: il vulcano Etna gioca di tanto in tanto di questi scherzi, non è raro che in pieno bel tempo improvvisamente ci si debba munire di ombrelli per proteggersi da una fitta pioggia di cenere vulcanica.
Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate sulle spiagge di Taormina e dintorni (Sicilia-Italia); ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “beach photography” (un genere affine alla “street photography”);
ho fotografato persone giovani e meno giovani…con tanta voglia di mare e tanta voglia di immergersi in mare per fare qualche nuotata (anche se l’acqua del mare adesso è ancora un po’ fredda…); ho realizzato dei foto-ritratti di persone che non conoscevo, le ringrazio veramente tanto per la loro simpatia e la loro disponibilità; ho cercato di cogliere al volo l’essenza di storie fotografiche minime, raccolte camminando per sulle spiagge... alla ricerca di attimi fugaci s-fuggenti ...
