The 19,410-acre Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness is 120 miles southeast of Phoenix, Arizona in Graham and Pinal counties. The wilderness includes the 11-mile long Aravaipa Canyon, as well as, the surrounding tablelands and nine side canyons. Within the colorful 1,000-foot canyon walls, outstanding scenery, wildlife, and rich history are all protected. Seven species of native desert fish, desert bighorn sheep, and over 200 species of birds live among shady cottonwoods along the perennial waters of Aravaipa Creek. (BLM Photo by Bob Wick)
Hundred-year-old steel railroad bridges cross the Susan River 12 times along the length of the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail. The Bizz Johnson Trail is a converted rail line extending 25 miles between the communities of Susanville and Westwood. The route is gravel with gentle grades ideal for family mountain bike outings. The trail parallels the Susan River and passes through pine forests.

A 4 day 3 night back in Unit 11, 12, 13 in Denali National Park. An amazing location and great spot for trail-less wilderness.
Fort Sage Special Recreation Management Area is located in the high desert region of northeastern California, about 45 miles north of Reno, Nevada. The recreation area consists of approximately 22,000 acres of public land that is managed primarily for off-highway vehicle use and winter deer range. Vehicle use within the recreation area is limited to designated roads and trails to ensure that the two primary uses remain compatible throughout the future.
The BLM has designated the approximately 90 miles of routes within the recreation area to be used for motorcycle, ATV and 4wd use depending on the width of the trail. The routes traverse a wide variety of terrain including flat, sandy, high desert sagebrush country and rocky, steep canyons and gulches.

travelsmind: I like it
Deep in the Utah "Grand Gulch" Area, Road Canyon cuts through the high desert. On a remote arm of rock, these unmarked ruins from roughly 1000 years ago cling to a narrow ledge on a cliff. The scenery is dramatic, the canyon sublime, and being able to get to these seldom seen ruins - priceless.

bushcraftturk: Thanks
elfstreamdream: Looks awesome - only works on fairweather day outings (small get wet pack and small heavy canteen). The vintage canteen (when filled) does make a good discreet personal protection tool. Still fun to see, thanks.
howtoscout: Majestic!

I like to photo wildlife by placing in them in their environment and circumstances so that the animal is seen as part of where they live.
This billy did not offer that opportunity. He is full on front and center and Kim and I had only narrowly got out of his way!
We had seen him coming up a steep slope and were head down finding (in Kim 's pack) my 70-200 lens and installing it. Looking up he was already at our level and heading directly to us on "our" trail. With his head bobbing we knew he was agitated and we quickly decided it wasn't our trail.
Getting off to one side I and started snapping pictures which stopped and seemed to further agitate him. We got further away!
