The entrance of the old mosque of El Mansourah. The mosque has 13 gates, this one is the main. The Mansurah mosque was built around 1303 by Sultan Abu Yacoub.

Hell's Gate is an abrupt narrowing of British Columbia's Fraser River, located immediately downstream of Boston Bar in the southern Fraser Canyon. The towering rock walls of the Fraser River plunge toward each other forcing the waters through a passage only 35 metres wide.
A gentle spring breeze is slowly melting the ice and snow, transforming the Gates of Memories into the Gates of Dreams.
I'd like to thank everybody who visited Gates of Memories, shared their pictures, blogposts and video's. Thank you for your art, your words, your donations but most of all for making the place special.
The Gates will be under construction while I work on transforming it into Gates of Dreams.

Gwanghwamun Gate is the largest entrance to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, located in Seoul, South Korea. Constructed in 1395, this was the main residence for royals during the Joseon Dynasty. The location on a major three-way intersection makes Gwanghwamun Gate amazing to capture at night. This particular photograph was taken right after sunset with a fading blue sky for the backdrop. Since the exposure lasts many seconds, you can see streaks running across the picture which is cars and buses.
I was wandering home down a country lane when this very red sun caught the corner of my eye as it crept down to sleep behind this gate - it has a nest there .....
There's a humpback whale in the sky too.......

This passage thru this wall is also called the Sinclair Canyon Falls, It is one of the first visual rewards and clues of the beauty ahead when entering BC's Kootenay National Park from Radium Hot Springs BC.
Hwy 93 (Banff-Windermere hwy) barely squeezes thru this tight chasm. An engineering marvel, and thrill when seeing and driving thru it.
This is the western entrance to the park which leads to Banff National Park. My preferred route. Spectacular scenery in every direction ahead.

The Historic Friar Gate Bridge in Derby. It was built by Andrew Handyside & Co and was part of the western extension of the Great Northern Railway and opened in 1878.
Derby City Council has put aside cash to give it a makeover. The bridge will benefit from work costing £260,000 over the next 12 months, including a paint job.

Vehicle access is stopped by this gate on the River Lea access path in Edmonton.
I don't know how anyone slept on the narrowboats; just across the river to the right an all night party was held in a disused building and the music could be heard for miles around.
I have to thank Anita for the gate! Sitting on the opposite side of the car I did not at first see it, but as she was composing her shot she muttered something about getting the gate in.... LOL anyway I managed to get the gate in while twisting myself into a pretzel shape so I could shoot past her and through the car window. Pretty pleased with the results!

The gates are closed, they are closed because of a danger to life. Most accept this, but a few believe it is fake news, authoritarianism, an attack on their freedom or a conspiracy theory. It is not, beyond these gates there is a storm, it is easy to see, there is overwhelming evidence to this fact. Circumventing these gates will only put you and others in danger. You can disagree with this, it is your prerogative, but keep it to yourself you don’t want to look like a fool.
The Brandenburg Gate is one of the most iconic sights in today’s vibrant Berlin. More than just Berlin’s only surviving historical city gate, this site came to symbolise Berlin’s Cold War division into East and West – and, since the fall of the Wall, a reunified Germany. Architecturally, the sandstone Brandenburg Gate also represents one of the earliest and most attractive examples of a neo-classical building in Germany.

The Lion Gate was the main entrance of the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae, southern Greece. It was erected during the 13th century BC, around 1250 BC in the northwest side of the acropolis and is named after the relief sculpture of two lionesses or lions in a heraldic pose that stands above the entrance.
The Lion Gate is the sole surviving monumental piece of Mycenaean sculpture, as well as the largest sculpture in the prehistoric Aegean. It is the only monument of Bronze Age Greece to bear an iconographic motif that survived without being buried underground, and the only relief image which was described in the literature of classical antiquity, such that it was well known prior to modern archaeology.
