The gates are closed, they are closed because of a danger to life. Most accept this, but a few believe it is fake news, authoritarianism, an attack on their freedom or a conspiracy theory. It is not, beyond these gates there is a storm, it is easy to see, there is overwhelming evidence to this fact. Circumventing these gates will only put you and others in danger. You can disagree with this, it is your prerogative, but keep it to yourself you don’t want to look like a fool.

"No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith.”

― R.A. Salvatore

I don't know where it leads yet ... but every trip down this road has been interesting. Happy Fence Friday

The Brandenburg Gate is one of the most iconic sights in today’s vibrant Berlin. More than just Berlin’s only surviving historical city gate, this site came to symbolise Berlin’s Cold War division into East and West – and, since the fall of the Wall, a reunified Germany. Architecturally, the sandstone Brandenburg Gate also represents one of the earliest and most attractive examples of a neo-classical building in Germany.

The Lion Gate was the main entrance of the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae, southern Greece. It was erected during the 13th century BC, around 1250 BC in the northwest side of the acropolis and is named after the relief sculpture of two lionesses or lions in a heraldic pose that stands above the entrance.

The Lion Gate is the sole surviving monumental piece of Mycenaean sculpture, as well as the largest sculpture in the prehistoric Aegean. It is the only monument of Bronze Age Greece to bear an iconographic motif that survived without being buried underground, and the only relief image which was described in the literature of classical antiquity, such that it was well known prior to modern archaeology. The Victoria Gate shopping centre in Leeds, England, was built in 2016 and forms part of the Victoria Leeds shopping district. The facade of the car park comprises many strips of stainless steel that have been meticulously twisted to create a beautiful pattern as the sunlight reflects off them - this pattern is a continuation of the design theme used throughout the building exterior.

We have been to Hull today to see the Grandson in his new University environment. Three and half hours there, three and a half hours back - and lunch with a very tired, slightly hung over, boy who is trying to discover how far he can go and come out whole!! He's doing Ok!

Had to cross the street and take this shot. More dogs barking at me at their gate. I had another shot like this of other dogs recently. This would have been good for "Big versus Small" on the past Crazy Tuesday!

Rainy day at the SF Bay

I was talking via comments to someone about photo's even old ones being memories laid down using photography. this is a case in point that as you can see was taking in 2010...It bought memories of that day flooding back and i even remembered where we parked and going through the kissing gate (grabbing a kiss of course :) and walking up to that church. My late husband would have been aged 61 yrs and still in good health then. I don't shy away from memories ever..and finding this among the lost folders hidden on my hard drive bought with it many happy memories..Sue..

Unlike Australia, almost every house in Malaysia has a secure gate and barred windows. Mind you, my family never experienced any breakins, but I guess that was due to the precautions taken by my parents.

Another foggy morning drive in the country. I almost missed this because I noticed it while in a curve in the road. Sometimes we capture images and notice the tiny details after the fact like the gate in this image.

Thanks for stopping by

The Brandenburg Gate (German: Brandenburger Tor) is an 18th-century neoclassical triumphal arch in Berlin, and one of the best-known landmarks of Germany. It is built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel. During the post-war Partition of Germany, the gate was isolated and inaccessible immediately next to the Berlin Wall, and the area around the gate was featured most prominently in the media coverage of the tearing down of the wall in 1989.

Let me know if this information is incorrect, or if you have any details to add regarding this gorgeous location.

The Brandenburg Gate (German: Brandenburger Tor is an 18th-century neoclassical monument in Berlin, built on the orders of Prussian king Frederick William II after restoring the Orangist power by suppressing the Dutch popular unrest. One of the best-known landmarks of Germany, it was built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, which used to be the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg.

It is located in the western part of the city centre of Berlin within Mitte, at the junction of Unter den Linden and Ebertstraße, immediately west of the Pariser Platz. One block to the north stands the Reichstag building, which houses the German parliament (Bundestag). The gate is the monumental entry to Unter den Linden, a boulevard of linden trees which led directly to the royal City Palace of the Prussian monarchs.

Throughout its existence, the Brandenburg Gate was often a site for major historical events and is today considered not only as a symbol of the tumultuous histories of Germany and Europe, but also of European unity and peace.

Gates can mean different things depending on how you look at them.

A gate can represent a threshold or a boundary between two states of being or two different worlds.

Beyond architectural aspect; doors, gates, arches all represent transitioning from one place to another.
