The historic north west gates of Perth Oval (or NIB Stadium as it's currently known). Constructed in 1932 and a well known landmark.
The Tori gates at a temple create a special atmosphere. Just by seeing them
you know that you are going into some place very unique and very special.
You don’t need to be told to be on your best manners and to show your
utmost respect when you see something like this. These gates are a
non-verbal message that what you are about to enter is something bigger
than yourself.
The Pile Gate has for centuries been the main entrance to the town of Dubrovnik. The name is said to come from the Greek word "pyle" which itself means "gate".
The outer gate, dating back to 1537, is approached over a bridge across a protective moat, and is further defended by a drawbridge.
Until the conquest of Ragusa by Napoleon's armies and abolition of the Republic of Ragusa, the wooden drawbridge to the Pile Gate was hoisted each night with considerable pomp in a ceremony which delivered the city's keys to the Rector of the Republic.
Both the two leaves of the gate itself and drawbridge are still functional and part of the mechanism for raising the bridge can been seen in the photograph.
The Powder Tower or Powder Gate (Czech: Prašná brána) is a Gothic tower in Prague, Czech Republic. It is one of the original city gates, dating back to the 11th century. It is one of the symbols of Prague, leading into the Old Town.
The gate was used to store gunpowder in the 17th century, hence the name Powder Tower or Powder Gate. The gate suffered considerable damage during the Battle of Prague. The sculptures on the tower were replaced in 1876.

The gate stands near the eastern portal of South Willingham tunnel on the old Louth to Bardney line. The line first opened to traffic in 1875 and finally closed in 1960.
This gate on Banks Street is like a "back door" to St. Patrick #1. I used to visit the cemetery primarily through this gate, but I can't now. It used to be open daily, but now it's locked all the time. The gate around the corner at Bernadotte & Palmyra is still opened on a regular basis, and the front gate of course, but not this one. I wonder what's up.
It's always fun watching the different ways people exit this cave. I went for the Chuck technique too but I don't think anyone caught that on film! ;)

One of the gates of the Rocca Ariostesca (Ariosto's Castle), in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. The castle dates back to the 12th century and was enlarged by Castruccio Castracani in the following year. It takes its name from the Italian poet, who resided here in 1522-1525 when he was governor of the Garfagnana for the House of Este.

Some festival must have ended because all booths were going to be taken down. Only the gate was still standing.
This turned into a timed drawing. During allergy season I can only stay outside for about 30 minutes before I start sneezing.
I worked in Brushes starting with a quick line drawing. I then added color in two layers underneath the line layer - one for the colors behind the gate and one for everything else.
It's hard to draw on the iPad outside. Even sitting in the shade there is so much reflection on the screen that it's hard to judge color and values.
