Got this cutie 2010-06-28, her weight is about 30kg :-)

Originally planned to have watercooling but didn't notice I had forgotten to order that until I unpacked the machine....but apparantly the INTEL cooling block that came with the 980X CPU is one of the top-performers so I'll stick with that.

Was worried that the fan-pack that came with the memory-kit would block the CPU airflow but it seems to stay cool.

I recently put together these parts for a high end i7 1155 PC build. My firend John did a great job putting everything together.

Just finished my first computer build which I have named "Land of the Ryzen Sun" the inspired by my favorite travel destination Kyoto where traditional and modern Japan collide.

The computer will mostly be used for video and photo editing. Everything worked well from beginning to end of the build process. The BeQuiet! 500dx computer case had plenty of space to work in and has a very clean minimalist look to it.

List of Parts:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor

Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler

MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard

Team T-FORCE DARK Z 32 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Seagate FireCuda 520 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive

Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB GAMING Video Card

be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower Case

EVGA 550 W ATX Power Supply

Noctua NF-F12 PWM chromax.black.swap 54.97 CFM 120 mm Fan

Future plans:

I would like to upgrade to one of the newer graphics cards that just came out. I ended up reusing a Zotac 1660 from my previous computer to test and see if it would run better with a better processor since Adobe Premiere tends to be CPU hungry (my previous processor was an I7-7700 with 32gb of ram). Even though it does run noticeable smoother with the Ryzen 9 3900x, it's still not where I want it to be once I start color grading 4K footage. Lastly I would like to add another nvme drive and a modular power supply to clean up the wires on the backside.

Interior view of the ASUS Terminator barebone computer. The fan in the middle is for the motherboard, the case fan is to the left on the read edge. The power connector is to the right. The part to the right swings to the left, and is secured by a screw above the power connector and at the top of the rear.

Rumor mill: Nvidia’s highly-anticipated GeForce event is just around the corner. It’s scheduled for September 1, and if the teases and leaks we’ve seen so far are accurate, it will finally bring the grand reveal of Nvidia’s RTX 30-series GPUs. However, it seems we won’t have to wait until the event to know what to […]

Goold old times. That dusty little sucker cost a little fortune when it was brand new many years ago. A fortune I was willing to pay. Nowadays you can find it for $1 on eBay... *sigh*

A week after I bought this GeForce FX 5900XT on eBay, its fan failed and I installed this monstrosity in its place--the NV Silencer 3 from Arctic Cooling.

I was very satisfied with this thing at first. It really was quiet, and it ejects hot air out of the back of the PC, improving cooling overall. But after about six months, it started groaning loudly every time I turned it on, and finally going quiet after a minute or two. Oiling the fan bearing solved the problem--for a few weeks. Then the problem came back with a vengeance. I oiled the bearing again today, and it's quiet again, who knows for how long. It wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't have to take the cooler off to get to the bearing, then reapply the heatsink goop and reinstall the cooler.

In any event, I've decided my next video card will have passive cooling.

Installed my new Geforce GTX 970 graphics card tonight. Nice upgrade from my 660. Checked out Dragon Age: Inquisition and was getting buttery smooth frame rates on ultra settings. This must be what automotive junkies feel like when they make modifications to their car.
