The flowers are so vibrant. This is such a good hardy geranium, very like Anne Folkard, with golden foliage in spring and masses of these bright magenta flowers from now until the frosts.

In Duitsland werd de plant vroeger ook wel Göttesgnade genoemd. In Scandinavië staat Beemdooievaarsbek bekend als 'Odins-genade' of 'Odinsbloem'. Op IJsland werd uit de wortels een blauwe kleurstof gewonnen, waarmee de mantels werden geverfd van de IJslandse helden.
