This was taken on the beaches near Golden Gate Promenade in San Francisco, specifically at 9:24pm just after the sun dipped past the mountains behind the bridge.
Bring a tripod and camp out a spot around 8pm so you can catch the full sunset. Wait until the lights on the bridge light up to give it the golden color!

Golden Gate
The Golden Gate is a monument of defensive and sacred architecture of Kyivan Rus and is considered one of the oldest buildings in Eastern Europe.
It was erected in the first half of the 11th century and named after the Golden Gate in Constantinople, it served as the main entrance to Kyiv and was the only stone gate in the city’s fortification system. It was a battle tower with a passage crowned by the Annunciation Gateway Church.
I took a ride on the "Adventure Cat," a catamaran that gives tourists ride out beyond the Golden Gate Bridge and back. A great alternative to the ferries; small (maybe 25 people tops?), wind powered, just delightful in every respect.
$25 for an hour and a half ride, $12 for kids; children under five ride free.
They sail out of Pier 39, and will be open until about December 1.

In a city full of temples, Sensoji is the oldest, boasting almost one and a half millennia of history. It features Tokyo’s biggest souvenir market, as well as perhaps the gaudiest rendezvous point—its Kaminarimon Gate with the huge red chochin lantern.

"Geminids at Gates Pass"
What an incredible show we had here! I was able to see about 50 per hour.
Here is a composite image of about 30 frames from a time-lapse I shot of the Geminid Meteor shower at Gates Pass in Tucson, Arizona on the morning of 12-13-12. You can see M31 (Andromeda Galaxy 2.5million light years away) at the left next to the Milky way.
This image took a lot of work as I had to scroll through about 400 frames and find which frames had shooting stars in them, then cut out every meteor and blend.

This gate on Laugavegur was open, providing a nice frame for this bit of graffiti and wall art. Taken on a final stroll through that part of Reykjavik before our bus took us back to the airport. Our two weeks in Scandinavia were over -- we were going back to Boston.

Looking northwest in the northwest part of town. Anyone know which gate this one is? Near the White Buddha.
Installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art entitled "May the Arrogant Not Prevail" by Michael Rakowitz. It is constructed of found Arabic packaging and newspaper, glue, cardboard, and wood. It depicts the Ishtar Gate of Babylon.
The Ishtar Gate was the eighth gate to the inner city of Babylon. It was constructed in about 575 BCE by order of King Nebuchadnezzar II on the north side of the city. It was excavated in the early 20th century and a reconstruction using original bricks, completed in 1930, is now shown in the Pergamon Museum, Berlin.
Florence Baptistery - In 1425 Lorenzo Ghiberti got a commission for the East Doors of the baptistry, on which he and his workshop toiled for 27 years, excelling themselves.These doors have ten panels depicting scenes from the Old Testament, he employed the recently discovered principles of perspective to give depth to his compositions.The 10 panels are included in a richly decorated gilt framework of foliage and fruit, many statuettes of prophets and 24 busts. Michelangelo referred to these doors as fit to be the "Gates of Paradise"

The Broad Gate is 13th century. Its original purpose was military - there was a portcullis, and on this side of it, there was a ditch with a drawbridge. I rather like the elegant bay windows on the left hand tower
In Lower Broad Street in Ludlow, the inhabitants had made a real effort to have beautiful arrays of spring flowers in pots out on the pavement in front of their houses. It was so attractive - see photos in the comments.
