This pic of Pontypool park gates on 11/11 was taken through the bus window. It's been skewed to try and sraighten it a bit, the levels have been adjusted and the reds made a bit redder before flattening all the layers.
Installed in 1920 to commemorate the town's dead of World War I, with other plaques subsequently added for those who died in WWII.

In my old job, I would have been concentrating on how many seconds it took for the train to reach the crossing after the warning bell started ringing. Now I can concentrate on composition, and timing of the exposure.

You can't go very far on the old East Belt / West Belt connector without hitting a private gate. Very few customers there ship by train now and the fence and gates secure the properties. This gate is at 9th Street looking east. There are several more like this west of here. I believe the farthest west connection here is J.L. Clark which is east of Kishwaukee Street. The Belt no longer crosses Kishwaukee Street.
Somewhere in Berlin, Sunday morning before I head back to Denmark. I can't remember the name of the gate. There is a flea market around this gate.

I thought you might like to join me on my walk into Dover yesterday. So I took a few shots as I stomped into town along the cliffs.
This is about 5 minutes from our house, down at the bottom of the hill looking across Station Road and the field of what we think is maize to the old radar stations of RAF Swingate near the castle.

I went with a crutch to walk in a great weather, almost back, when I took these pictures near the back gate.
Day 1, Morning South gate - a 20 meter-high gate crowned by 4 stone faces and bordered by a double row of 54 stone figures carrying a huge Naga serpent.
The gates at the South Gare Marine Club lead out to the slipway at Paddy's Hole. I can't recall ever seeing them open.

One of the gates of the former walled city of Lille.
Originally the Reneau Gate and then the St Maurice Gate, the Roubaix Gate was built by master masons Michel Watrelos and Jean Lesur in 1620.
The gate was given two side arches in 1875 to allow trams to pass through. It was completely renovated to mark the Lille 2004 City of Culture. .
