I'm very conflicted about this moc. On the one hand it turned out pretty well shape wise, and the shoulder buttons look great. On the other hand the d-pad is to large there are no start or select buttons and the blue bit in front of the shoulder buttons curves the wrong way. I will probably try to update this model in the future, but I don't know.

My old Gameboy Pocket with friends (3DS, DS lite, Advance SP)

Built this today in about two hours or so and I have to say this was a really fun build filled with SNOT. This MOC is by no means perfect and I'm not a 100% satisfied with the screen area. The problems in this moc are no ports, dials, or switches on the side, no cartridge slot, and the screen area. I will fix most of these once I get the pieces I need. www.youtube.com/user/5793productions

Such an iconic design. I think it may be my all-time favorite handheld in terms of design. (The DS Lite and PC Engine LT are right up there, though.)
Anyway, for a bit more on this particular GameBoy, check out this recent blog post: www.thegaygamer.com/2012/04/from-back-of-my-boyhood-close...

I bought a cheap Chinese replacement case just to get a feel of the design, but ended up also getting the real deal. Would like a Skeleton/Famitsu version. I think the GBP design is the best looking of the bunch, with 80's Volvo/Walkman vibes. The speaker hole design feels a bit too noisy though. If Nintendo ever re-releases a GB, with a better screen, maybe this should be the one.
The console who got the most games!
I went to boarding school with pupil homes where we did not want to bring our hardware because of the "fair sharing policy" of the TV (hardware abuse/breaking by stupid kids which we could not forbid because of the fair sharing) so handhelds were good choice!
And the games were cheaper too. :)
You know the classic "blowing the cartridge to get it to work" issue? I almost never get that issue with my NES, but on my Gameboy.. oh so often... The Nintendo logo got pixellated when it is malfunctioning... And it was more prone because of the handheld nature - bouncing around in bags.. ;)
Qix, Centipede/Millipede and Dr Mario I bought as used games after the "death" of Gameboy. But not really comparable because I could play them on GBA, thanks for back compatibility!
I also should have Mega Man III but it is gone, probably stolen at the school home or "dorm" or borrowed to never return. It was confirmed when I found the box for that game. I thought I had dreamed up that I owned that game. ;)
I’m pretty surprised I haven’t done a drawing that has paid respects to Gameboy yet? I also have to be completely honest: when I originally finished this piece it was missing Contra. Leaving Contra out of best game lists definitely has to break some kind of geek law out there, but luckily I noticed and added it in. These are some of the games that shaped my youth, hopefully I’m not missing any of my other favorites. Although I am showing the original Gameboy, some of the titles came out on Gameboy Advance and I just couldn’t leave them out.
Another way to have your own handheld video game device in your pocket.

I finally managed to get a Gameboy Micro, so naturally I built it out of Legos. I did not realize how ridiculously tiny the Gameboy Micro is, so it proved to be quite a challenging build. I still managed to build this in a day, and there was a lot of give and take in terms of what details I could include. I managed to incorporate the headphone jack, a slight curve, and the black part being slightly raised over some of the bley frame. I could've used 1x8 tiles instead of the inverted brackets, but I would've lost the subtle curve (also they would've been held in only by gravity and friction).
The finishing of this creation means that I have created every Gameboy model out of Legos!!! Don't pull any of that Gameboy Light (same as a Gameboy Pocket, except it has a backlight and a different battery cover, plus it was released exclusively in Japan) or GBA SP AGS101 (Same as a normal SP except it has a backlight) nonsense on me. As far as I'm concerned I have finished the entire Gameboy line out of Legos. I will be taking a picture of all of them together as soon as I repair a few of them.
I almost forgot the hands shot :p
I didn't grow up with the iconic NES controller in my hand or even the multi-coloured SNES controller (i'm a Euro guy, we had sweet SNES pads) - my youth was dominated by the Gameboy.
If Nintendo ever release this face plate for the Gameboy Micro, I'd probably have several heartattacks.

Today was a good one. My screen cover came in the mail for one of my original Gameboys. It was the last peace of the puzzle to make my Gameboy look brand new. These consoles look good for being 17 (Gameboy Pocket) and 25 (Original Gameboy) years old respectively.
