This pic of Pontypool park gates on 11/11 was taken through the bus window. It's been skewed to try and sraighten it a bit, the levels have been adjusted and the reds made a bit redder before flattening all the layers.

The gates were merely sections of fence attached by a wire or some string. We had to untie and retie every one.

I was quite taken with the Cloud Gate sculpture in Chicago Millenium Park. When you walk underneath the distorted reflections are wonderful. Apparently, this part is named the Omphalos.
The gate lodge is the entrance to Renville Demnise home of the Athy family. In the 1850's Griffith's valuation put a value of £48 on the estate. All that remains today is the lodge and the ivy covered ruins of the house. The house only consists of a shell but has a very fine stone portico. its a pity that the people responsible for the park land have plaque of any information on the 18th century house for shame!. What is it with us Irish we seem to have no interest on our built heritage that has no connection with celts, medieval castles (by the way most are not castles but fortified tower houses) churches and dare i say lepracauns shamrocks and other hackneyed symbols of Ireland. RANT OVER.... O ya i gave the pic a 19th century look in keeping with the theme of the building

Hey. So it been a while since I last posted anything. Like I said in my "➹Don't look down..." post, the summer has come to a close and now I am back in school. Although its a drag to have to do school work, seeing everyone again was a pleasant "welcome back to school" experience. My posting of photos may have slowed but I'll try and keep some creative gears turing so that my mind survives the monotony of AP Government lectures. haha. =]
The "30 Secrets in 30 Days" grouped seem like an interesting one when i came across it in Charlotte's photostream. She is very talented and you might want to go check out her site. I don't know if I can honestly tell 30 secrets about myself so I think I'll just tell you things about myself that you may not have known previously.
On Monday me and some of the members of the Venice High golf team got to play in a golf tournament at Mountain Gate Country Club in the Santa Monica Mountains right outside of Los Angeles. The Team to Win Foundation sponsored us to play in the tournament. Team to Win helps student athletes in the LA area get the the medical treatment that they need if injured playing sports for their school, even if the students can't afford some of the pricey examinations. Its a great foundation working for a noble cause. Thanks to all those who supported Team to Win!
The gates at the South Gare Marine Club lead out to the slipway at Paddy's Hole. I can't recall ever seeing them open.

One of the gates of the former walled city of Lille.
Originally the Reneau Gate and then the St Maurice Gate, the Roubaix Gate was built by master masons Michel Watrelos and Jean Lesur in 1620.
The gate was given two side arches in 1875 to allow trams to pass through. It was completely renovated to mark the Lille 2004 City of Culture. .
