"And the seasons they go round and round

And the painted ponies go up and down

We're captive on the carousel of time

We can't return we can only look

Behind from where we came

And go round and round and round

In the circle game. "

Lyrics from "The Circle Game" written by Joni Mitchell and performed by Ian and Sylvia

This was another impromptu fashion show with Em. I haven't seen her since last summer. I'd heard she was back in town so paid her a visit.

Here we see her trying on demos from Pallette? Please don't quote me on that. To all the gamers out there, here's to looking cool chewing on your controller cable.

Disclaimer.

Please do not try this at home. No controller cables were used during the taking of this picture, nor do we condone chewing on any cable, especially if it's plugged in. Second life is a fantasy world where the avatars feel no pain and teeth remain intact during such disregard for personal safety and hygiene. Thank you.

Until next time.

"Game Over" by Falling In Reverse

My life is like a video game

Trying hard to beat the stage

All while I am still collecting coins

Trying hard to save the girl

Obstacles, I'm jumping hurdles

I'm growing up to be a big boy

Macro Monday's and the theme of "Dutch Angle"

Is Dutch Angle new to macro photography? Well, I think it definitely is a new theme for the group. There are various examples on my photostream where I have angled the camera though to make the look of a photo more dynamic and interesting.

This particular technique can add drama to a shot and it works more effectively when there is definite visual confirmation that it has been used.

For the theme I decided to use the Magnetic Game pieces that I considered for last weeks theme "Pouches" as my subject. It would not have worked too well for that theme as the magnets would keep lots of the pieces joined together and a randomness would have served better. For this week it works just fine and they act like towers with the pouch behind and highlight which direction is up.

The base also acts a bit like a miŕror and shows reflection and a simple mono conversion of an already black and white scene and subject finishes the editing.

The fall shad spawn has loaded the St. Clair River, at the mouth of a creek blocked by a weir from a local outflow, with a smorgasboard for gulls.

Hundreds, if not thousands of gulls, soar, swoop and circle the waters churning with the fall shad.

This Herring Gull spots the shad in the river....... the game is on.

Jumanji, the board game.

I set a 'game camera' in a remote area of the rockys for five months, I was surprised to see 'people'.......I put another camera out there that will take video...they are always so interesting on what may happen by....there were 540 captures....

Magnetic hematite stones on the Jishaku (Japanese word for magnet) game board. For the Looking Close on Friday challenge: "game pieces."

Jishaku is a portable strategy game like chess or checkers that can be played anywhere. Unlike chess, there is an element of surprise when the magnets jump out of position without warning. All magnets have north and south poles. Jishaku magnets do too. They just aren't marked and the irregular shape of the hematite stones make locating them difficult. So as you carefully place your magnet in a hole you can feel the tug of magnets all around the board. Skilled players learn to use magnetic force in their favor repelling the magnets closest to them without forcing them into other magnets. At least that's the goal but the results can be quite surprising. It's pretty fun but can be down right frustrating at times.
