My X-factor geranium. An unknown hybrid zonal geranium has appeared on the balcony from a cutting that I put in a pot of premium potting mix from Bunnings, some months ago now. Its origins remain a mystery. So I am calling it my noir geranium, or simply, 'The Geranium In the Pot'.
Cheers - I am off now to the September meeting of the Australian Geranium Society at Turramurra, northern Sydney.

I have a lot of geraniums in my garden. I know people who do not find them pretty or even appealing, but they have a special place in my heart. The geranium in this picture is my oldest geranium. I had it for probably 20+ years. It is such a great and resilient plant with blooms popping on all though the year in our warm climate. It does need that much water and most of them love sun that we have plenty of. What is not to love?

Pelargonium sp. (geranium / geranio)
There are about 250 different species of pelargoniums and hundreds of newer cultivars. Most of these species are indigenous to South Africa, and are found mainly - although not exclusively - along the east and west coasts and the Cape peninsula.

It doesnt fly, its not an insect ... just a simple flower, just for a change for me!!
Grow these in your garden, bees love em. They can be split and replanted where ever you want and come back every year .

These wild flowers have multiplied nicely in my backyard. Somewhat a success story.

Also known as Cranesbill because of it's beak like seed capsule.
Notice the oak tree catkins on the leaves. I have never seen so many of these before. They are everywhere!
"A single oak tree produces both male and female flowers. The male flowers are tiny yellow structures that grow along a slender stalk. The stalked structure is called a catkin. The stalk with its flowers looks a bit like a yellow worm dangling from the tips of the oak branches. The female flowers are small pink to red structures that are also located near the twig tip. The male flowers produce pollen which is carried by wind to female flowers, often on a different tree. The amount of pollen produced by a large oak tree is enormous and the flowers continue producing pollen for several weeks. Unlike flowers that are pollinated by bees or other animals, the pollen of oaks floats freely in the air and is inhaled by people. Many people are allergic to oak pollen and the large amounts and long duration of oak pollen production can make oaks one of the more serious spring allergens."

Unfortunately, I am one of those with an allergy to oak pollen.
