I was fortunate enough to actually watch this lock (in Marseilles, IL) in action. Once it was finally full and the gates opened, I was amazed at their ability to move this barge through the space. It looked like a matter of a couple of inches either way and it would take out the lock walls.
Just as I was about to give up and go home on the last day McNaught would be visible, it showed up right above the Golden Gate Bridge.
