Geunjeongmun Gate at Gyeongbokgung in Seoul, Korea
Gyeongbokgung, also known as Gyeongbokgung Palace or Gyeongbok Palace, was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. Built in 1395, it is located in northern Seoul, South Korea. The largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon dynasty, Gyeongbokgung served as the home of Kings of the Joseon dynasty, the Kings' households, as well as the government of Joseon.
Gyeongbokgung continued to serve as the main palace of the Joseon dynasty until the premises were destroyed by fire during the Imjin War and abandoned for two centuries. However, in the 19th century, all of the palace's 7,700 rooms were later restored under the leadership of Prince Regent Heungseon during the reign of King Gojong. Some 500 buildings were restored on a site of over 40 hectares. The architectural principles of ancient Korea were incorporated into the tradition and appearance of the Joseon royal court.
In the early 20th century, much of the palace was systematically destroyed by Imperial Japan. Since then, the walled palace complex is gradually being reconstructed to its original form. Today, the palace is arguably regarded as being the most beautiful and grandest of all five palaces. It also houses the National Palace Museum of Korea and the National Folk Museum within the premises of the complex.
A set of gates to All Saints Primary School, Waddington. The gates were designed and made by Richard Bett. The design was inspired by one of the most important people to have lived in Waddington - George Boole. Boole invented Boolean Logic, the digital language of computers, and these shapes are how logic gates are shown on an electronic schematic.
lord, a moment?
yes, archangel? what is it?
a housekeeping matter, lord. the gates.
what about them?
they are in need of a little work, I'm afraid.
what do you mean? they've served for millenia.
exactly, lord. they are getting a little. . . worn.
well, many souls have passed through them.
yes, you have been very generous about that.
what, you think I should up my standards?
well, you let all those hippies in. like every single one.
that's because hippies were my greatest creation.
yes, yes, as you've told me many times.
they were a new life form on earth. but nobody appreciated them.
well, anyway, the gates?
if they need work, then see to it. that's your job.
but who should I get to do it?
how about that architect, gaudi?
gaudi? really lord?
sagrada familia. good stuff. do it.
it's your call, lord.
damn right, archangel.

The Meridian gate serves as the main entrance gate to the Imperial City of Hue. In front is the moat that surrounds the Imperial City, which was modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing, with many Chinese influences throughout.
The Imperial City, inside the Citadel, was constructed in 1803 under Emperor Gia Long as a new capital. It mostly served a ceremonial function during the French colonial period and was heavily damaged during the Vietnam war. The Meridian gate is one of the structures miraculously spared from the intense bombing during the Tet offensive in 1968.
The Imperial City was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

Sure… locks work and burglar alarms help, but if you really want to deter intruders we recommend you get yourself a polar bear.
You might need a good lawyer too, but rest assured a hungry, rolling pin wielding, slightly irritable, giant bear does wonders for your home security.
Just make sure you don't forget the secret password, or to pay her!
